  • Is The Audioscape Engineering Opto Compressor The Best LA2A Replica What's The Hype. Is Audioscape Engineering the best bespoke audio brand in America. In this video I share my thoughts on what I think about the Audioscape Engineering Optical compressor. The audio examples give you insight on the character the Opto Compressor imparts on the signal. I used a Warm Audio WA-87 microphone going into a Focusrite ISA One preamp. No makeup gain was used on the examples so that one can hear the "character" of the compression.

    From AUDIOSCAPE ENGINEERING:
    These are custom, hand built with care, one unit at a time. This is not a mass produced unit
    1/2 watt Carbon comp resistors are used like the original from the 60's. Cornell Dubilier, Panasonic and Nichicon Capacitors are used throughout. NOS vintage tubes in the audio path, Custom-Wound Cinemag transformers.
    We also utilize a custom made circuit board designed for lowest noise specs possible. We make our own T4B Opto-Attenuators using the highest grade photocells and replica EL Panels.

      Agreed. The test evaluations were well thought out and very informative. These types of videos are unfortunately rare. Very grateful. Bookmarked.

    Curious why you sold your Klark Teknic. Your review seemed rather favorable. What made you decide to purchase this one, rather than replace your KT-2A?

      Hi Alex and thanks for watching. I was relocating locations and rather than have all of this equipment in storage I sold a few pieces with the intent of purchasing again in the future. The KT2A is the best bang for the buck in terms of classic replications. I intend to buy another. Thanks again for watching

    I have the audio scape 2a. Question how are you getting such gain and gain reduction without using make up gain?

    • @WarrenHenry
      @WarrenHenry  Год назад

      Hi and thanks for watching. The make up gain has one purpose. It makes up what is lost in the signal due to the gain reduction circuit. Notice in the video, the more I engaged the peak reduction the lower the sound became overall.

    I just received my Opto Comp today. Is it normal to hear it hum? I’m thinking it might be normal, as the waves plugin has a hum option on it. I don’t mean the hum is in the signal path. It’s the unit, itself, coming out of the vents for the tubes on the top of the enclosure. Aside from the hum, it sounds a lot classier than my tube and BLA opto element upgraded KT-2A.

      Hi and thanks for your question. I would email their customer service for that information.

      @@WarrenHenryHe was asking you what was the wait time for you. I don't think customer service will tell him that specific information. 😅
