I have always loved restoring Tonka trucks from the Mini Tonka series. This series ran throughout the 1960's and a lot of the pieces that survived are in need of some serious restoration. This Model # 1056 was a great example of a beautiful toy from a vintage era that needed a professional restoration! So sit back and enjoy the restoration video, and if you like what you see, feel free to subscribe and leave a comment!

Great save. Now it can live another lifetime.
Absolutely!
Nothing is more satisfying than these restorations! I love seeing the whole process and the before/after photos at the end!
Thank you! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
You are absolutely very talented
Thank you! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Great outcome Tim
Good to see another restoration from your garage.
Take care
Thanks 👍
Fantastic restoration !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks!
Excellent restoration.
Again a wonderful restoration. Nice color, brilliant paint job. Too bad you don't have a frontgate.
Another great job. Loved the sandblasting intro.
Always entertaining & relaxing. I am always amazed there are people who make parts for these toys.
Glad you enjoyed it
An absolute winner!
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Yes! I love the YAAAAAY at the sand blaster too! It’s your trademark! That’s one of many reasons why I subscribed. Beautiful restoration. I love that shade of blue and that you kept the original colors. A lot of the other restorers change things and then still try to call it a restoration. Yours is a true restoration! I always wondered why Tonka left the truck flat where the interior is supposed to be on this era of Jeeps. All the models based on that cab were like that. Looks really strange because you can see it right through the glass. Surely an interior couldn’t have added much cost to an otherwise realistic model.
It's gotten to the point that while I enjoy the efforts of the several good restorers, if I'm having a particularly bad day, I click on TRG for a little kid Yay fest.
This may be your best resto yet. Very fine job.
Thank you! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Nice little truck, another great job bringing a much loved toy back to life, sir you are the boss, Cheers from the land down under.
Hello TRG beautiful restoration good job
Thank you so much 🤗
That YAAAAAAAAY effect before blastin' is always gets me :) Good job mate!
Thanks! 😄
Great restoration. The way you remain faithful to the original design and colours is fantastic. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Love your restoration work. Really nice job!
And your sense of humor is most enjoyable.
Thank you very much!
Great to have you back! A saw this on Facebook earlier when it came on youtube I had to watch it again. Awesome job 1🙂🚗🛠
Thanks! It's hard to put out videos consistently this time of year
Nice job !
Thanks!
Awesome restoration
Welcome back! Lol... when you were removing the rivets at the beginning, muting the volume and speeding it up, it sounded EXACTLY like the sound of my dentist’s drill when sitting in his chair wearing my headphones! 😱
Great video, Sir! ~ John from Ohio
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
You left out the amazing work you did straighten out that bed. Beautiful as always.
I noticed that, too.
Great job, brings back a lot of childhood memories. It dos look like there's supposed to be a front gate as well like on all stake bed trucks though. Am I right?
yes there is supposed to be one on the front and back. They are really hard to find though.
Is there any differences between the front panel vs back panel??
That isn't just a restoration. That's a return from the toy graveyard back to life. Impressive.
Thank you! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Well Done Again!
I love that powder coat paint.
Nice & Clean👌
Great restoration bro. I think the hard work was worth it. Yep no matter what you do you can make everyone happy. Everyone has an opinion. I just enjoyed seeing you working on it!! 😁🤟👍
Well said! Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thank you for cutting the volume on the high pitched rotary tool. Makes it easier to listen with earbuds.
No problem 👍
great job !
Thank you! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thank you I enjoy watching your videos reminds me of all my Tonka trucks that I had until somebody decides to steal them from me when I was a kid
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Sharp! Better than new!
Good my friend ❤❤🌺🌺
The quiet dremel is a plus
Sounds too much like a dental tool to leave the volume unmuted lol
@@TRGRESTORATIONS if you want help with a restoration I’m available
Very nicely done great job👍🏼
Thanks 👍
great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
My grandpa had a truck just like that he used to haul hay in for his cows
What a transformation!
Side note; I'd love to see you remake one of these trucks, make it RC, and make it souped up, or mod. That would be awesome!
Great job as usual! The blue color is perfect and your new rivet tool is awesome. Looking forward to more restorations and foundry videos when you get the time!
More to come! This time of year is busy so it's hard to make content, but hopefully by May I should be back to putting out a new video each week.
Looks fantastic! As always! Glad you're back, missed your videos man.
Thanks! The free time to create videos gets pretty limited this time of year. Hopefully in May I'll be back to posting every week.
Excelente restauracion de este camión de estaca Tonka, de los años 60 mis respetos y saludos desde Venezuela.💯👍🤘🙏

The UV bleaching is my favorite part, always so amazing!
Mine too!
I appreciate you muting when using the dremel. Thank you.
No problem 👍
I enjoy the "POP" sound when you replace the pieces. 👂😄👂😄👂😄😎
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

that was badass
Thank you! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@TRGRESTORATIONS your welcome
Nice job.
Great job... when new the rear stake bed had a front and back that could slide up and be taken off. Have you ever tried putting the headlights in the hydrogen peroxide bath too? It should take some of the yellow out of them. When new they were clear.
Yeah I would have loved to have 2 gates for this one, but they are nearly impossible to find. I soaked these headlights off camera, they cleared up a lot from what they originally were. Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
At the 7:00 mark, I thought you were going to break out your trusty ol' Dremel Versa tool. Boy, was I wrong lol
Hey, great restoration of a cool little Tonka. Always puts a smile on my face when an old metal toy breathes new life.
Thanks! Doing these gives me a great excuse to buy more tools! lol
Wow, another amazing job
Thank you! Cheers!
Good result! Greetings from Germany!
Danke fürs zuschauen!
Oh my gosh. I love that blue. Great job!
SOOO KOOOOOLLLL .
Awesome work as always.
Love this truck .
Thanks 👍
Love early morning videos. This and some good coffee are all I need. Thanks bro.
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Nice 👍
Yeaaaa nice job
Buen trabajo !! Precioso !!

Don't let 'Chip Channel' get ahold of that truck, or you'll never be able to get his sheep out of the bed, lol...
lol, would look good full of little Chip Sheep!
Just add some cat snacks. Beaker will take care of the sheep... (scare them away, that is. „We‘re ok!“)
you did a fine job (as usual)
Admittedly better than I can do, however on another "channel" there's an individual that actually primes & wet sands the finish regarding the restoration. They also color match the original better than this example. Interesting hobby
Lol good to know
Campeão. Excelente
I had this truck as a child...it is now buried somewhere in western Louisiana not far off HWY 290

Heloooo...from Indonesia
Hi bro✋✋✋ from India🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Really nice restoration! How come more people don't use powder coat? The paint job looks amazing - though I guess a fair amount of skill and equipment must be involved 😉
Yeah, even a cheap set up will cost around $300-$400. It's easier and cheaper for some guys to just use spray paint
Oh man I so badly want to make that radio control
yeah that would be cool!
I couldn't help but think of "The Crow and the Pitcher" from Aesop's Fables or Archimedes discovering the principle of displacement when I saw the cup overflowing once the tires were dropped in!
Cool. I was thinking about how my Kuerig only dispenses 8-ounces of hot water at a time 🤘🏼😂
Nice video Distracting gloves from the restoration
Thanks for watching
Great looking truck restoration. Where do you get you replacement parts? Thanks for saving another toy.
Ebay, Gasoline Alley Toys, and Thomas Antique Toys
@@TRGRESTORATIONS thank you
@@TRGRESTORATIONS. Did the replacement screen come from there? I ask as I’ve been told new ones are not made for the Jeep models?
The cobalt blue sets it off.
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Was it supposed to have one of those panels in the front to sir??? Great job by the way to, i personally would have pin striped it myself, just to highlight the great body lines of the truck
Yeeeeah
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Tonka trucks in Australia always have red backs
Good to know!
@@TRGRESTORATIONS your welcome!
Cara porque você trocou a cabine? Pensa que não notamos?
What did he change about it, other than replacing the windshield section?
Came for the sandblasting, stayed for the... well, everything! Another superb restoration (and a bonus unboxing! :D )
PS. I could be wrong but should the barrier be at the back or at the cabin side? Forgive my lack of knowledge.
You are correct. There is actually supposed to be one at the from and back of the bed. Unfortunately they are very hard to find. The world of Ebay only had one available.
Good restoration Tim. Question: Since it appears to be a fixed and not a pivoting tailgate what would be the need to have the dump mechanism?
Not sure. It lifts up and off though. Which is the reason they are so hard to fund these days
nice work, What did you put in the water for the tires?
Nice work! Just wondering where do you get your skeleton gloves from?
Looks great ! Did you do any modifications to your Smoke Hollow to get the temperature to 400, or will get to 400 without modification,
Where do you find replacement windshields? your videos have inspired me to try restoring my own tonkas and I have a couple of those jeep gladiators but one is missing the windshield.
any response?
Another lovely restoration!
How long is the UV light stage to whiten yellow plastic? Thanks!
hmm, I never really set it for a specific time. I just leave it overnight. You can't really over do it.

Was there a front bed part?
👍!
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@TRGRESTORATIONS, no problem!
Where did you find extra parts?
Very nice job. How long, and at what temp, do you outgas? Huggs captjack
I'm not sure if there is an exact formula. My oven tops out at 400 degrees, I usually let them sit in there for about 15 minutes. I figure once the metal gets up to 400, it's not going to get any hotter, so by that point it's done all it's going to do. Seems to be working out.
@@TRGRESTORATIONS Thank you as I do the same just going by the seat of my pants.
Of course I use the old baked enamel finishes. Thank you...captjack...
Hi Tim, how long... Well done, buddy!
Greetings from a brazilian citzen in Chile.
Thank you! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
@@TRGRESTORATIONS, no dude, thank you! Because of you, I started to make restorations. The worst part in South America is the difficulty to find specific tools and parts to replace the old ones. Here all things are very expensive. If you compare with the U.S. the cost here to do this kind of job is 3 or 4 times more expensive. Because of that, the things here are much more artisanal and you need to improvise a lot to finish the restoration.
Do you have a spare grill and a fire truck light
Love your restoration videos
Can I ask where you find the spares/ reproduction parts?
Thanks and keep posting
Ebay usually
I don't like those tires there a pain in the buttons find rims for,to bad that you couldn't find a different pair of tires for the truck, isn't there supposed to be a front piece for the stakes behind the cab
Le faltó hacer una parte de la redila
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
*50 years later* Another restorer: Who the hell put epoxy on the wheels?
Nice job bro.
lol, maybe they will have epoxy dissolving lasers by then
Lol, may be you should start restoring things spider related since you always have something with them
lol maybe so
