I just want to say that your videos have been an awesome tool for me in my drum machine/sampler journey! I'm a keyboard player that is just getting into the drum synth world and these have just been incredibly helpful. Thanks! Keep up the good work!
The step-repeat, randomisation, glitching fx and the distortion!!! For that price was mental... and not only could you set a mastertempo across all patterns and enable the switch of patterns mid sequence juggling between all of them at will!! but you could also set the individual drums to trigger their own polyrythms!! Not to mention using the FM drum parameters in comination with the long decay of the kick to create some savage bass crunch!! Best drum sequencer in the low price range and probably beats most of the medium range too!!! Hahaha
Polymeter vs polyrhythm. Polymeters are when you have multiple sequences of different lengths playing over the same grid/subdivisions where they only restart at the first common multiple, i.e. one sequence that's 3 beats long and one sequence that's 4 will only simultaneously start again 12 beats later. Polyrhythms are when you have multiple sequences that are the same length but subdivided differently, i.e. both sequences are 12 seconds long but one is divided into 5 equal parts (a note every 2.4 seconds) and the other 4 equal parts (a note every 3 seconds).
Why didn't this get more likes? Seriously! Have a like. This vid is great. I still don't know whether to get this, a Circuit rhythm or a Launchpad pro mkIII controller (all very different I know, but I am happy using a DAW) They all seem to do what I want. Impact: great drums and sequencer. C. Rhythm: great drums/samples and sequencer, then Launchpad Pro mkIII: great sequencer and control if I use VSTs with the DAW.
We should clarify what was traditionally called "polyrhythm" vs. poly meter. This demo is really poly meter. Polyrhythm is when different pulses occur over the SAME time period, for example "three against two" or "five against four".
Always interesting to here your take on kit particularly drums, out of interest have you had an LXR or Drumlogue through your hands yet? I am still fettling my setup at the moment, I have a Deluge and Minilogue XD module, loads of fun and to be honest I have only skimmed the surface with them... I have one eye on drum machines but really should be looking at patchbays... Top content as ever, thanks. Alll best from Yorkshire UK 🖖🎶💯
AWESOME VIDEO MAN, thank you showed me how to look to my drumbrute with a different view , just one question my tap tempo led is blinking to fast I hold and pressed the metrono botton and I choose 1/8 but still blinking so fast and the tempo is 120 at 1/16 notes, is this normal?
Hey man - have you noticed any discrepancy with the kick sound? Beat to beat, triggering it numerous times in a row, the “attack” changes on mine. I’ve read about others experiencing this and am curious if you have as well.
This is the joy of analogue gear and why people buy it. It feels alive because it never quite sounds the same. But I've never noticed my kick changing so drastically by itself that it's distracting
Hi, Im not sure if my logic got it wrong but if you randomize everything the polyrhytm feature becomes irrelevant?! I see the polyrhythms useable for changing predictable rhythm. Nice video though
The Impact seems to actually contextualize the random placement of notes based on what is already there! So normally you'd be right, but it's a bit different with the Impact :)
@@FreeBeat Thx for the reply! I will probably understand better once I got the machine which I plan in the future. The most interesting feature for me seems to be the analog clock in. Have some ideas how to use it in creating interesting timings
@@FreeBeatthe random encoder impacts three things: the rhythmic pattern, the status of note events (step on/off), and the velocity of note events (accent on/off). The random encoder has a range of 0-100%, with 0 having no effect on the music. But at 100% the rhythm, velocity and even existence of note data within the pattern will be entirely random. I'm not sure what you mean by contextualize?
hey can you hook this up with a roland boutique drum machine and run trigger out from that and into clcok in on the impact? and have the sequencer advance for every trigger?
Yeah I kind of thought that was weird too. Although if you want to get super technical, polyrhythm vs polymeter is down to how music is notated, and since this only uses a sequencer instead of proper sheet music notation, it's not...entirely wrong I guess? Yeah I'm not really sure why they didn't just call it polymeter haha.
Here’s a short video I made a while back (on my second day with the DBI) where I clipped the sequence to 10 steps to get a 5/4 time signature ruclips.net/video/Lgc0hcCrvRQ/видео.htmlsi=PRjuB1_VlrS4aXhG
Yeah if you don't have any musical experience it can be kind of difficult. Try some really basic ones, like having your kick on beat one in a measure of 3, and your snare drum on beats 2 and 4 in a measure of 4 :)
Was going to hit the dislike button. But since you don’t mind me hitting it. I chose not to. Haha ❤️ Just kidding! Thanks for the tips and tricks! I got the Novation circuit Rhythm and was going to sell my DrumBrute impact. But the unit is just so complex with so many features and sounds great. I have to keep it! It’s a gem of a machine!
ruclips.net/video/HFQgUDDvpe4/видео.html Just compare the quality for the same price. How can they call that garbage a monster? Even a vst sounds better.
I am having a bit of trouble playing in 3/4 time. I'd like to play a single cymbol quarter note for beat 1 and 2, and then two eighth note cymbols on beat 3. Can this be accomplished from the DrumBrute internal sequence playing in the step function?
Super easy explanation of the poly rhythms feature, I'll be able to use that on my other machines
Thanks for watching!

Just bought the arturia drumbrute impact and absolutely love it.. thanks for the video, big help!
Awesome!

Well done. Finally practically explained how to configure this drum machine. It also works with Drubmrute not only with Drumbrute Impact.

Super fun and you explained it well. Glad you're enjoying your time with it.
Thank you!
This is your specialty, seriously.
Thanks so much!
sehr sehr gut erklärt, verständlich und gut zu begreifen...danke...
Extremely inspiring device. B.t.w. "color" can be used as additional accent - to mark steps in sequence.
Ah, good to know! Thanks :)
i've got one of those- i will use these rad tips, thanks!
Have fun!
What a nice Tool to Carey the beat 👍🔧
I see what you did there!

Neat. Definitely neat. And affordable-ish.
Yeah it's not an outrageous price by any means!

Haven't had either of them, maybe someday though!
Starting to miss my DBI. I should look at getting another one of these days.
Nah you got rid of it for a reason
@@scooba789 Yeah. I didn't know how to use it, then.
Hi bro! Thanks for reviewing Impact! Are this functions available in bigger brother - Drumbrute original?
Like for the vid!
I'm honestly not sure, I've never used the original. Thanks for watching!
This machine can only shine under the hands of a drummer like Free Beat.
:D Thanks!
It is interesting to see how FeeBeat interacts with devices differently than I, a guitarist, do.
I've been playing with similar ideas on my MPC, it's a ton of fun
This is really cool!
It is!
Damn it….now I need one again.
Do ittttt
Add a sampler for perc and hats and away you go
I actually quite like the hats on the Impact haha.
@@FreeBeat no shame in the hats. I mean like breakbeat cuts or 909 style hats on top!
This or t-8 though?
I don’t want to be a smartass but wouldn’t this be called polymetric? Anyway, great video
channelled your inner billy herrington on this one
Thanks for watching!

Can it play bass for guitar jam
Did Arturia really label it wrong? Polyrhythm? It still is polyMETRIC, not polyRHYTHMIC, the latter is a totally different story.

You have 64 steps at least. Could we do a 35 step bar for 5 over 7 and clock it really fast?
Yeah, I thought this was peculiar.
So..... when my BeatStep Pro arrives...
Have fun!

If you grafted Bill Bruford's arms onto Buddy Rich, you're getting pretty close to what's happening here😂
