Hey there..probably a bunch of people that said this.. clean your rifle :) also, 'target' ammo typically runs at about 1050 fps. Everything else you used in the video except the stingers runs btw 1250 and 1280 fps. Stingers run at 1600 ish fps. This is why your groups are all shooting high except for the Norma. Want some ammo acccuracy? Try and find some Aguila 40gr copper plated "super extra" ammo after you get things cleaned. I have a bunch of .22.s bolt/lever/semi-auto. I have used everything you demonstrated in this video except the norma. Aguila out performs all of these in all of my .22 LR firearms, especially my CZ's. Aguila is my goto brand..period. The low velocity of the Norma, in a dirty 10/22 is sure to lead to FTE issues. Good luck, and keep on making enjoyable vids.

My conversion went from plastic stock with a barrel band to the overmolded stock with no barrel band and just the action screw holding it all together so I may test groups with barrel rest and stock rest now. Also the torque on the action screw could play a part in better groups.

    Hey,
    Thanks for the video.
It's recommended to shoot a minimum of 20 rounds of the ammo you are going to be shooting to condition the bbl to the lub.
I wouldn't worry about cleaning it.
Yes the "match and some target" ammo will not work the action of a semi-auto without a weaker recoil spring/bolt.
Most of the ammo has the vel on the box.

This is good information! Don't be disappointed! I have kids at our range events that commonly hit clay pigeons on the 100 yard berm using CCI ammo. The really good ones figure out that the bullets impact on the first dot below the center of the reticle and then they break the pieces. I was impressed with the Super X, because we have more trouble with that ammo running a semi-auto than is acceptable for our educational events; usually with not chambering well. The Stingers are awesome, and that tight grouping shows that CCI does a fine job of quality control on that line. On cleaning a 22, I do it frequently, not to have a clean bore, but to have a clean chamber, so the next round will chamber and eject easily. Keep up the good work!

My .22"s print a big difference between 40 grainers (my favorite) & 36 grainers.
CCI & Aguila make so many different bullets in .22 caliber...Maybe a fun test would be shooting ALL of their respective ammos from the same rifle at 100 yards?

I mainly shoot 50 yards, but can get solid groups within a half inch. The two take down models I have are good for hunting, but they are not tack drivers. A friend got a 10/22 the other day that doesn't have sight or a barrel band and only cost about $200.00. He sighted it in with a fixed 4 power scope at 50 with the Federal Match and was getting 3/4 inch groups. Now his Ruger American .22LR bolt action will drive tacks without any issues.

For a stock 10-22 those groups really aren’t all that bad at 100yds. The majority of people shoot 50-60 yds and under with 22s, so you could cut those groups in half. Second, for a stock trigger those groups are still pretty good for 100yds.
I have several 10-22s and not one has the stock trigger. I have a couple with the BX triggers and the rest have Hornet triggers ( shout out to him, great triggers at fair prices on eBay.) the triggers make a world of difference to be sure.
This vid certainly does show the vast variance in 22 ammo in a great way.
Pretty much find one or two your gun likes and stay with them as to not need to sight in every time.
Of the rugers I have , no two are the same in ammo preference, a few are close enough to share but I put a sticker on what likes what.
Close enough for hunting and fun , none are target rifles to be sure.
Great vid WTW, keep em coming!

Really need to stay subsonic when shooting anything over 50 yards. Otherwise the bullet will cross its own sound wake somewhere between 50 and 100 yards and this will definitely disturb the projectile. Anything leaves the barrel above the speed of sound will have an unfair disadvantage at far distances.

I ran the same test using a Anschutz 1761 D HB Classic and the KIDD .22LR Supergrade Premium Rifle topped with a Hawke Vantage 4-12x40 on both rifles. The CCI Standard velocity was the consistent winner in the cheap ammo and the Eley Tenex EPS .22 LR Ammo for the expensive stuff. The CCI was almost as good as the Eley at 50 yards. At 100 the Eley was much more consistent but the groups were sub MOA and just over in part because of a windy Tennessee day. Remington Thunder Bolts were all over the paper at 50 which were the worst I tested. Some didn't even fire so I wouldn't waste my money on those. Norma match was good but no better than the CCI. My best 5 shot group at 50 yards was .190" with Eley Tenex with the Anschutz.

With my 10/22 "International", shooting Golf Balls at 100 yards is just fun. auto Match stove pipes, Agulra Super 40 gr., Mini Mags 40 gr. and the Winchester 40 gr, work just fine.

22's are dirty. Go to the range, get home, CLEAN your firearms. Take 100 rounds of 22 ammo, set up a scale, weigh the rounds, three groups, Light, average, and Heavy. Generally, I find 3-4 heavy, 8-10 light, and finally, about 80% are in the middle. With doing the weighing you can get much better over all consistent groups. It's frustrating to have a 4 shot group, all holes touching, then one "flyer" 2-3 inches out. Weighing the days ammo I get 5 shot groups with all holes touching. 10-22, International, shooting CCI 40 RN, that have been weighed, 10 shot groups at 50 yds. ONE HOLE.

You got any of that Frog Lube? I used it on my 10/22 and it does a great job of shedding carbon. It's a job to disassemble, clean, degrease, heat the parts and apply... but it really does a nice job and prevents rusting as well.

Do you have problems with the 10/22 not ejecting rounds and temperamental with firing some rounds? Mine did with 3 brands if I remember right. One was I think 22lr the regular winchester white box and the winchester wild cats and don't remember might have been the thunderbolts. Must wouldn't eject always had a pick in my pocket if that all I had to shoot and a lot wouldn't fire. My cousin could shot them fine through his savage 22lr

I think that the match ammo is loaded to be below supersonic and for bolt action rifles, and as a lot of others have said, clean it, then shoot a 50 box of ammo and retry. Maybe shooting the CZ and Ruger alternating, with the same ammo side by side. But most of the ammo held minute of Zombie head.

Since that's a bone stock gun, you should do a trigger job on it. Ruger rimfire triggers are horrendous. I did trigger jobs on 2 10/22's last week. I didnt check them with a trigger scale but 1 felt like the pull was around 8 lbs 🤣 My 77/22 was just as bad. Did a trigger job on it, helped tremendously!

I have a Ruger 10-22 just like that one which I bought new back in '88. Since then I have added a big, expensive, and fancy 3X9 Nikkon scope designed especially for .22 rimfire rifles and a Ruger after-market target trigger group. At fifty yards from the bench, it seems to do best with Remington Target and with Prime, a German standard velocity brand. The former printed 1 1/2 inches and the latter 1 1/4. At a hundred yards, it did generally crappy with everything. I am wondering if it could be improved with a faster rate of twist. I can turn in far better groups at 100 yards with my Great Depression era Savage NRA Model 19 with target peep sights. I basically consider my Ruger 10-22 to be a good, lightweight, and accurate 50 - 60 yard carbine. I think that the best and most cost-effective solution for 10 -22 accuracy is just to purchase the target model to begin with.

When testing ammo. in a 22LR, I was taught to shoot 25 of each in the dirt before testing each. The reason is because each has a different lube that needs to "season" to bore.
Norma Match and most match 22lr is 1080FPS or just bellow the sound barrier so you don't get transonic (supersonic to subsonic) in flight. This makes this kind of ammo. more accurate at all ranges. At least that's what I was taught.
Some semi-auto 22's don't cycle with match ammo., yours did better then most.
    Yes to the CZ!!
And thank you for all the hard work it takes to make these videos, I was out with a RUclipsr when they made a video, it take much more then we see.

Them thunders are dirty and will even blow powder in your eye when the case ejects. grrrr. Accuracy hasnt been to bad with them though and very rarely a failure to eject. Rem cyclones are my current squirrel bullets as my rifle seems to like them better but I am still buying and trying new ammo. I have tried cci on the same day as the cyclones and thunders and the cyclones absolutely outshined cci and winchester.

CCI Standard Velocity has treated me well in bolt guns, but the slightly faster stuff like the Winchester Super X has been good in autos. I do know that if you can keep the bullet supersonic all the way to the target, or start out barely subsonic, they usually fly better, but there are always some loads that tend to shoot well regardless of all that stuff.
