My job is one of the worst stressful jobs and I feel I have no way out! I totally understand why people decide to be homeless and live free.

Sure, living in a tent or on the streets, facing cold or rainy days, not knowing how to when your gonna eat, begging people to throw you a dollar or coin, dangers of being assaulted and raped, and dying from deteriorating heath. Is that what you call "free."

@@theintrovertedaspie9095 it’s not necessarily. I think you do have to work to get money to get to a level of freedom, but your job can also kill you. It’s like a parachute with the parachute being the job, and all the strings being parts of your life such as health, relationships, marriage, social life, home etc etc. Stress from your job cuts those strings and the more strings your job cuts, the sooner you need to get out of your job and find a new one. There have been times when I’ve questioned my existence because of my job - literally. It’s not good …

Real life example. I'm at work, the store is full of headaches, there are lots of problems and picky customers. I start to pray and after a while there is peace, there are no one, a few nice people, but for a while I experienced headaches and side pain. A different way of thinking. You don't have to solve problems face to face at all, there are better ways.

I’m sooo ready to quit. I used to be so passionate and on fire for my job but I can’t anymore. After 5.5 years I’m burned out…burned into ashes you could say, I’ve checked out mentally and do the bare minimum now. I feel like my contribution means nothing, I’m replaceable, bosses who think they can yell at me, I stopped learning everything I can at this job and reached the highest position in my organization without having to play politics. I’m tired of wearing this fake mask every day. Tired of going through the motions like a zombie. Tired of commuting, doing mandatory overtime ( no extra money is worth it), mandatory stays at work 24/7 during natural disasters (can’t even go home so I have to sleep at work 💩). I got a list of 3 dozen reasons why I wanna quit. My anxiety level is through the roof, I snap at people and hate interaction with people. I have insomnia and headaches. I’m triggered easily and wanna be left alone. Overwhelmed big time and can’t catch a break. My physical and mental health are suffering big time. I really wanna quit. In the next month or two. The 50k a year just ain’t fkn worth it and I’m only 29.

Same... I'm so sorry you've gone through this... I left my first corporate job I worked for 3 years recently, and we have no more savings. No money to live off and pay the bills or we are homeless. Unfortunately i'm stuck looking desperately for another job. I'm just stressed and anxious 24/7. I have a chronic illness which makes everything harder. I don't know what to do, i've tried everything possible thing to make money. I run multiple online businesses, have multiple RUclips Channels, I spent all my savings on trying to become a voice actor and the most i've made in a year is $30. I can't do this anymore, how do people live like this. My whole family thinks i'm a disgrace as I left a good paying job, but it was super toxic and stressful. Constant deadlines, daily meetings and managers making you stay unpaid overtime. I'm only 23. I can't do this for another 40+ years. I wish I knew what to do...

Mausi, Be careful what you feed your mind to reduce stress and overthinking.. Avoid comparing yourself physically or mentally with others, do not be desperate to impress anybody, reduce watching negative social media and avoid constipation as it affects the mind. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives relief from stress-anxiety. For a relaxed mind observe the sensations of your natural incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 10-15 minutes or more. You can sit on a chair or lay down, be as still as possible and eyes closed--No deep breathing. Don’t fight your thoughts. Never meditate with expectations. Make it a lifetime habit to observe your breath day and night before sleep, at work, when travelling, etc with eyes open or closed. Best wishes--Counsellor.

I'm SOOOOO tired of having to go through so much stress at these jobs just so I can have a roof over my head and food in my stomach (basic human requirements) ..Starting to feel like we are all born just to be 9 to 5 slaves and that's it.. and no matter how bad these jobs are affecting our mental and physical health we HAVE to deal with it or else we will be homeless. Something just seems wrong about the way life is.. we keep working everyday/week/month/ year/decades and never can get ahead enough to take any time for ourselves and wellbeing. We are trapped in this neverending rat race until we die. How are you supposed to feel positive about the future when that's the case? I dont want to sound negative but it's the sad truth for so many people.

People just assume we can tolerate the stress, but we cant. When i get home from work, my heartrate is high all evening.
This would be so much more interesting if they put this on a nurse or waitress.

Let me guess... Her long hours are most likely unpaid, because she's a salaried employee? She's staying at the office till 9 pm and even 2 am (!), but doesn't get compensated for it? And she probably ends up clocking in $40-50k of unpaid work hours each year, but the company makes it seem justifiable, because they give her $5-10k as a Christmas bonus? And they also mentioned the "extended work hours" in her contract, but didn't specify that she'll be working 20-30 hours without pay each week? And they tell their employees "this is how the industry works, get on board with it or leave"? Yep, sounds about right.
This isn't just stress - it's exploitation. Frankly speaking, it's more like slavery. This lady seems extremely smart and nice; she deserves better.

    • @richygambs321

True. Can't stand that BS in employment contracts but it is so common. "Because you are technical or professional you cannot expect a 9-5. The job does not work that way." "That's what you have to do if you are to further your career." Well then you do that, climb the ladder and step into a more stressful role! I am impressed at how seemingly all technical/professional jobs are like that. Some industries are very busy like the legal one, I can speak for that, but at least pay your employees generous bonuses or higher salaries, not a salary of a 40 hour week and getting out a 55 hour one.

Been feeling lots of anxiety at work- Stressed, headaches on the side of my head. I feel some people don’t realize how important it is for me to stay on top of things, keep things organized and track everything. At the end it all falls on me- lately I was stuck doing other people’s duties that had nothing to do with our office, my husband sees how stress I come home- I tell him everything as my husband. I’ve heard so much and kept it in- Sad how someone can try to make you look so bad to the world just to block all the wrong they do- Feeds everyone lies about you and your family- Sad part is everyone knows how bad this person loves gossip, they feel that by feeding him gossip they keep him on they’re good side-

I only work one day a week for 4 hours, but I have autism and before working I went to a school for mentally challenged adults, and I think I only went there once a week and even that stressed me out...
I'm thinking a wfh job could be better for me than the job that I have, my manager isn't mean or anything, I have somewhat social anxiety and I think I have ocd so doing certain things makes me almost have anxiety attacks..
Idk what to do- and that's also stressing me out...😭

Do you know what it’s like to be forced to work 140 hours a week without any days-off for more than a year and that if you didn’t work that long, your boss would kill you instead of fire you whether you would quit or not?

@Morgan Hyde I have had a membership with a cerebral fitness site called HAPPYneuron for a rather long time now, and I struggled violently with games that required or were meant to strengthen reasoning which would not be odd in someone with a learning disability such as autism which I have. I had a hard time defeating that stress but eventually started to slowly succeed.

I just started a corporate job and it is 100000x stressful than other retail/customer service job I've ever had. Gatekeeping what stress serves 0 purpose other than showing a lack of empathy for other people's struggles.

Everyone have different struggles. Her job might be complicated and technical so it could stress her. Do not downplay anyone's emotions just because you think you have it worse. There's a reason why that job could produce stress, she worked hard to study for this job and it probably requires expertise. While anyone can flip burgers not to be mean but you don't need that much complicated thinking while doing it.
