I think it's a great game that just blends everything together in its own mix. Though it doesn't hold yourself; the amount of players that haven't beaten Satan & Hell Mannor is the proof of that. Game's pallet is also very saturated so your eyes will really hurt when you're playing without breaks. Outside of these factors it's a really fun-packed experience with great art directory & ost (Idle hands's „I'm in the house like carpet" samples couldn't get out of my head). Sadly it gets compared way too much with PT; shocker-they're a different games that play differently from each-other. | BTW I don't own full game, I just played Dynamite demo & watch some playthroughs/reviews.
I honestly think this video highlights one of the best things about the indie game scene to me. How you can have two different games, that both take inspiration from the same source, both have similar concepts and core gameplay loops, but despite that, they both take entirely different approaches to the actual specifics of how the game plays! Pizza Tower is a much more mastery focused game, whole Antonblast is a lot more of a traditional platformer, and they both absolutely knock it out of the park in their respective fields! I think you do an amazing job of drawing comparisons that highlight both games' strengths, and I'm so excited to give Antonblast a try when I can!
I enjoyed the video, but I think it would be more appropriate to compare it to games like Warioland 4. It takes it's core gameplay loop and aesthetic from Warioland 4 and not from Pizza Tower
Antonblast seriously suprised me with just how much charm it packed into every aspect of the experience. I was hesitant at first but *completely sold* after the first boss overall this game feels a lot more experimental than pizza tower and honestly I love it for that! it has seriously unforgettable levels like mad mall and big bath, and some of the best bosses I've fought in a platformer! Absolute BLAST to play (no pun intended) and earns its place among the upper echelons of indie platformers!
I played Antonblast the moment t it came out on Switch, and woah... It was amazing. My favorite moments were The Big Bath, Jewel Ghoul, and Ring a Ding. Overall, personally 10/10 game.
Who knows, i haven't played it but a thumbs up to it and the devs for doing so well. As far as indie action platforms go, i'm enjoying a bunch that are not nearly as talked-about. Stuff like Decline's Drops, Cookie Cutter and Magenta Horizon: Neverending Harvest. Though i guess Magenta Horizon is more along the lines of The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile in that the focus is on *really* good and aggressive combat with platforming strewn throughout, rather than that platforming is the main challenge. Cookie Cutter and Decline's Drops have a lot more planned for them in the future and Magenta Horizon: NH went horribly under the radar. I can really recommend trying them all out, and in the case of DD and CC, sticking with them for the long term. Oh, and as for other 2D action/platforming games, the likes of Symphonia, The Eternal Life of Goldman, IMMORTAL: And the Death that Follows as well as Kraino Rebirth are worth keeping an eye on too. Bonus mention for some mixes of 2D and 3D platformers: There's puzzle platformer Ruffy and the Riverside, there's Double Shake, and there's The Big Catch yet to come out.
Thanks so much for watching everyone, what do you think of Anton Blast?
GOTY 2024
My hands hurt.... Collectibles are a nightmare sometimes.....

2:03 because they’re both based on the same game, Wario Land 4 on the Game Boy Advance, aka, “Wario’s greatest achievement”.

I've seen some people make comparisons with Crash Bandicoot for gameplay, too.
