I was 9 and I never understood the password system and played it from start every new attempt. I remember rainy days after school, sitting on the carpet in front of the CRT TV. Only allowed to play till 6pm because then my parents would watch the news. I did beat it finally. The tension with so much to lose and the seemingly never ending route to Dr Willy. It felt like a real achievement, but also kind of sad i had reached the end. I remember that day still, it was one of those rainy days.
I can tell everyone here is in their late 30s to early 40s lol. What a time to be alive. Music. Tv. Video games. Professional sports. No internet. Cheap gas. Saturday morning cartoons. VHS. Cassette Tapes. Love letters. Mall Arcades. ShowBiz Pizza.
I’m also just a teenager that has good parents. They really appreciate the 80s and 90s and showed me many things from it. I may not have been around then, but I feel like I missed out on the greatest decade. I wish I could’ve been there
I beat this game so many times when I was a kid. I was addicted to it. I have all 6 original NES carts and still play this one to completion from time to time. My parents were drug addicts when I was young (they're clean now thankfully) and I didn't have many friends until high school so video games essentially became my friends. I love each and every one of these tracks as you might a cherished acquaintance from a bygone era. Each one not only unlocks some some deeply ingrained core memory, but also immediately invokes the ~30 year old feelings that accompany that memory.
Sucks that you had to deal with that as a kid. But at least your 'friends' were and still remain classics. I grew up playing Megaman 2 and 3, Ninja Turtles the Arcade Game and Batman on the NES. Could do a lot worse than playing videogames to not have to deal with harsh reality.
Takashi Tateishi was one of the best composers Mega Man ever had. The level of energy in these tracks is unrivaled throughout the entire classic series in my opinion.

A few months ago I composed a soundtrack for a short game called TimeZooka, and I had memories of this soundtrack in the back of my mind giving me inspiration despite not having heard this in years. Finally listened to this today and wow the nostalgia!
So grateful to the creators of this incredible game. Music producers are astounding for what they had available. Making wonderful highly remembered music that gives me nostalgia from when I was only single digit age (with single digit 8 bit audio). Amazing
Single digit 8 bit audio? I don't know what that is. It had 5 independent, programmable, sound channels (2 squares, 1 triangle, 1 noise, and a delta-encoded sample playback). One of those (the sample playback) had a 7-bit range, while the others had 4-bit range. Still great music despite the limitations, yes.

Seriously great music. Look what they were working with. The arrangements are perfect for the hardware and the melodies are fantastic. They have real bands and orchestra music in games now and this puts most modern game soundtracks to absolute shame.
I haven't played this for over 30 years, but can still remember every melody, bassline, percussion as if it was yesterday. It might be etched into my brain.
I remember waking up my older bro at like 6am to tell him that I beat Megaman 2. I must have gotten up at like 4am or something to play it. Probably the first game that I beat before he did. I was so stoked, he just went back to sleep lol. One of the most satisfying games to beat since it took a lot of practice and skill, but wasn't cheap or overly frustrating. And the music kicks ass.
One of The all time great video game soundtracks of all times. (along with Streets of Rage 2) I been playing this video for a long time & it still doesn't get old. Simply, MEMORIES BABY!!! lol
My friend, it was done by japanese people. They usually go 110% at w/e they do at the moment. Sometimes they pay high price but it's their culture. We are thankful for and happy with the results. Woodman nice ;)
@Mallory Oakes I honestly think they meant hard in the traditional sense. I can see why people would consider it hard, im looking back with experience so its probably unfair for me to say its not a hard game.
Man, listening to this soundtrack brings back tons of memories. I still have my NES and the cart in storage. Makes me want to crack it open and play. Still one of the most satisfying games to beat. The Mega Man series was always a go to for me.
The intro and 17:13 are my favorites. The rest of the game had stellar music as well, but those two points are the greatest in my opinion . I can still hum along to it to this day at 37 years old😂. One of the most iconic nes soundtracks!
The composers were not 'limited by the technology of the time'. This was state of the art for its time, the real leading edge. They did an amazing job!

Its impressive that they managed to make such a jamming and complex soundtrack with the limited sound tech the NES had
Exactly. This sounds great, but to be truly honest, it doesn't begin to touch what Tim Follin was capable of at the same time.
Absolutely! For its time this was pushing the NES's limited audio chipset to its absolute limits. But god was it glorious.
I think the limited technology of the era really forced composers into making the melodies absolutely slap.

Bubble Man Theme...DAMN! Makes me so melancholy.
Same. And I'm in 2024

Wood Man... is good (07:57) and Dr. Wily’s Castle (17:13) is like the best video game soundtrack Ever Created.!!!
dr. wily stage sounds like the end of the word, so awesome
The title screen of this game and Wily’s Castle have to be the most iconic mega man song of all time, and definitely up there in the most iconic video game songs(Behind 1-1, Green Hill Zone, and Tetris.)

This was the first game I ever owned for myself and I still hum the songs to myself from time to time. :D
I remember having to ask my big sister for help on some of the levels as a kid.
Me too from time to time I get a random stage song like woodman or airman
A few months ago I composed a soundtrack for a short game called TimeZooka, and I had memories of this soundtrack in the back of my mind giving me inspiration despite not having heard this in years. Finally listened to this today and wow the nostalgia!
This music still gives me find memories. I will never forget mega man 2.
So grateful to the creators of this incredible game. Music producers are astounding for what they had available. Making wonderful highly remembered music that gives me nostalgia from when I was only single digit age (with single digit 8 bit audio). Amazing
Seriously just so genius, sound design is brilliant

Best mega man soundtrack of all time
Hands. down.
Mega Man X is a close second for me.
Debateable with mm9.
The Beginning Sounds Golden
Undoubtedly the best soundtrack of the entire saga.
When you understand the game and music, it will made so much sense that you'd shed your tears of joy listening to this masterpiece.
One of The all time great video game soundtracks of all times. (along with Streets of Rage 2) I been playing this video for a long time & it still doesn't get old. Simply, MEMORIES BABY!!! lol

@@yominishijama6204 Hello, no.
One of the best original sound tracks I ever heard.
They really didn't need to go this freaking hard for their *_second_* attempt. Yet they did. And for that, we we're grateful.
Hard?

I sold my NES games some time back because of financial issues, I looked at this game and went.. I don't want to, but have to. Megaman.
I love flash mans music and how it goes perfectly with his stage.
Bubble Man's theme might be my favorite piece of video game music ever. It is indescribable how it makes me feel. It's amazing
It is my favorite in this game too. Many “water stage” music in video games has that certain appeal to me and this is the epitome of it.
@@friedchikenwatermeln I certainly agree
The intro and 17:13 are my favorites. The rest of the game had stellar music as well, but those two points are the greatest in my opinion . I can still hum along to it to this day at 37 years old😂. One of the most iconic nes soundtracks!
Had a certain megaman theme stuck in my head, it isn't one of these but listening to megaman soundtracks never fails to bring a smile on my face.

The composers were not 'limited by the technology of the time'. This was state of the art for its time, the real leading edge. They did an amazing job!

I keep coming back to this soundtrack, it’s only gotten better with age. The Air Man guitar solo by Manami Matsumae absolutely KILLS.
