    This is the foil from the build video series. I was finally able to test it out and it flew great. I got a little confusing at the end but because I flew the short mast and then switched directly to the full mast the difference was noticeable. They both have the same stability, It just took me a minute to adjust to the extra height.

    Mate the surf brands that charge over a thousand dollars for just the foil must be pissed at you,great work DIY!!

    Very nice! It doesn't always need to be expensive and high-tech to be performant. Thumbs up from me.

    Ya baby! Awesome vid! It's funny how you make it look so easy!, I "air chair " and it can be very difficult for people to learn lol! Keep up the good work! 😎

    I would assume that this is a fairly easy foil to ride if you are a beginner? Wou;d you ship to Canada too? Great videos!

    Hi, great build, do you know what physics principles are involved with the hydrofoils? maybe something on fluid dynamics and mechanics?

    • @Pstr1315
      @Pstr1315 7 лет назад +1

      It's pretty much the same principle as when an airplane wing generates lift. From a fluid mechanics scope, both air and water are considered fluids and in some ways they behave simirarly. So the horizontal hydrofoil in this case should have the cross-section shape of an airfoil. You can find many videos in youtube explaining how the airfoils generate lift.

    Is it possible to put the kit together like the white one whereas you can unscrew the foil wings? Also, would it work well if you put it on a kneeboard? Thank you for these amazing videos.

      to use bolts, some other modifications need to be done. Nothing too extensive but slots need to made for inserts.

    What Hp do you have on the dingy towing you? Looks fun.

    • @clearwaterhydrofoils4313
      @clearwaterhydrofoils4313  7 лет назад

      Its not much of a Dingy. Its a 17 foot tin boat with a 30 hp two stroke. However you certainly don't need nearly that much power.

    • @heavyweather
      @heavyweather 7 лет назад

      Clearwater Hydrofoils I am wondering how much power you really need. Do you believe you could get an 8yr old with 20-25kg to foil behind an electric boat...those you can rent out and that only go 5-6km/h?
      Do you share your plans? I would really love to build one of these but actually got no use for it apart from trying to get my small children to fly (the 3yr old and 5yr old are only 10-15kg...I figure one or the other would fly)

    • @clearwaterhydrofoils4313
      @clearwaterhydrofoils4313  7 лет назад

      5-6 km/h would be too slow. I would say 13 km/h would be the slowest speed for a 85kg rider.

    Its easy to see why the shorter one is more stable, an even shorter one would would be better. I would bet about 5" shorter would be a sweet spot.

      I ride this foil with my kite all the time! I would recommend a taller mast for kite foiling.

  • @jaxsonmeyer2976

    How tall and wide is the staff thing that holds the wings to the board and how far is it from wing to wing

      It's called the mast. 70-110cm.

    • @canberk1667
      @canberk1667 6 лет назад

      Wrong. USA abandon hydrofoil because it's too inefficient.
      In normal ships, you don't spend any fuel to levitate the ship.
      In hyrofolic ships, you have to spend your fuel extra to levitate tens of tons of ship all the time its moving. Do you know how much energy it's needed to levitate to levitate a ship every second?
