At the end he helps Dan because as he explained, he was abandoned by his parents. What he sees in Dan, is a man that will never give up on his family. So he decides to help him. Then when Dan dies, he shoots his gang because he understands that now the son has no father just like him. The son, then doesnt shoot him, because he knows if he does, Butterfield wont pay the $1000 owed to their family for transporting him. Had the son shot him, it wouldve all been for nothing. Amazing but sad ending. My favorite movie and that end soundtrack is beautiful
After Dan told Ben the story of how he lost his leg from friendly fire his son never looked up to him again. He decided to help him fulfill his mission and get his family paid. The fact that he knew he would just escape again shows his empathy towards a man struggling to keep his family surviving.
A lot of great westerns out there. I guess your generation connects these movies with video games. For a lot of Gen X, their parents (boomers) were HUGE fans of Western movies and it ended up being between a lot of father and sons of my generation. Boomers and Xers didn't agree on much, but a great western on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday night was a good couple of hours spent together. Pretty sure that's why Gen X have big soft spots for westerns. Glad you said at the end you want to share it with your dad or brother. I was literally typing this when you said it. Cheers!
Boomers and "x'ers" don't agree on much? LOL. I guess you missed all the Gen Xers going to Grateful Dead concerts in the early 90s. Boomers and "the Greatest Generation" didn't agree on much! But Boomers and X'ers? Everyone I knew had a single mom who was, often as not, their best friend. There was no major "generation gap" between Boomers and Gen X'ers, that's the stupidest thing I ever heard in my life. Gen X (which is my generation) certainly had no problems pillaging their culture from the 60s and 70s, any more than the subsequent generations.
Christian Bale and Russell Crowe-fantastic. How about Russell’s most recent, Unhinged. I heard it was good. Or, Christian Bale’s first, Empire of the Sun-he stars as a 12 year old and it’s a Steven Spielberg movie! I really like it.
At some point watch, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs by the Coen brothers, one of the greatest westerns in recent years! And thank for another great reaction video Mike!
El Marichi by Robert Rodriguez, then follow it up with the “sequel” “Desperado” with Antonio Banderas and Selma Hayek (Steve Buscemi great supporting role) El Mariachi was made for $7.225.00 SEVEN GRAND..
I love this movie. Definitely one of the best westerns of the 21st century. You should also check out True Grit (2010). It’s a remake of an old John Wayne western starring Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and a very young Hailee Steinfeld
3:10 TO YUMA and TRUE GRIT are amazing! In fact, TRUE GRIT (2010) was the first western that I ever watched, really. It made me a fan of them. I ended up buying RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2 because of it. I went back and started watching the old Clint Eastwood films too.
@@ccchhhrrriiisss100 That's pretty limited; wait till you get to the real westerns, lol. If Clint Eastwood is as far back as you go, you're in the shallow end of the pool. I'm not a huge westerns fan (I'm a great movie fan, regardless of genre), but post 60s Westerns ain't where it's at. "Stagecoach", "My Darling Clementine" (both of those are John Ford movies - and if you don't know that name, you don't know westerns, or cinema for that matter). "One Eyed Jacks" (the only time Brando directed. Great movie). Those are just for a starter. If you want to REALLY see a western, watch "Hell's Hinges" or "The Covered Wagon", but those are from the silent era and probably beyond your scope. But that's the real west; early Hollywood overlapped with the "Old West" and extended it by decades. Hilarious that people think "spaghetti westerns" is the end of all of the genre. Watch the stunts in "Stagecoach" and then talk to me about westerns, lol

It’s obvious you love visual storytelling. Looking forward to checking out your channel.
Na Red Dead Redemption & RDR 2 as a a movie would be basically everything from the entire Western genre of films all put together into one single video game especially the original Red Dead Revolver was before RDR & RDR2 was made!!! Redemption & Redemption 2 just added on to the original Red Dead Revolver that was on PS2
Just found your Channel! Gteat with your insights; for example $400 sounds like a good deal; immediately you followed up with "sounds like a deal with the Devil". And you're not afraid to show some feelings, which most reactors don't wanna do. I almost made a dumb mistake of assuming your reaction would be based on our difference in age....Thanks for schooling me!😂. New subscriber!

One of my favorite movies of all time
It's so good

Too funny. Just the other day I was walking my dog and thinking about this movie and how I wish more would watch it and react.

Open range is another fantastic western
Excellent reaction. You know how to pick some great films and your editing of the more important scenes/dialogues is just about perfect.
This a quality film, good choice, but underrated
Bit
At some point watch, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs by the Coen brothers, one of the greatest westerns in recent years! And thank for another great reaction video Mike!
Man, what a great reaction, and one just as underrated as this movie.
El Marichi by Robert Rodriguez, then follow it up with the “sequel” “Desperado” with Antonio Banderas and Selma Hayek (Steve Buscemi great supporting role)
El Mariachi was made for $7.225.00
SEVEN GRAND..
Definitely a legendary couple of films! I think about that pork dish Johnny depp had all the time. Literally to die for!

I remember really enjoying this.
Have you watched the new True Grit? It's great. I also recommend High Noon, High Plains Drifter, Unforgiven, and Tombstone.
Haven’t seen true grit
You should do The Good The Bad and The Ugly next. Its the best western
frankly those old ass movies do not hold up to this or tombstone. You’re just wrong. It’s a good watch, but it’s not better than this movie lol.
Best western after “Unforgiven”
Westerns are the perfect tool to explore morality.
How's it going?
Nice reaction mate. Never seen the movie but it looks well-made.

Another Western masterpiece with Christian Bale you should check out is Hostiles. Its a movie that holds back not one bit. It is phenomenal.
