      @@Polyeith no, the difference lies in how you use it. Most people keep it on their beds and complain about the fan, it's crazy. Moreover there are settings in the Dell console, you can choose to keep the fan silent. It's simple.

    It's a brilliant machine, bought the i5 16 gb/1tb version today. Totally in love with it, mind blowing battery and performance. Slim 14 inch laptop, still it doesn't feel am missing to see anything on the screen at all, compared it with 15.6 displays and this was better in fact. Super easy to carry, just love it. Super silent as well, no fan noise issue. People use the laptops on their beds and give no room for ventilation and then cry about the fan noise. I started using the laptop around 3 pm with 96% battery, at like 10 pm I plugged in the charger when the battery fell to 30%. So it would easily give about 8 hours backup.

    USB-C charging isn't that big of a deal, because you can't just use any USB-C charger, it has to be a 65 watt one. That being said, I think you can in fact charge this laptop through its USB-C port, in addition to the standard barrel plug. Another thing, most Intel mobile CPUs include an IPU (image processing unit) that improves the picture quality from the webcam in real time. Some laptops have software to enhance the webcam, but Intel's IPU is a hardware based solution. That being said, not all Intel CPUs include an IPU, at least not one turned on in silicon. You would have to check the specification to make sure.

    I have bought the 5435, with AMD ryzen 5, 16GB ram, and 512GB SSD. I like it so far. It is about as fas as the one here with I5 1335u. 10 to 15% difference. What I don't like is that I cannot upgrade ram and the speakers are crack all the time - when plugging in power and so on or when multi tasking. I paid €550. Now the base model went up by 80bucks with only 8GB ram which is too little nowadays.

      A short update: I took this laptop with me on holiday - just staying in different appartments, really nothing crazy. I have to say that this laptop is prone to break to bits. The bottom cover already as cracked between the vents. Normal handling. Maybe I picked it up one-handed and stressed the plastics in the middle.... anyway it is crap. I did not even do much with the laptop since I am still transitioning from my old laptop.
      I will never by a Dell again that has such a weak spot and breaks after 4 or 5 weeks of use.

    • @oliverlison
      @oliverlison 9 месяцев назад

      @@TomChan-nn7mu Unfortunately many laptop at the lower end have this design philisophy. I guess they save pennies because the heat pipe is not as long and at the same time more connectivity ports can be offered without the need of a sub circuit board. Also it allows for a slimmer form factor of the device.

      Update after about 12 or 13 months of constant use:
      This laptop is my daily driver. I placed the laptop on a cheap laptop stand to raise it off the desk, to have better viewing angle and a better airflow underneath the laptop. I am using a wireless keyboard and mouse. The laptop stays at home all the time. The Inspirion Series is not really made to travel. The housing is not made of great materials in my opinion but does the job.
      The work I am doing contains word documents, speadsheeets, photoshop and emails. I am dual screen set up. It does the work done. If I need to pull off large files from the NAS or from the internal sd card reader, then the laptop become stuck and multitasking will be denied. This could be a memory thing because I am limited to 16GB. I guess 32 GB would have been a better option.
      After one year, I cleaned out the interior of the laptop. Cleaning the fins of the heatpipe, cleaned the fan carfully. I also repasted the CPU. I was hoping to get better thermals since the fan is spinning always. The thermals got slightly better but the fan keep spinning also when idleing aloong or when only writing stuff.
      The 14 inch laptop should have better thermals. The top case of this laptop is plastic which could prevent heat from dissipating. (My 10 year old HP Elitebook was better built and was near silent. The fan never spun when doing office work or when browsing the internet.)
      For the things I do, I cannot complain about the monitor screen. 14 inch was my choice because I sometimes need to travel with the laptop. It is not the best screen but it is enought for office work to be done. It works great with a dual monitor set up. Both monitors can be calibrated. The accuracy is no so great on the laptop but workable in most cases. For more accurate things I am using the 2nd screen of course.
      RAM is not upgradeable. I am sitting with the maximum of 16GB. I should have gone for 32GB but will thing improve greatly with it?
      I am also using a Macbook air M2 with 16GB RAM. 16GB RAM are only 16GB and not more even if it works differently with Apple. Today, i would go for 24 or 32GB of RAM as a minimum. I am runnning now Google chrome with 62 taps opened, outlook, excel and word opened, photoshop opened, and being connected to an exteral desktop to another computer.

    Suggest you to include the views of internal details to talk about upgradibility. Are you sure that the RAM is upgradable ?

    • @vincentgranville964
      @vincentgranville964 4 месяца назад

      The ram is soldered and cannot be upgraded. This is partly because the Intel Xe Graphics requires Dual-Channel memory configuration to run.
      You can have 8GB Base (2x 4GB soldered) or 16GB (2x 8GB soldered) LPDDR5 or LPDDR5X.
      For the RAM you must choose your requirements and how much RAM you might need before purchase in this case.
      The SSD can be upgraded to either M.2 2230 or 2280 up to NVMe PCIe Gen 4 Class 35 or 40.
      WiFi Card can also be upgraded to either CNVio2 module or standard PCIe (Key-E Card) module.
      Example: Intel AX210 (PCIe Module) or the installed Intel AX211 (CNVio2 Module)
      You can also upgrade the battery to a 4-Cell one if you only have the 3-Cell battery.
      Ultra portable does unfortunately have its caveats on upgradability and often the RAM is the one that takes the hit due to the space it takes up for the RAM slots.
      I hope this helps.

      @@SoulOfTechyeah, I see. I don’t need anything fancy. Mainly just RUclips Google email. Thought this would be good, but can’t see getting it because of heat & fan noise. Pretty much all the laptop reviews I have read have heat & loud fan issues, even higher end ones.

      @shelley8530 8 месяцев назад

      @@mrstyxxx This is my problem, too. I don't know what to do. I really want a Dell because I like their on-site, accidental damage warranty, and because I have $120 back if I pay with Amex. It's what I always get. But the 16-inch has reviews of running so hot you have to shut it down frequently (or it shuts itself down), and this one looks like it has a lesser degree of that issue. Also, the fan decibels are louder than my washing machine! I don't like the 15" versions because I don't like the number keypad throwing the keyboard off center.
      My current laptop still works fine, but it's 4 years old, the warranty is about to expire, and I know from experience I start having a host of problems in the 5th year with laptops. I wanted to go ahead and get something now, but maybe not.

    am considering this laptop but is there trick for that fan noise or might have to look at other option but yeh i got cooling pad laying around if needed.

    • @SoulOfTech
      @SoulOfTech  9 месяцев назад +1

      Honestly there is not much you can do. A cooling pad will help reduce the frequency of high fan noise but not the levels once they do occur.

    Dell Inspiron line is shaky. I had 2 in my life. The first one was great, but I ran it to the ground with bad computer maintenance for 6 years. The 2nd one was treated better, but was a lemon 🍋. Just be cautious of Dell build quality for consumer lines.
    Their business lines are good, minus Dell XPS 15. Examples: Alienware line, Lattitude 7000s, Latitude 9000s, Dell XPS 13-inch, and XPS 17-inch.
