Bingoooo
Agreed. It’s not exactly rocket science….
Gawdd that 2012 year though. If you were in the DMV you gotta remember that buzz. When this team finally gets back to glory the city is going to go nuts
Crazy to think in 12 years we havent gotten close to that hype again
we just KNEW the dark days were over… others did too… shame
1st step: y’all need to get rid of this commanders bs and bring back the redskins. it looked beautiful.
RG3’s injury & 36 million dollar cap hit between 2012-2013 is what happened.
I’m surprised more people don’t bring this up more often. I still remember it like it was yesterday
RG3 demanded to become a pocket passer and thought the transition would happen quickly. Mike told him they had to keep some of the old playbook to keep defenses honest but RG3 had to have his way. This undermined Mike's authority and ultimately demoralized the whole team. RG3 wasn't a pocket passer and lost his freakish athleticism from the injury. The transition never happened but I wish it had all turned out differently. People were predicting multiple Superbowl appearances for RG3 and he was just a one year wonder.
Agree. Mike Shanahan’s interview on Undisputed about 6 years ago the year RGme was out of the NFL after the Browns but before the Ravens, was telling. IMHO RG3 was too caught up in the fame with his “all in for opening day” ad campaign that he never properly rehabbed to get back to where he needed to be physically. Plenty of great athletes have endured the knee surgeries & came back with speed & cutting ability. Also not sure of his work ethic at developing as a pocket passer. Tom Brady was known to be in the building at all hours even when he was a backup in 2000. RG3 claimed that he wanted to be great but he was never even good after his rookie season despite getting starts. It’s like he wanted the starts to be his preparation. He really messed up his own career & seems to have a list of everyone to blame except himself. 2 months later & it seems like just recently RG3 owns more of his mistakes. He actually makes more sense recently.
You are so wrong. He is a Quarterback!!!! He hurt his leg not hos throwing hand or his brainless head. Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, Joe Burrow and on and on suffered this injuries and came back just a good as they were before the injury. I'm a born and raised Redskins. RG3 was cocky arrogant, did not study, did not know how to read a defense and on and on. They had no playbook for him at Baylor. Today he runs just as fast as he did. That's the problem with these playground quarterbacks that NFL is pushing very hard. Lots of Highlight reels, no championships and a short shelf life. You had many teams that skins scrimmaged during training camp. Almost all that Cousins was the better quarterback. There is a reason nobody wanted him after he was released. BECAUSE HE SUCKS BEING A QUARTERBACK! Talent without a good work ethic only takes you so far.
@@otisandbruceshow1808 Wow! You really nailed it. Unfortunately I’m a world where everyone willing to type has an opinion, numbers that media can exploit outweigh truth. RGme,me,me was an arrogant disaster who thought he was entitled to start no matter what. He didn’t want the read option only because he wanted his “brand” to expand to be known as a drop back QB like the best. But like you said, he didn’t put in the work. Instead, he just wanted to be put on the field as starter & wing it like it was an on the job training plan of 2 teams playing an NFL game to showcase him. If he lost it didn’t matter because they were all there to watch him play. Supremely arrogant & didn’t know what he didn’t know.
Justin Fields isn’t arrogant but he’s another playground QB who threw to guys open by 5 yards in college. He’s a gifted athlete who can run around out of structure and make an occasional play. Even if he needed much more help in coaching and a better system, JF didn’t get better at the things in his control like mechanics & footwork to become accurate. He didn’t know how to prepare to play in structure & he was late on many throws.
@@otisandbruceshow1808athleticism and the ability to run is just a plus. That's why so many of these hyper athlete quarterbacks need to get to the nfl as quickly as possible so they can sit and develop or get nfl reps to learn that running is just a plus. Being in college too long for them gets them too comfortable running as a bail out. Which is why I was so happy to see AR come out at 20 years old and end up at the PERFECT team for him with the PERFECT coach for him. I do think Minshew should have started the season. But it wasn't the dumbest idea to throw AR out there. Now he's learned his lesson and hopefully after a year he'll be all rested up, his shoulder is good, and he'll realize that he should learn more in the Josh Allen/Lamar Jackson route than the Cam Newton route. Where he's more of a pocket passer with designed runs and rpos instead of random pocket escaping and trucking someone for only 5 yards
@@kimyona9746 What? How many championships does Josh and Lamar have? Championships are won from the pocket not playing playground ball.
Another great video! I guess the thing I’m not clear on is what was the biggest factor. Did it start with Shanahan, or could no HC have done better with a broken QB and terrible special teams? It’s always easy to blame the coach, but could anyone have done better? Amazing to see how many of his coaches went on to be HCs themselves - would have thought it implies they learned enough from working under him to flourish on their own.
From what I researched, seemed to be the later. Also, there was tension between RG3 and Shanahan. Mainly with playing style. Mike wanted to run more RPO (which worked the previous year and got RG3 rookie of the year plus playoff birth) but RG3 wanted to be used more traditionally (drop back, stay in pocket). I had a clip of Mike expressing how RG3 thought "he was Aaron Rodgers when he wasn't". Just couldn't find a place in the vid to put it. Plus, RG3 and ownership were extremely close, seemingly him voicing his grievances about Shanahan to ownership which led to tension between coach and owner. There were other things at play but that seemed to be a big cause of it from what I've read and watched.
You are so wrong. He is a Quarterback!!!! He hurt his leg not hos throwing hand or his brainless head. To be fair, a lot of these coaches would go on to say that this awful season was helpful in shaping their development.
It's absurd he's not in the hof and bill cower is
And they had Kirk Cousins ready to take the helm!!
That may be the best coaching staff ever.
Another shocking bad team with a ton of future head coaches: Andy Reid's 1999 Philadelphia Eagles team, which went 5-11, resulted in 10 NFL head coaches, including John Harbaugh, Doug Pederson, and Ron Rivera
I'm glad you pointed out that Mike Shanahan was fighting EVERYBODY. A lot of people blame RG3 for the in-fighting (and it was huge), but the fact that everyone was fighting Shanahan (even his son) tells me that his attitude was off.
U said 5 successful NFL coaches... only one has one a super bowl
Another shocking bad team with a ton of future head coaches: Andy Reid's 1999 Philadelphia Eagles team, which went 5-11, resulted in 10 NFL head coaches, including John Harbaugh, Doug Pederson, Sean McDermott, and Ron Rivera
Answer: Dan Snyder was our owner. Nuff said.
You got that right.
Snyder couldn’t piss in a boot if the directions were on the heel. 😂
@@r.williamcomm7693 You got that right.
@@chrispoole439 Imagine telling your HC who has 2 super bowl rings, worked with John Elway and Joe Montana, & designs offenses to best fit the talent that despite RG me, me, me’s hugely successful rookie season with a custom designed offense using about 1/5 RPOs the HC now needs to call drop back plays as if the QB suddenly learned to read defenses while rehabbing his knee.
@@r.williamcomm7693this wasn't all his fault it was rg3's inability to stay healthy and the front office's unwillingness to let him heal
The back up QB on that team ended up being pretty decent too.
Yea, funny, the qb the coach actually wanted! It's so sad to see WFT assistants doing well elsewhere...
HOF contract negotiator
If Bobby Slowik eventually becomes a head coach, which he likely will, that’s 6 future head coaches in one room. It’s just too bad that the room was owned by Dan Snyder.
Somehow everyone forgets the 36 million salary cap penalty, but I digress
Forgot why that happened had something to do with Albert.
For breaking the rules during an uncapped year.
100% owner collusion. As much as Snyder sucked (still does) he got absolutely railroaded on that one.

Dallas also got penalized...
Hmmm, his 2 division competitors.
That was major
I argue for the 1950's NY Giants as the best coaching staff ever. Offensive coordinator Vince Lombardi. Defensive coordinator Tom Landry. No beating that

After Bob got injured in the playoffs... He and his father complained with Dan Snyder that the offense needs to be changed. Shannohan kept getting shut down on who to draft and what offense he could play. So he stopped caring and the whole staff wanted out. Thanks Bob and Dan Snyder!
Exactly Mike was last coach we had where I trusted the offense. He easily the most balanced out every coach we had since. The plan was once Mike retired Kyle was going to take over. We could have had back to back great coaches. No Dan sided with the QB and few years into Jay’s run let him go anyway. Kyle can make almost any QB look great if they listen. We were probably better off doing what Mike wanted and drafting Ryan Tannihill at 6, could’ve even traded down a few spots to get him.
RGme,me,me
@@r.williamcomm7693 Hey, that rhymes with my RG "can't read D" 3!
@@escaped1534 “Can’t read D” I love that!! You’re right too.
Also we should all remember that GMs keep telling RG “put 3 i’s in team & still can’t read the D” that they know he “still has it & can play today” but signing him would be a distraction for the starter. 😂 Yes that’s a real thing that RG3 said in front of a camera during the 2023 season. Ultimate low point was dragging Kirk Cousins, the 4th round pick who outplayed & especially outworked RG3.
What a coaching squad,I'm embarrassed that we let them all walk
Yea Kyle was going to take over once Mike retired. We should’ve stayed and picked Ryan Tanaihill. He would have done really well in that system. With Shananhan’s you can lesser talent that fit system over using a first on an offensive player. Other than Ts spots you can coach up any 7th round pick to be a star. I think defense was where used they used high picks at.
Nah, he knew Kirk could take his spot. So I’m sure he stayed on the field until he couldn’t.
Wow! I can't believe the level of production! You will grow much higher than 6k Subs bro, keep it up.
I loved the video, it was 10/10
RG3 is one of the most delusional players we’ve ever had on the Skins. That’s what happened.
Another shocking bad team with a ton of future head coaches: Andy Reid's 1999 Philadelphia Eagles team, which went 5-11, resulted in 10 NFL head coaches.
when I remember the 2013 let down I really just feel bad for the legend London Fletcher not having a chance to win another ring before he retired. he deserved better and so did us fans.
It’s not just rg3 not being who Dan thought he was, it’s the fact that they gave up 2 extra 1sts and a 2nd to miss on him. Even the previous year in 2012 they were what 3-6 until they went on a winning streak to take the division, they were never a complete enough team to give up that much for him.
It was a messy situation all around honestly.
There's a philosophy that you learn far more from losses than wins
Simple. Rg3. He was a egotistical ahole who undermined the coaching staff that caused the rift between snyder and shannahans. Then RGme had the nerve to say he was writing a tell all book to expose synder. The guy he was buddy buddy with!
Lol my Rams had two of them. People clowned them for hiring the youngest head coach ever. Then a lot of teams copied after
I'm surprised you didn't mention that RG3 had his father come into the shanahan's office and demand the playbook be changed with the backing of Dan Snyder. The shanahan's wanted to use him as a dual threat while they taught him to read defenses but RG3 thought he was already a pocket passer

Nfl took 36 mill from their cap. Rg3 rushed back from injury and telling dan snyder he doesn't want to do the zone read offense anymore and bruce allen that's your answer. No coaching staff could've been successful under that front office.
The only problem was Mike Shanahan that's why the Broncos let him go.
To the OP, PLEASE don't do anymore voiceovers.
Thanks for making this video, I have been wondering what happened also! WoW, didn’t realize we had so many future head coaches. But they obviously had to gain more experience and opportunities through out the careers. I am happy they moved from the Dan Snyder dumpster fire era.
2024 is a new start for an old and historic franchise. Let’s get it done again.
Go Redskins (Commanders)

Raheem Morris already served as a head coach for the Tampa Buccaneers in 2010 before being hired as one of the assistant coaches in Washington just for context. Great video!
In 7th grade algebra, they had each student pick an NFL team and graph their wins/losses each week … I chose the redskins and was excited to see our new rookie QB… the year was 2013

Mike Shanahan coaching tree
Mike Shanahan was never the problem. He was the best coach in the 21st-century by far for Washington with the exception of Joe Gibbs. And even the legend Joe Gibbs could not turn the team around with Dan Snyder as owner. The man was a walking disaster as an owner
What Happened with the 2013 Washington Redskins? That`s a very easy question to answer. What happened to the 2013 Washington Redskins was the same thing that happened to ALL of the Washington Redskins teams from 2000 to 2023. Dan Snyder ruined the Team with his endless terrible decisions and horrible judgment. Without a doubt one of the worst Owners in the history of Sports. Sure there were other challenges and problems going on that that time but they all pale in comparison to Dan Snyder driving that Organization into the ground from 2000 to 2023.
with all the hollywood remakes and sequels being a thing, they should make another ace ventura: pet detective, BUT, instead of Dan Marino being kidnapped, it's Dan Snyder!...... and no one saves him
As a life long REDSKINS fan, I can tell you that Dan Synder and Bruce Allen had a horrible eye for talent. And, they wasted way too many picks in trades, while also blowing huge dollars on overrated free agents.
Omg it makes sense
After RG3’s injury in the 2012 wild card game against the Seahawks. I thought he was gonna be out for the entire 2013 season.
People forget Mike was forced to take RG3 because our horrible owner was trying to put butts in seats and having a heisman trophy winner would do that but Mike never liked his play style yall remember we took cousins in the same draft who ended up taking the job but then we blundered that all up to but god 2012 was such a lightning in a bottle season
this doesn't even mention the 36M penalty to their cap from being punished for contracts made in the "uncapped" year. they couldn't sign anyone of quality cuz they'd get outbid.
The Redskins 2013 Regular Season disaster is worse that they think. Now you know why they changed their nam to the Commanders!!!
Fans, and anyone with a brain, weren't mad that Shanahan let RG3 start that playoff game, they were mad that he made him finish it or let him finish it, despite having Kirk Cousins on the bench. Complete failure.
I was screaming so loud to pull him from the game at halftime that the neighbors complained.

The BS cap penalty for “violating the spirit of the salary cap” when there was no salary the one year was a major factor as well. Thats part of the reason why we had a lack of talent on defense we had 30 million less dollars on our salary cap.
