Hey everyone! Thanks for checking out this week's video! What does your current monitor setup look like? I would absolutely love for you to do a review of this new Dell U4025QW! When I saw you were using it in your last video, I started checking your channel every day to see this review.
Yes, please review the 40” Dell UW. I have an older 34” model and I'm curious how it's improved. The press to drop down USB ports are cool. Been a fan of LG UWs but the KVM/Hub is a gamechanger for multiple devices (personal and gaming) and USB-C for Macbooks. So simple to switch my keyboard between devices even though it's Bluetooth, KVM is so much easier.
Make the review on the DELL 40 inch please haha!!!! Been waiting for an in-depth review for ages! If you could feature Windows experience alongside Mac that would be amazing! Too much Mac only reviews.
I've been using the new Dell U4025QW for a few months and it's easily the best monitor I've ever used. I do a lot of video/photo editing and occasional gaming, and the colors and refresh rate are perfect for my needs. My 42" LG C2 was amazing for gaming, but I will never go back to an OLED for productivity.
Isn't the U4025QW only 60Hz though? I'm interested in these 38-40" monitor more focused on productivity, but they seem fine with leaving them at 60Hz, and I can't seem to handle anything lower than 85Hz even on desktop work now.
Hi, I read your post which I have read numerous times could be one of the best monitors ever made. Do you use a Mac at all ? From a capability point of view *?*
A correction here: macOS can in fact scale (as you put it "independant of the resolution"). Apple just - for whatever reason - describes its scaling in resolution to give you a sense what to expect. Actually it uses the native resolution of the panel. Actually, it scaled far better for years than Windows. But Windows cought up. (I am a Mac user just recently)
Been using the 57" Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo for about a month based upon your recommendation in this video (along with months and months of research)! Verdict.... I LOVE IT! I mean it is a dream. Exactly what I was looking for. The size is perfect for what I do. I don't game but productivity is amazing. I use both PC and Mac on it. Thank you for your videos. They were a great great help in making a decision.
This has to be the best guide about buying monitors on YT. 😊 U pretty much cover everything that an average buyer needs to know when purchasing monitors.
I find it interesting that there seems to be a focus on oled being better here. The vast majority of productivity use-cases (e.g. programming / WFH) would result in OLED burn-in at a faster rate than only using an oled for gaming/watching media. So I find it a bit unusual that a video for productivity monitors is focusing on encouraging going down the oled route when the current state of oled is not suitable for productivity, unless one wants to buy a new monitor after several months. Seriously, working a 9-5 on an oled monitor is not a smart idea until burn-in is significantly improved.
OLED burn in 2024 is virtually a problem of the past! If you're concerned about it so much, try checking burn-in prevention techniques used in modern OLED monitors/TVs.
Oled burn in is kind of a thing of the past. 2019 was a big leep forward for oleds and they've continued to get better. I can leave my screens on for a very long time (and I do) and have absolutely no issues. Prior to 2019, I had one that definitely suffered from burn-in and LG sent a repair guy to replace the panel. In fact, that's all he did all day. He drove around and replaced panels from burn-in issues. What a crazy job. Lol.
I’ve made a few monitor buying guides and review videos but this is HANDS DOWN the best and most comprehensive video I’ve seen on RUclips!! Amazing job Pete!! 🔥
I was just getting ready to pull the trigger on the 57" and this video came on while I was examining and reviewing my cart, then suddenly you said youre back to the 40" Dell. Why now Im nervous to pull the trigger
Please review the Dell U40245QW. I have the 34" 2021 3440x1440p model and for a long time I was saying that this would be the perfect monitor if it had a higher than 60hz refresh rate. Now Dell has updated both the 34 and 40 inch one and I am also curious how much different the IPS Black technology is as opposed to regular 1000:1 IPS. I am considering upgrading to the new 34" or the 40" one, though, the latter comes with a mandatory, very expensive GPU as well :P
The curve numerical (1000R, 1500R) is actually the radius of the curvature. essentialy, the monitor is an arc that is trimmed from a circle with that particular radius. From my guess, 1000R means a radius of 1000millimeters,
Once you have gone to a true 8K monitor at 65" there just isn't anything else that can compare for productivity. 4 x 32" 4K monitors without bezels is impossible to beat. Eagerly awaiting Pete's review of the QN900 :) It is basically a flat glossy version of the Neo G9 57" with twice the number of pixels. No, it isn't perfect (no monitor / TV is), but it made me return both the Neo G9 57" and the Asus PG32UCDM when looking for the best one monitor setup. YMMV of course.
In my opinion the perfect monitor would have the following specs: 49 inch diagonal, 32:9, 4K, 240Hz, MiniLED, 1800R curve, flat stand. The monitor that fits most of those specs is the Samsung Odyssey G9 57 inch monitor. But sadly it is way too big, and therefore too tightly curved...
Great video. I’m running the Dell 5k2k monitor at the moment, nice clear text for coding. Would love a 42” 8k monitor but as I’m needing more virtual space as well.
Pete, as always, amazing content. You’re the reviewer I relate to more than any other due to our similar stage in life, family situation, mix of gaming and productivity, etc. I know these videos are a ton of work, but know that at least one viewer out there is stoked every time you post something. Having said all of that, I’m really interested in your opinion of the Dell 40” you mention in this video. I just bought one recently and the dark fringing around the edges of the monitor was so bad that I had to send it back. e.g. When my email inbox was on the left, the list of folders would have a grey background and the list of emails more toward the center would be white background as expected. Is this just a reality of IPS Black panels and their viewing angles, or did I get a dud?
I saw a fantastic 2024 model monitor at Best Buy, but it’s not ideal for productivity. However, I believe LG will soon release a similar monitor with a higher pixel density. Great video :)
I prefer 2 monitors since i connect to Citrix for office work. So Citrix can occupy one monitor in full-screen mode, and allow me the do Alt+Tab to switch between apps within my office citrix session.
@3:41 So I have the SAMSUNG 49-Inch Odyssey G9 Series DQHD 1000R Curved, and I notice the large pixels on screen mentioned here. Would the OLED version of this monitor fix that problem OR do I need to go with a 5120x2160 monitor to gain that vertical resolution? My main use is Motion Graphics, 3d Animation full-time freelance, and gaming might be 25 percent of the use. Thanks @PeteMatheson
I bought the Samsung G9 2.5 years ago and my monitor died from a manufacturing defect about 2 weeks ago. I called Samsung and I was told by their rep "this is a prime example why people like you should learn to buy the extend warranty", not sure why the Samsung rep decided to be mean instantly, especially since I started the call being respectful and expecting them to stand by their product. But in the end, he said Samsung cannot help me, even if it's a know defect and they said I can be transferred to their sales department to purchase a new monitor. If Samsung won't stand by their product, it makes it hard for me to trust Samsung products, especially on a monitor that expensive. I WILL NOT BE BUYING A SINGLE SAMSUNG PRODUCT AGAIN.

OLEDs WILL degrade over time. It isn't a matter of if, but when. If you baby it by turning the screen off while away, or keeping as many static images away from it as possible, you should be able to get a few solid years out of it. Owning an OLED is being on a timer, but during the honeymoon phase, your experience should generally be superior in most ways to any other panel type (other than your constant worrying about burn in.)
I've owned oleds for a few years now. TVs, monitors, for games, TV, Mac and windows, and not once have I suffered burn in. Yes there are cases where I've seen people have been affected, but it's definitely the minority 👍🏼 crack on and enjoy your monitor. Anti burn in tech is getting better and better every year, so every year it's even less of an issue
A thing to note about "anti burn in tech" is that it works by uniformly burning in the pixels to prevent image retention. This inevitably means that your max brightness will dim over time, but it shouldn't be noticeable for a long time, given the insane contrast OLEDs provide.
I run a Samsung QD Oled Samsung G8 Monitor I've had it almost for a year. I use solidworks nearly 8 hours a day so lots of icons and static interface on the screen almost all day. No signs of burn it yet. You can see burn in protection shifting everything slightly every couple of minutes, doesn't bother me at all. Every couple of days when I turn it off at the end of the day it pops up a message, that's it running a screen refresh that runs for about 20 minutes. Honestly it's not an issue. The Oled displays are so clear and so vibrant it's worth. Everything from solidworks, to outlooks, to extended gaming sessions in cyberpunk looks absolutely stunning.
My current setup is a 34" main monitor in the middle then two 27" screens flanking both sides. I like the setup because the pixel density is the same across all screens and the portrait screens are great for browsing, reading ebooks, side tasks and shopping.
Great review except the fact that there is no one word about OLED burn in. If this is a guide for picking a monitor for productivity, it means more static images and lots of text, exactly where OLED suffers the most
How does a Mac not scale right? I have a Macbook and an iPad Pro and never had any issues with scaling when connected to a 4k 32inch screen. Is that with specific screen sizes and resolutions? And the scaling of some programs in Windows is far from perfect. So my experience is the other way around.
Saw you’re review on the 57” neo G9. Would love to get your take on a deal Costco is running on a different version of the G9 which is currently $749.99 compared to the neo G9 which is $1,599.99. I need it for productivity.
Is there any 5120x2160 40'' IPS monitor with better curvature (all of them I found have 2500R)? I am using 49'' Samsung CRG90 with 1800R and this would be a downgrade. I am actually choosing between Dell U4025QW and Samsung 57'' G9 Neo. And I prefer IPS so it might be my main monitor for next 10 years. I have already burned-in image in my VA Samsung CRG90 after 4 and half year of daily usage.
Hi! You mention that the 49 inch g9 has USB-C connectivity for macbooks, but in your review video of it a couple of months ago you say it doesnt. Could you please clarify which one of the two it is :)?
Haha! I was confused too - it seems there is a newer model that has USB-C, but it also didn't have the Tizen interface - I need to look into it more but I believe there are currently 2 versions that you can buy. The one I reviewed, and one that we bought in recently for another video which had the extra USB-C connection.

I am searching for an Monitor for Studying and first of all reading many articles in splitscreen. I prefer the Apple products (iPad Pro, MacBook and MacStudio). Have you any preference of monitor here ? Thanks 🙏
I am really confused between IPS avs OLED exclusively for productivity. I heard OLED text is not clear and has burn in issues but these monitors have the resolution and aspect ratio I am looking for, 21:9 45". IPS monitor have very few (if any) options for large displays. I will exclusively use these monitors for trading and coding no gaming at all.
Thanks Pete there's a lot of information , but in your opinion which OLED curved is the better on the market for Mac's as I do a lot of reading .... lots .... sometimes have to be reformatted from jpeg to PDF and it gets compromised in terms of clarity. I love the idea of curved but the prices are up there ! Currently I use a 28 samsung which is 3 yrs old . Shall I go a double monitor or go OLED ? I love the idea of having may tabs opened at a glance like you did on the video Thanks

@@PeteMatheson for the Dell is it worth loosing the extra 9” I’d get with say a G9 or the LG? I mean if there is something better than the Dell in a 49” I’d spend more $$$. I wonder if the higher resolution makes and the KVM hub make up for the 9” I would be loosing?
That’s the question we’ve all asked ourselves! I’ve decided to keep the G9 as my main screen and my editor is using the Dell now. I think you could buy either though and be very happy with the purchase
Built in Speakers: don't these take the job from a laptop's speakers for a lot of users? If you have THE most dialed desk and speaker setup, or happen to be on ear/headphones, then sure, that's better. But no-one seems to want to talk about a tier system of sound. Say starting at a phone, then a cheap bleutooth speaker or a bad laptop, etc. I'm on a laptop now, and about to get my first standalone monitor since an SVGA 14" tubular model decades ago. Built in speakers seem like a big deal to me 😀

Hey Pete, thanks for the video! Can you share what webcam and mic you used for this video? Thanks in advance!
Pete, what camera did you have mounted on the 40" dell for video calls, etc...? Does it have a built-in mic?
Ah yes! It's the Insta360 Link. Have used it since it was launched - brilliant camera, and yes it does, but the mic isn't the best
What do you use for smartphone stand? want a stand docked to my table like yours.
Great videos, thank you. I have noted in your other review on the 57 inch, that you didnt rate mac book pro max3 compatibility very high. I need to use word, a lot, writing a massive academic doc. Plus I also use adobe, indesign, lightroom and premiere. Thoughts??? Thank you, Terri
You’re talking my language with those ultra wide monitors! But am worried about burn in with the OLEDs. Should I be?
I just ordered the Dell AW3225QF. What are your thoughts on it? I plan on using it for productivity and gaming.
My current setup is a 34" main monitor in the middle then two 27" screens flanking both sides. I like the setup because the pixel density is the same across all screens and the portrait screens are great for browsing, reading ebooks, side tasks and shopping.
Fantastic video mate! Helped me a lot for choosing the right screen.
Love the skins on your macbook air 10:49, may I ask where I can buy it?
@@maniche555 I think it is from dbrand.
This channel deserves more attention
@@PeteMatheson thanks a lot!!
Hey, Thanks for such a thorough guide!
How would you rate the DellU3425WE?
Basically I am looking for an All-Arounder monitor, but I am restricted from my desk space to only fit a
I am searching for an Monitor for Studying and first of all reading many articles in splitscreen. I prefer the Apple products (iPad Pro, MacBook and MacStudio). Have you any preference of monitor here ? Thanks 🙏
10:36 what exact webcam model is that? 😯😯
After watching this I know that I need the super ultrawide monitor.
Do it 👀😬
idk if theres already a video on this probably not but i'd love to see a video about the ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM
Please review the Dell 40 inch ultrawide...
if you change the in-game resolution, doesnt it allow you to section the middle of the monitor for the game so you can have other apps on the side?
Whats the difference between the samsumg Odyssey an ViewFinity series?
Thanks Pete there's a lot of information , but in your opinion which OLED curved is the better on the market for Mac's as I do a lot of reading .... lots .... sometimes have to be reformatted from jpeg to PDF and it gets compromised in terms of clarity. I love the idea of curved but the prices are up there ! Currently I use a 28 samsung which is 3 yrs old . Shall I go a double monitor or go OLED ? I love the idea of having may tabs opened at a glance like you did on the video
Thanks
So what am looking for ultra wide 40” to 54” but I want thunderbolt 4 for my Mac book M3 Pro, and I also need support for windows. What monitor would you recommend? Also planning using the caldigit TS4
Would that dell 40" monitor be an option for you?
@@PeteMatheson for the Dell is it worth loosing the extra 9” I’d get with say a G9 or the LG? I mean if there is something better than the Dell in a 49” I’d spend more $$$. I wonder if the higher resolution makes and the KVM hub make up for the 9” I would be loosing?
That’s the question we’ve all asked ourselves!
I’ve decided to keep the G9 as my main screen and my editor is using the Dell now.
I think you could buy either though and be very happy with the purchase
@@PeteMatheson I bought the Dell 40” ultrasharp and love it.
whats best for a mac productivity other than apple studio display?
What is the biggest curved monitor that will work with Mini Mac 2 ?
Built in Speakers: don't these take the job from a laptop's speakers for a lot of users?
If you have THE most dialed desk and speaker setup, or happen to be on ear/headphones, then sure, that's better. But no-one seems to want to talk about a tier system of sound. Say starting at a phone, then a cheap bleutooth speaker or a bad laptop, etc.
I'm on a laptop now, and about to get my first standalone monitor since an SVGA 14" tubular model decades ago. Built in speakers seem like a big deal to me 😀
I'm agreeing with you. Plus when my headphone is not working I want at least here some sound.
Please review the 40 inch dell, i am currently considering to switch from a 3×27 inch setup to just the 40 inch dell. I would also love a comparison from the 40 inch dell to a 49 inch ultra wide. Fingers crossed :-)
Do you know can get high resolution on g9 49" oled with mac mini m2 ?
So no flicker PWM dimming mention. Which are eye safe? which have low blue light mode?
Hey! Did you link the pixels per inch website for mac users? I didn’t find it in the description of the video 😣
Sorry! Here it is! www.displayninja.com/what-is-pixel-density/
Did Samsung happen to update the G9 Oled to work easily with mac or do you still have to use the CalDigit?
Yes, post a full review of the Dell Ultrawide
The 57” Samsung is my dream monitor. But I heard people are experiencing issues with that particular monitor. So I am not willing to spend $3k just to deal with issues
just returned my 3rd one they all have had several pixels out and two died within 4 days power up but no display I just got an Ark and its got lines so Im officially donw w Samsung just dont know what to do now
I have not experienced anything bad with it, also managed to get it for 1800 dollars.
Would be great to see a full review of that Dell monitor!
It's coming on 31st August!
Interestingly no LG in her? I use a 38" monitor at work and have the LG 38WR85QC-W incoming as my personal monitor...
Many thanks for the informative video. I really like an OLED display but am worry about the burn in issue as I am mainly using it for work. Please advise if this is a concern with today's OLED monitors.
I've owned oleds for a few years now. TVs, monitors, for games, TV, Mac and windows, and not once have I suffered burn in. @@PeteMatheson Thanks again for the info Pete. One last questions, With a budget of under $1,500, what is your recommendation of a 32" to 40" OLED primary for casual work monitor hooking up to a Alienware desktop which I am planning to get. Really appreciate your advise and info!🙏
HDMI 2.1 situation faked me when I bought a monitor with 165 htz refresh but was limited to 144 htz. _Only DP support higher refresh rate of 165 + right now._
Which 32:9 display(s) support multiple concurrent sources and seamless KVM USB switching which alternating between sources?
Would love to see the dell 40” reviewed
Hopefully soon! If Dell say yes!
As I've seen you testing so many monitors,
may I ask which monitor arm company or model you would recommend,
especially for larger or heavier screens?
I tried out Onkron and Forging Mount, both couldn't handle my Odyssey G7 Neo :(
Secretlab Monitor Arm - geni.us/SECRETLAB_MONITOR_ARM (SUPPORTS 57-INCH!)
@@PeteMatheson Thank you very much Pete :)
For a person who doesn't game, at all, and is just looking at office productivity, what do you recommend? Currently I have 2 27" positioned center and right, a 34" wide screen in portrait on the left, and a 25" in upper right position. I want to try an ultra wide to replace 3 normal panels and keep my portrait display (I split the screen and keep outlook mail and calendar stacked). I keep open 8-10 applications/windows most days, it's all PowerPoint, Word, excel, web browser, and stuff like that. Suggestions for choosing a great wide-screen?
Simple! This one... ruclips.net/video/8Rf5pAZGx3E/видео.html
OLED for productivity?
Hi, I am very interested in buying the Samsung Odyssey G9 (2024) 49-inch curved monitor but my PC has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. I read on some websites that this GPU was capable of running the monitor well, but I wanted to ask you if this is true or not. Thank you for the video!
I have a Monoprice 49”. Paid $700
Itching to buy the 59” Samsung
Have a MBP M1-Max But I’d have to dish out $1,800 😢. No gaming just productivity. Work. Audio editing What to do
What is more game immersive, 40 inch screen with 21:09 aspect ratio or 49 inch screen with 32:9
Thunderbolt 4 USB c cable to HDMI 2.1 cable gets me 7680x2@2160 120hz for productivity on a 2 year laptop.
Super comprehensive coverage, I would know cos I had filtered all those measures. However, neck strain is core to me, as such I try to not to touch 40 inch (16:9) and above, thus I had moved on to curved ultra wide namely. I am 6 ft tall.
yes would love the review of the dell please!
What is the name of that that auto tracking web cam you have on your monitor?
Wondering this too!
I'm fond of this monitor, but I'm uncertain about its compatibility with macOS.
Say Pete, what an excellent Video. Very Ilustrative and informing. Quesion: With a MAc Studio, M2, 64ram an 1tb of sdd and 38 core GPU, what ultrawide would you recommend? I currently have 3 27 inch 2660x1440 monitors.
Thoughts on the Dell UltraSharp U4025QW?
How about the U4323?
