      I completely agree, both of you are a great source of information and knowledge/expirience. Truly appreciate it!! For me I know what I’m willing to potentially lose on every machine I sit down at, I try to double what I put in and leave after. Also I know we have all chased but it rarly works out. Iv found if your getting a lot of dead spins (I know it’s random) but Iv been getting used to moving around to different machines vs sitting at 1 and losing what I put into it. Iv gotten the bonus on the first spin before at a bunch of machines. Try different games, understand what’s more volitile vs less. Don’t bet money you need and accept that your there for entertainment value and the odds are stacked against you. Good luck allz!!

    The worst are the ‘pot’ type games. They show you pots or firecracker strings or something that ‘builds’ up as you play and infer that you’re getting closer to hitting the full pot. I have had those pots go from half full to full in one spin, and then full again the very next spin. I’ve also sat there for an hour with it never getting to ‘full’. The visual is meaningless.

      So next month we could see a slot that has a pay table on the permanent display that says payout is 10 coins for mixed bars, but the game rules buried in the machine somewhere says that all pays will be short 1 credit for a service fee. Therefore the actual payout for mixed bars is 9 coins. And people will again say: “Duh, it tells you so in the game rules”. Folks are kinda funny sometimes.

      Every freaking thing in the casinos is designed to razzle us. One of my favorites is the buffet, the moment they process you they start pushing liquids. Liquids will off course cause you to eat less.
      Decades ago, I used to attack buffets, I mean attack! my best haul was 25 plates at the Fremont seafood buffet. 11pm-ish they approached me with becoming closing time. But I'm still hungry I responded, they were so shocked they returned my 18 bucks and gave me 4 nights upstairs.
      They played us and I would get even at the buffet, Pala, Texas station, Foxwoods, Rio, I hit all the bigtime buffets around Vegas, Cali,,. I would always chase my 18, 20, 22, plates with a whole sugar free carrot cake.
      I would call Pala and secure my whole cake before arriving on Thursday's. Today at 65 I've retired from overindulging; I do 5 to perhaps 7 plates and 8 slices of sugar free carrot.
      But, always remove/d the top layer of my cakes, even if SF it's not healthy. Used to do the cake with a pint of Vanilla IC, today no ice cream.
      Oh, at 5'9 the heaviest I ever got was 200lbs, chilling at 175 today.
      Have lost plenty but ate it back! in the words of Maxwell Smart,

    You went a different direction with this video than I anticipated.
    My top 5 scams would be:
    1. Coin-Pot games where the pot gets bigger as it fills, but is visual only. It has no bearing on how close the bonus is to hitting.
    2. Jackpot-picking bonus games like dancing drums are pre-determined. You aren't 1 pick away from that grand jackpot every time.
    3. Programmed near-misses (you covered this one). On any losing spin, the manufacturer can set the reels to any losing combination they want. This includes giving you 2/3 bonus symbols to make you feel you almost hit it. Or two multipliers with a blank reel 3 like in your example. Or getting 5/6 lightning link balls, etc.
    4. Altered reel sets or pay table values for bonus games. Ainsworth does this constantly. They will lower the pay table for the bonus reel set and then increase the size or number of lines. It makes your wins look huge when in reality they are reduced.
    5. Decorating a progressive with fire or lights when it reaches a certain point to fool the player into thinking it's ready to hit.

      Line hits vary wildly from machine to machine. The amount of pay lines is the reason. Games with a lot of pay lines like 40 or more give frequent line hits but they pay poorly. Games with few pay lines like 10 or less have great line hits but they happen a lot less often.

  • @kls9036
    @kls9036 14 дней назад +4

    I think a major "scam" you missed was "perceived progression," where the pots or firecrackers or coin stacks get larger and larger until you are sure it MUST be about to hit, when in reality it can just as easily hit on an empty pot as a full one. Unfortunately I have friends who just don't believe me. 😕

    The 'near hit' or 'near miss' scam is one of the most infuriating in my opinion. I believe this is exacerbated by the many YT slot channels which will comment during their play that the machine is "getting hot", "getting close", or "wants to hit" when the near hit/miss occurs. When the YT slot channels do this it magnifies the problem for the uneducated public as the viewer may believe that the slot channel host is an 'expert' and must know what they are talking about.
    One could make an argument that by allow the machines to be programmed for the near hit/miss, the casinos are being allowed to unfairly alter the game by manipulating the appearance of the result to the player away from the true randomness of the spin (this is the point you were making I believe). My question is this, is there anything like a "players advocacy" organization that looks out for the rights of the players before the various regulatory bodies who could make this argument?

    • @GambleSmart
      @GambleSmart  17 дней назад +4

      The closet thing players advocacy are the gaming commissions themselves, but I think there needs to be more than that. We're trying to make some "noise" to the industry and hoping they will listen. :)

    In my opinion perceived progression for bonuses is the worst. Whether it be a growing pot, growing pigs, fireworks lit almost all the way up to top, bars that fill up for the “super bonus”.
    You have to remember to stick to spin count and not get too attached into chasing these bonuses. Some of these things get large or full faster than you think and can literally take in hundreds before finally getting hit. Also you can end up in a position where you feel like you’ve already committed too much to walk away from it so it can take away your entire bank roll if your not aware of how they work

    The worst bonus games are the ones where you get to " pick " a box and then it will tell you the price after. Or you have to match 3 prize symbols. Those are very obviously pre-picked, so it doesn't actually matter which box you pick. Your MINI has already been picked. You can literally pick them in many different ways, and you will most likely get a mini, and maybe a minor. Still have yet to see a major, or a mega, or grand.

And when you finally get it, the bonus pays out a fraction of what you put in. Major scam. But those are the most popular games these days.

    To everyone reading please listen. SLOTS ARENT RANDOM
    think for one second why is it when you get a 4 trigger bonus it’s always worse than when you just get three symbols. Exactly that’s not random.

    • @GambleSmart
      @GambleSmart  16 дней назад +2

      There is a random aspect (nobody knows what is coming next) and a control aspect (the RNG has to pick from a certain set of symbols). This is also called the "control". Think of it like a 52 deck of cards. The act of you pulling a card out of a shuffled deck is random, the control is it has to be one of those 52 cards.

    How about the games where a chalice is filling with coins, or a volcano with lava. It physically looks like it’s filling up. Sometimes you even get a popup like “almost ready to explode”… Just another way of saying “hey keep playing me and I MIGHT pay out”

    Marc, you guys and Cowboy Slots have touted the games such as Double Diamonds, Triple Start, Top Dollar, etc., as “low volitility” games.
    Do you think that the game programmers have watched your videos and have updated these games to now be “high volitility” games or at least closer to that?
    If so, then perhaps more and more newer games continue to be high volitility because people still enjoy those more than the admittedly boring “low volitility” games.
    And if you look at the number of viewers on low volitility game slot channels, they are definitely much lower than the high volitility game slot channels. So that also says something about people’s preferences.
    And Cowboy Slots is now playing and teaching us about some of these high volitility games and he, too, seems to enjoy them.

      Manufacturers can't take a game that already exists and change the math to make it more volatile. Instead, they create new versions of the game. Good example of this is the new Double Top Dollar. The single payline version is the exact same math as the old ones. However, the new 5 line and 9 line versions are different.
      We will play high volatility games every now and then, but only in certain situations - for example, when we are doing well on our bankroll building budget.
      We are mostly here to educate, so if we started to play high volatility games people might wonder why. We are trying to stick to our message because it's how we play and how we've learned to play within our budget. Sometimes, we just try something different to keep people entertained too.

    Would love a win. However all machines seem ti be the same game different art. I remember 20 years ago there were different games. 😮

    Casinos have unlimited funds to pay out, but you don’t have unlimited money to bet. So when you run out of money, you lose!

    I know that you guys believe that fat bags, lit up firecrackers, etc doesn’t mean anything.
    But to an extent, it does mean something.
    Like the long-haired geisha lady with the pearls in the bowl.
    Well, you usually have to have at least 3 or more pearls in the bowl before you start to come close to getting a bonus. There used to be a random red lantern screen bonus, too, which has become almost nonexistent on those games.
    And you won’t see anyone playing the game if there’s only 1 Pearl in the bowl bc it’s like you’re starting over.
    The same with the firecrackers all unlit or barely lit.
    Regular players know that those type of games need to be”build up” before you have a reasonable chance of getting a bonus.

    • @GambleSmart
      @GambleSmart  17 дней назад

      I hear ya, but it's still not true. They don't have to build up at all. It's all perceived progression.

      Nope! I’ve played the Prosperity game with the geisha.
      I definitely got more line wins and the bonus once there were at least 3 pearls in the bowl because IF she dumps all the pearls out of the bowl during the bonus, then after the bonus you start all over again with only one pearl in the bowl. So depending on how much you want to play, the denomination can make the difference.
