    I considered buying a 99-04 V6 to use as a daily driver but nothing more than that. I worked with this kid who had a 05-09 V6 Mustang and he just dumped every paycheck into the thing. Rainbow lights all over, aftermarket hood, spoiler, speakers, had a screen in it, exhaust, several bolt-ons, etc. I just always wondered why he dumped so much money into this V6 instead of just saving up for a GT. I don't understand it, I wouldn't go investing all my money into aftermarket parts for a V6 but if that's what he likes then good for him.

      I bought my v6 at 18 years old. I spent some paychecks getting cosmetic mods as it was a car I was/am proud of. Now I’m not a huge fan of sound systems or under glow. More of an OEM+ kinda guy. But your coworker, that’s probably his pride and joy. Likely all he can afford. For some people, having a v8 does not matter. They just want to own a mustang.
      Now playing devils advocate, as we both own 03/04 cobras, we’re quite fortunate. Many people would kill to own one. It’s more difficult for us (cobra owners) to justify spending money on a v6 because with simple bolt ons are cars make 470+whp and sound insane.
      I get where you’re coming from and do agree that once you spend a ridiculous amount of money on a v6, it may have been a smarter choice to buy a v8. But like I said, some people could care less. Believe it or not, my v6 brings me as much joy as my cobra. Two different cars with two totally different purposes.

      my 01 has had to have more work for sure, but it’s 4 years older than my 05, my 05 was wrecked before i bought it but besides cosmetics, needed brake lines, calipers, rotors, brakes, and harmonic balancer. the 01 has had brakes, rotors, calipers, plugs, wires, coil pack, had to get full exhaust cause old one was rotted, now is needing rack and pinion, wheel bearings, possibly a trans rebuild, (136k miles) and definitely a shift release fork.

      Believe it or not, not everybody wants a GT, especially for a daily driver. Mustangs are more about looks than performance. That goes all the way back to the beginning. The original Mustang was a restyled Falcon. People bought them because they loved the looks. MANY early model Mustangs had inline six cylinder engines. The early Datsun Z cars all had inline six cylinder engines. The later 350Z and 370Z and the brand new Nissan Z car all have V6 engines. The Porsche 911 and 911 Turbo have horizontally opposed six cylinder engines. The Porsche 911 Turbo will outrun a Lambo V12. The Lotus Esprit has an inline FOUR cylinder engine. The '90s GMC Syclone and Typhoon that outran Corvettes of the era had V6 engines. The Buick Grand National has a V6. My very first car, a 1963 Nova SS, had an inline six. In an SS model. Do you still have a problem with 6 cylinder engines in sports cars (and trucks)?

      @@geraldscott4302 Just doesn't make sense to me to dump a whole bunch of money into a V6 to make it look like an auto zone special. If you don't care for a V8 Mustang and you just want a Mustang, that's fine, but when you make it look hideous that kind of defeats the whole styling argument. This kid wasn't in that boat, however, he absolutely wanted a V8. But instead of just saving his money to buy a V8 model, he bought a V6 and just kept blowing money on untasteful mods, he had a brother who was the exact same way but with a V6 4th gen Camaro. They both talked about wanting to get V8s but they'd turn around and dump their entire paychecks (which at this job were very little) into those V6s models. They'd rather just settle for less instead of putting in the work and saving for a better car. I just can't do that. I saved money for just 2 years and bought a Terminator. It's absolutely worth the wait.

    Oh god, I've seen it so many times; "Sup, y'all? I just got me this v6 and I wanna get five billion hp out of it. How can I do it?" To me, that translates to "Hey, I got this nice car. What's the most expensive way to grenade the drive train?"
    I own a 2014 Premium, owned it for a little over two years, it's still bone-stock and it will stay that way. Unlike many other v6 owners, I'm genuinely happy with what I've got.

      I think everyone goes through that initial stage where they want a ton of power or make ridiculous claims of what they plan to build. I know I did for about the first year of ownership. As you stated, people should be proud of what they own whether it’s a i4, v6, v8, etc…

  • @freequark

    The 2011-2014 V6 models have straight line performance as good or better than any previous V8 Mustang outside of a few rare and pricey special editions. 310+ HP with premium gas is insane for a naturally aspirated, base V6. I had an '89 Saleen, and my 2014 V6 would smoke it in the quarter mile. The Saleen did have better handling and brakes I think, but it also cost a lot more in equivalent dollars. The only two issues with the 2011-2014 V6 that I see are the low rear axle ratio and the 115 mph speed limit imposed by the two-part driveshaft. A thousand bucks in parts and labor along with 4 Z-rated tires will correct both those issues.

  • @chrisrandom1404

    It all depends on what your plans are. Both cars have their strengths performance wise. V8s naturally are quicker in a straight line. (Which is what most people are looking for.) V6s are better at handling without breaking the bank or dumping a ton of cash on a special edition car. (GT350, Mach 1, etc.) I have had both V6s and V8s. I loved the sound and straight line of the V8s but found most to be very nose heavy. Any "spirited" driving in corners became a chore. The V6 is actually (whether Ford intended for this or not) better in corners. 05-09 V6s have a weight distribution of 51/49 from the factory. Far better than the 54/46 of the GT. Again it depends on what you're looking for out of your platform. I work in a cemetery. Our shop is 1 mile from the main gates if I take the direct route. The "scenic route" is longer and is filled with turns and hair pins. So for me the V6 makes more sense rather than dumping thousands into suspension on a V8 to get the same results. But this is just one scenario. Everyone is different.

    • @SVTEvan
      @SVTEvan  2 года назад +1

      Nicely said! I agree with everything stated. I love my v6 as a daily as it’s nimble, doesn’t break the bank on gas, and still enough pep from light to light. If I want to make a ton of noise and beat 99.99% of the cars on the road, I’d choose my 03 cobra. But with that said, there’s still something special about hoping in my 05 v6 knowing it’s bulletproof reliability wise and that I can get from point A to point B.

  • @lacraigcrawford9510
    @lacraigcrawford9510 2 года назад +2

    I agree somewhat. More than a few v8 owners have a sovereign complex (not all, but enough). In my experience as a v6 owner you get backslash for simply asking upgrade questions. I get the annoying people that just want to fit in making stupid statements and asking dumb questions, they are everywhere, in every industry, club, and culture. But let's be honest a lot of v8 owners look at v6 as a lesser fake imitation of what a muscle or sports car should be and are even annoyed by v6 owners with the humblest intentions.

    Your video was in my feed and I know I'm in the wrong car venue, but I watched your video as I see the same hate for V6 Firebirds. I own a loaded 98 Firebird with the Y87 performance package. I keep my car stock as it's a low milage garage queen and yet many LS guys consider it a POS just because it has a V6. I don't race nor claim it to be fast. But it can get annoying when some LS guys accuse me of adding a Trans Am suspension, posi/LSD, air damn, stering rack, chrome rims and leather interior to a base V6. Crazy how so many don't know that some V6 models came loaded from the factory like this. I recently found out that my bird is 1 of 181 built.
    And I'm not bashing V8's as I used to own a 96 Trans Am. But watching your video on V6 Mustang's, I'm not surprised this happens across the board with other car brands.
    Nice Mustang btw!

    Pre-2011 V6 Mustangs are for normies who don't care about performance. I say this as someone who has had THREE V6 Mustangs. 2006,2007,2013. The 4.0 Mustang is a car that FEELS fast, but isn't. The 4.0 is a torquey truck engine meant for the Explorer. The S197 is reasonably light and feels quick on its feet, kind of like a Miata. "Fun" describes the 4.0, but its not "fast". Considering I've had BOTH a 3V Mustang and two different 5.0's, the 3V FEELS fast because its smaller and lighter than the S550. It still won't win a race against a 5.0 though. These are just fun cars to whip around town, but unless you plan on doing a Coyote swap, they aren't going to win many races.

  • @okhotrodder

    V6's just aren't a v8. It doesn't matter what exhaust you put on them, you can't make them have the muscle car sound. Most v6 Mustangs aren't decked out. They are considered the bottom of the line. It's like having a commercial stripped down 6 cyl f150 versus a nice decked out v8 4wd lariat.
    I have four Mustangs currently. Two are v6 and two are v8. The two v6"s sit 99% of the time because there's no comparison to driving the v8's. My brother has a fully built v6 with a supercharger and cobra everything body parts. You can't tell it's a v6 till you pop the hood. It sounds mean at low rpms but as it goes up you have the annoying import sound. Even with producing 3 times more power than a stock v6 of his year, a new mustang gt produces more power.
    Most people buy v6 Mustangs because they can't afford the v8. It cost more. Takes more fuel, insurance cost more, etc. Some think they don't want a loud car and don't want to go fast so why buy a v8. Usually at some point the v8 bug bites someone. Most people know it's expensive to swap a v6 to a v8, and understand if you wanted a v8, why didn't you just buy one?
    I've heard V6 owners say it's cheaper to buy a v6, swap a v8 in it, and pay v6 insurance. Maybe in the long run but def not in the short run. If you have a good driving record, your v8 rate isn't much higher than the v6. There's many ways to reduce your v8 rate to match the v6 rate. (Higher deductible, less options, etc).
    The V6 is considered a girl's car also. Because it has no balls when it comes to power and performance. Same difference referring to a Hellcat versus a stock. Most people gloat over one and not the other. People don't buy Hellcats because they can't afford them and there's cheaper options out there.

      Very true. I think they both have their pros and cons but I don’t agree with people hating for no reason. They’re perfectly good cars!

      Indeed they are! Bunch of 4.0 owners are pretty cool. Just a select few that are a bit difficult to talk with. I always get a chuckle out of boosted 3.7 guys trash talking coyote owners lol. Makes coyote owners squirm.

    congratulations you made it to the algorithm my friend. hope this channel takes off
    also i think people hate v6’s cuz it was a safe way to grab cash off their legendary models. same way with the eco boost. its no secret that we’ve been pushing further away from the combustion engine over the last 10-20ishhh years. governments are cracking down on emissions regulations and therefore for ford chevy and dodge to be able to stat afloat with their traditional roaring v8’s, they also need to cater to the market and have the emission friendly versions

      DUDE, just opened my app and saw a huge increase in subs and views. WILD!!!
      And you brought up several valid points. It’ll be interesting to see what the future holds for the muscle car community, including the v6’s. Appreciate your subscribing my friend 💪🏻

      @@warpony5654 hell nah I sold that shii to some high schooler. Honestly it’s a kind of car a high schooler would drive if he can’t afford a v8 yet. I own a 2013 mustang GT. The v6 is Not a bad car if you want to get into the car scene and swing that shii as a high schooler

      I respect your opinion, although I disagree. They’re great cars as long as you’re realistic about their purpose. I personally wouldn’t purchase one for performance purposes. But for looks, why not.
