The biggest thing I want people to get out of this video is to start creating. The only real way to increase your skills is to continuously create and make mistakes. Making mistakes and working on them is what makes us better at what we do. Without creating anything, we can't make those mistakes then we can't learn what not to do. Pick up your Sony a6000 or what ever camera you have and start creating. Start with the basics of better lighting and focus on your framing and composition. When you being to understand your limitations, then you may understand you need to upgrade some of your gear. Don't just go out there and buy everything.
In this video I dive into my picture profile settings of the Sony a6000 used with the kit lens 16-50mm f3.5-5.6. Make sure you try learn how to shoot manual. This is extremely important and can dramatically increase your quality within minutes just with this simple technique.

I have my a6000 for a week, and I've upgraded to a Sigma 56 mm 1.4, such a huge difference! I use my camera mostly for photography. P. S: Thanks a lot Jason for keeping the a6000 " alive" :) This camera still holds strong even in 2021!

Jason Thanks fo Keeping A6000 alive just to let you know that it is a Brilliant Camera till date in spite of Sony has launched A1 but I am basically aWildlife Enthusiast and I have taken some Brilliant Wildlife Images with my SonyA6000 and its 11 fps is great Yes I definitely agree with you that Fisrt you have to lnow your gear and Shoot wherever you can Thanks a lot .

Been crying loud inside with pain and hurt as I only have the kit lens. All my friends use their 1.4 wide angle lenses and Expensive GMasters with gimbals. I only have the Kit lens and the a cheap monopod. Thank you and respect for this video brother 🎉❤
get the 50mm Sony prime lens, you can get used ones for next to nothing

Reppin the A6000 still, ditched the kit lens within a few days of getting it for the Sigma 16mm 1.4 and Samyang 12mm 2.0 purely for photography, but love how video-capable this little beast is!
I have the A6400 and kit lens but also the 30mm Sigma - in low light is it better to use the OSS on the kit lens or risk the Sigma with no IBIS or OSS? Handheld that is!
Great stuff Jason 👏🏼 I shot an interior shop video with a kit lens, portrait mode as they wanted it for reels, it was terrible, most of the shots were out of focus, was shooting handled. This is basically what I own, how can I improve with the same? Maybe the settings ?
auto focus is not the greatest in lower light situations for the a6000. the only other way is to upgrade the lens or try manual focus. I manual focus quite a lot as it usually is easier with experience

When you record RUclips videos with the a6000, what are you using for audio?
I use the Synco Mic D1 recorded into the Zoom H5
I have the a6000 with the kit lens. I'm self employed with 0 time for things that interest me. That needs to change! When I do take pictures, it's nature for me not people. I want to take some shots early in the am( still dark) kinda of a outdoor mall setting. There are a lot of trees with lights, this caught my attention. What are your suggestions?

Can I use this configuration for photos??
You can but it is more for videos so the image isn't so sharp or too contrasty which sometimes doesn't look great in video but looks great in photo

I would in a heartbeat. The A6000 is a legend for a reason! Rent one,buy one,borrow it...use one for a day and you'll know.

@@israelrodriguezalejandro6957 Isreal! Personally,I would,but it really depends on your needs. We STILL use an A6000 and it's perfect for pics and video. We had a short learning curve but Jason's videos cut it down to about 2 days worth of time. It came down to $ and what lenses we needed. We use 4 different Sony E mount lenses,all with OSS. Smooth video w/o a gimbal is a sweet thing and we rarely have to do much post editing. We spent about $600 for the a6000 body,about $700 on used,but mint, lenses. Good luck!
