- How to change your Mad Catz TE2+ fightstick artwork tutorial
Supplies needed:
1. Printer
2. 8.5 x 14 card stock
3. X-Acto knife or small razor
4. Scissors
5. Paper cutter (optional, but recommended)
Other notes:
The higher the quality the printer is the better the print job will be. Cardstock comes in various weights and finishes. Although most weights and finishes will work, we used 80 lb satin cardstock purchased from FedEx Kinkos. We prefer using matte or satin over glossy finished cardstock. Also, if you have paper larger than 8.5 x 14 then you must cut the paper using a paper cutter or scissors to 8.5 x 14 in order for the artwork to print properly.

Absolutely amazing tutorial.
Not sure if this would help a whole lot when using an xacto knife, but you can try placing the plexi glass over the artwork when cutting, basically using it as a stencil.
Yeah, we actually tried doing this. It didn't really work out for us :/. Cutting the holes without using the plexi glass was easier for us.....Thanks for watching our video btw
I used a compass with knife attachment I got from hobby lobby for 4 bucks worked really really well on 32lb stock paper. I found that scoring it first made the cutting much easier.

in the uk its impossible to find a company who can print on a lami lable...im going to have to buy this fightstick.
..i bought a fly artwork from Japan, but i just don't feel like cutting the holes..('ve already changed the octagonal plate, changed the stick top, so don't think im lazy.

Hey great vid! I noticed that you put the plexi over the buttons however I was reading online your supposed to completely remove the buttons and put the plexi over your artwork and then add the buttons over the plexi does it matter at all?

I can't unscrew the ball top. You guys did it so easily but I've been trying for 20 minutes and I can't get it to budge.
I've got the chun li version of this stick and when I put the screwdriver in the slit on the back of the ball top and try to turn the ball it just turns the stick the ball is attached to or turns the screwdriver since it's detachable it just turns inside the plastic.
I've tried holding the metal part in place and turning it but that just rips up my fingers and does nothing.
This shit's impossible.
I got it now, I had to use a real screwdriver. The madcatz one was too cheap. Took me like 0.2 seconds with a real tool.

Apparently, the TE2+ creeks (regarding the opening/closing mechanism)?
Also, I've seen a video where the perspex cover (covering the artwork) can be nudged around. This was the TE2, so is it fixed in the TE2+?
Can the USB cable be disconnected regularly, or will this cause it to loosen?
Overall, how would you say the build quality is with the TE2+?

u can't just hold the shaft and spin the balltop off but u have to open the stick?
+Kal Kuma right. You have to open up the stick first before you twist the top off. If you hold the shaft and try to twist off the top then the screw at the bottom and the joystick top will go in the same direction. Opening up the stick and holding the screw at the bottom before twisting off the joystick top is a must. I hope I was able to answer your question.
hello i noticed you had said the 8.5 /14 paper i went and had this made and it was to big for my current fightstick which is the TE2+ same as in the video and i found this as the size TE2+: 15.5" x 12" x 2.5" and was wondering if this was correct ?
Is there a Template for the layout and sizes for the holes, or do you need to measure everything yourself?
Kinkos wouldn't print my artwork because of copyright issues , I have to go through tek innovations now
Jason Bustamante focus attack also does art. They even cut the holes out for you if you want.

Helpful! BUT does this work with the TE2 (not plus) edition? I've got the Chun Li fight stick, but the lenticular artwork is a little distracting.
Yeah, I have the TE2 Chun-Li Edition and you can do exactly the same thing shown in this video.
The TE2+ is almost the exact same as the TE2, the only difference (apart from the different looks) is that the TE2+ has a few extra features like an L3 and R3 button and a small Touchpad on top just like the one on the PS4 controller.

we never replaced the red frame before and we never really looked into it so i'm not sure what's out there to buy at the moment. however, i did do a quick search online and found a black frame. see link below. hope this helps and thanks for watching....

Hey man I bought that same fightstick but mine didn't come with that interchangeable screwdriver. Where can I get 1 that will fit that slot? I know mad catz are out of business (sort of) so that's a no go.
hey man I could be wrong but it's worth a shot. If you go into any home depot for about 8-10$ you can get a screwdriving that has like 25 different heads you can change on it. At least one of these heads should fit your stick, because at the end of the day its just a screw nothing special. Worst case scenario return your screwdriver to the store if it doesn't work out.

U said 8.5 by 14 but in madcatz's guide they recommend 11 by 17?
+Kal Kuma The art itself is about 8x13 inches so both 11x17 and 8.5x14 would work :). Madcatz recommends using 11x17 because it gives a safer buffer area for printing. 8.5x14 gives enough space for the artwork and more home printers are capable of printing on 8.5x14 paper so that's why we recommend 8.5x14
I'm having trouble to hold the screw in place and I can't remove the balltop because of this!!!! Can someone help 😖
+jeff gallardo Thanks for watching our video Jeff. what is actually happening when you try to hold the screw in place? have you tried using a regular size flat head screwdriver? i find it a lot easier if you use a regular size flat head screwdriver to hold the screw in place
+Monster Digitals your welcome and the thing is that when I use the screw that comes with the mad catz TE2 it keeps shafting the screw and I don't want to break the screw. I can't seem to hold it in place and it seems that the balltop is too tight
+jeff gallardo Yeah, in your case, I would use a regular size flat head screw driver to hold the screw and then just be really careful when removing the ball top. Sometimes the ball top can be a little tight, but it does eventually come off. I don't know what else to tell you. I hope I was able to help :/. I'm happy to answer anymore questions if you have any.
I'm trying to print one using Fedex online but unsure of the paper options, do you know if the laser paper (60 lb) is good to print?
Go to Focusattack.com. They print out art for players who mod their sticks. Maybe you can ask them what type of paper they use.

What difference does the new restrictor make for you when playing SFV?
+Stu Bailey no worries man. I got the sanwa lb-30 in black and you don't need the octagon restrictor. The new restrictor allows the joystick to move in eight directions instead of four. To me, it feels more natural moving the joystick in eight directions as opposed to four. It's just a personal preference really

Where can I buy artwork?
Giacomo Puccini Focus Attack sells custom artwork for te2, te2+, tes+, razer atrox, and more. I got my tes+ and razer atrox artwork from there. You upload your custom artwork and they print it out and cut all the holes for you. All you have to do is apply the artwork. $6 per print. Make sure the art you upload is in the proper format and a high resolution. If you have a te2 or te2+ (like in this video), it's super easy. You don't even have to remove the buttons!

so the paper is not standard A4 format ? & I want to print it with photo paper that will work just fine right ?
+Kakashi - Leonhart Right. The paper we use is not standard A4 format. We use US Legal size paper, which is 8.5 x 14 inches. We don't have much experience with photo paper to be honest. However, we did a little internet research and it does seem like you can use photo paper, but it's not recommended. The plastic panel is reflective so adding the glossy paper to it might make the artwork look too glossy. There also could be more of a chance of smearing with photo paper because of all the constant pressure when using the fightstick. This is why we recommend using matte or satin card stock.

Are the sanwa buttons 30 mm?
Jun Yes. The face buttons are 30mm, whether they're Sanwa or not. The start/select buttons are 24mm. This is universal to most, if not all arcade sticks.
Also can the white sides be spray painted? I also would like that to be green
