I almost had mental breakdown trying to switch these tires:) Too say it´s difficult is an understatement, Xiaomi should tell you "changing tires is an almost impossible task if you happen to have a flat".... then I went to the cycle repairshop next to me, he too almost had a mental breakdown but after a while managed to do it:)
Had same thing at my bike shop 😂😂 finally replaced the front tire last night myself and I wanted to break things. Just as I got to work the front tire went flat again.. Oooo that was fun
I did it! It wasn't easy for sure. But it also wasn't impossible. To get the valve out, I used and allen key that was about the same size as the valve stem and tapped with a hammer. It actually went way better than expected. The real hard part was getting the tire back on. I boiled it in water and used a grease lubricant on the tire wall and on the rim. The key is having long tire irons/levers. Mine were short which mad it really hard. I ending up using one short tire lever, one regular flat head screwdriver, and the key to finishing it was a long flat bike pedal wrench. It's all about leverage. If I do this again I will definitely invest in long tire levers and maybe enlist a second set of hands to help hold the levers down (I used two hands and a foot.) Best of luck!!
Reading all these complaints, I just wanted to point out that indeed, first time is challenging AF and it took ages, but the key is not to heat up the tire or to apply a crazy amount of brute force, key is TO USE THE RIGHT TOOLS trust me!!! It looked like and odyssey without them, once I used 2 BAR CLAMPS to hold the main part in place and some metal bars for leverage to put the final part of the tire in, it became surprisingly easy!! For the valve, if the hole is also annoying you, carefully enlarge it A BIT with a drill. Be safe though and good luck :)
I curse a day when I bought this garbage. Changing tire is just a torture. I am so angry right now and my hands are all red. thanks for the video though
ben Cooper I got solid tires as well the ones you described with holes. I didn't put it yet on I am mentally not ready to go through this hell again :) In a meantime I got a new scooter falcon ZERO 10x. Its very big and heavy but much better quality, smooth ride because has suspension and I feel safer now
ben Cooper this is too accurate the valve is damn near impossible to get off and the tire is hard as a bitch to get off and my solid tire probably isn’t event gonna be able to be put on in the time frame that I have. Same thing happened to me. First the rear tire goes and I put a solid tire on that and now the front which is already a nightmare and I haven’t even boiled the tire
ben Cooper I change fI'm tire to solid as well. now its horrible I don't enjoy riding it at all. I have feel every single thing on a road :( I think it can only be an option for somebody very light weight
ben Cooper I am 94 but you are right. as long as those damn punctures won't happen again its worth it. Also you kind of get used to a less smooth ride :) Also I've noticed that experience may wary depending on type of shoes I'm wearing
Hey! Usually I don't write RUclips comments, however you literally saved me a time with a spoon usage! I spent hours trying to remove a tire, however only your method worked. Thanks a lot!
THANK YOU! Vaseline and 2 minutes in the miccowave warmed the tyire up enough that I could just stake on it, jiggle about a bit and it slid right on. Having said that, I needed a dremel to cut the inner tube valve - somehow its too long to actually come out.
Thank you ! You saved my life and YES I lost about 2000 calories trying to get the tire out and the new one back in (the sloid one!!) TIP ..... TIP ....... If you don't want to use the Microwave : BOIL water in a pot, turn it OFF and stick the tire in for 5 mins !!! It works !!!!
This is one of the most difficult! energy sapping things I have done! First attempt to microwave tyre caused a burnt tyre and smoke that stank the house for weeks! I changed the next tyre to a solid using hot water then both knees and 4 screw drivers! I then had a flat front tyre, more tricky as there is a wire attached. This one I did in the microwave using 30 sec blasts. I gave up a few times after spending 30 mins / 1 hour trying. Just finished the 2nd tyre. For this reason I could not recommend the scooter!
Don't let the simplicity of this video trick you, it's a nightmare replacing this tire. All the tricky parts (the most difficult parts) have been edited out from the video. For example, He did not show how he got the air valve in/out for example. Maybe because he did not insert the inner tube. Pay attention toward the end of the video, there is no air valve in the hole. Long story short, replacing the tire is very difficult and frustrating.
Exactly, where the bloody hell is the inner tube?? I managed to do this but by the end I completely destroyed the inner tube...back to the droving board!!
I congratulate you on your work. I found your idea of using products such as spoons and Vaseline particularly wonderful. I could not manage on my own while changing the last tire. I think I will do it this way.
Good clear video however a question? how does a normal microwave heat rubber? I would recommend using a hair dryer to heat the tyre or a conventional oven also vaseline will stay on the rim and you run the risk of the rim slipping on the tyre under power, much better to use small amount of soapy water which will evaporate and leave no residue. Tyre levers cost less than a dollar? spoons? if people arent replacing tyres with solid tyres you run the risk of pinching the innertube using spoons, just get cheap plastic tyre levers if replacing the innertube. If you are replacing the tyres due to punctures its much better to use tyre slime in the tubes and stick with tubes otherwise ride quality will be compromised using tubeless tyres. Overall a good video though.
"how does a normal microwave heat rubber?" Well I can confirm it does. "I would recommend using a hair dryer to heat the tyre" Have you tried it? That will only heat the outside. The reason for using a microwave is to heat it from the centre. "you run the risk of the rim slipping on the tyre under power" No chance with how tight these are. "just get cheap plastic tyre levers if replacing the innertube" Nope, it's so tight even metal spoons bend. "its much better to use tyre slime in the tubes" Yeah I wish I'd thought of that before I tried to follow this video.
I think the purpose of this video is to show how to replace the tire once it has warn out. Even though the original tire in the video wasn't totally warn out yet. Also I think he just wanted solid tires cause they last longer.

do this! Boil the tire for 10 mins. Especially if its new! (Not the innertube) lube everything with some oil. For the hard part getting it on! I use zipties to hold the parts that are on on both sides! Like 4-6 zipties. And 2 spoons i get it on in 2 minutes this way! This total BS. Changing the original tubed tire with a solid one. Much more difficult than indicated in this pres. Beware and do your homework before purchase of any of these scooters. Become proactive when making your choices. Solid tire makes the ride much too hard IMO!!
Hi, After taking a (first !) longer ride with this electric scooter I managed to puncture the back tyre (inner tube) like 2 times. 😒😞 I patched the 2 holes successfully though. Getting the outer rubber coat (tyre) off the wheel was hard enough but putting everything back together was something else. 😥😠 I had to use quite an amount of vaseline to lubricate the right sections of the wheel & tyre. A blowdryer/hairdryer was needed too (to soften the tyre a bit). 😕🤕 Good thing I removed the brake disc before assembling the tyre, inner tube & wheel back together. Because you can fairly easily deform it. So that would be my advice too. 🙄 Best Regards,
And i thought changing wheel on a car was difficult. This is a madness, and why not use solid tires instead.... this is what made me choose the Segway e scooters instead

I'm trying to change the front wheel! And... FUCK! CHANGE A TIRE OF A TRUCK IS EASIER
youre my hero
Hi,
After taking a (first !) longer ride with this electric scooter I managed to puncture the back tyre (inner tube) like 2 times. 😒😞
I patched the 2 holes successfully though.
Getting the outer rubber coat (tyre) off the wheel was hard enough but putting everything back together was something else. 😥😠
I had to use quite an amount of vaseline to lubricate the right sections of the wheel & tyre. A blowdryer/hairdryer was needed too (to soften the tyre a bit). 😕🤕
Good thing I removed the brake disc before assembling the tyre, inner tube & wheel back together. Because you can fairly easily deform it. So that would be my advice too. 🙄
Best Regards,
Last chapter, vibrations destroy the scooter in 400 km, battery and close mechanism

Avez-vous remis une chambre à air ? Si oui de quel taille ?
And i thought changing wheel on a car was difficult. This is a madness, and why not use solid tires instead.... this is what made me choose the Segway e scooters instead
