      Thanks Stan! I may have a gear accumulation problem :D I'm hoping (as always) to be more productive in the months to come, and not go so long in-between videos. Cheers, man!

      @@YHRS If you do, youll be one of the first to show Distressor vs the things its trying to sound like on youtube, I believe. Distressor manual has 1176 settings etc if im not mistaken.

    You seem like a great guy - I just feel like you couldda read the manual so you weren’t guessing at what these units do. Just my humble opinion. It took away from content for me. You know what you are doing well enough that you don’t have to guess. Not trying to be snarky. You have captured some nice tones - your demo was great - perhaps do the experimentation before you shoot the video, and you’ll know what you’re talking about!

    Glad to see you are back with another video! Man do I envy you, these units sound phenomenal! Great video as always, thank you for that. Also, I REALLY like the vocal sound you ended up with. The acoustic and drums are ok, a bit messy but I do understand that it was just a quick play for the sake of demonstration.
    I enjoy a lot mixing in mono and trying to replicate old sounds, specifically the Beatles. It is very challenging and makes you think out of the box.
    A couple of things I'd be interested in and would like to see, maybe for a follow-up video:
    1. It would have been nice to hear the source track before and after you pass them through the compressors
    2. It can be very interesting to confront these physical units with a plug-in version and see the differences in sound. I often use the UA plug-ins of these two compressors as my go-to channel strips.
    Thanks again for this, keep up the good job, waiting for the next video!

      Thanks Tal! Definitely good suggestions, I'm trying to figure out how to do a compressor shootout that isn't 6 hours long 😁 I'll have to break it up into a few different videos. At least that'll make up my mind of what to do for the next few videos. Cheers man, I hope all is well!

    Indeed, the slowest positions for attack and release on 1176 is on the ... right side. UAD plugs emulate these particularities as well.

    Cool video YHRS. I'm not going to chase down those items as my budget and ears are up to the challenge BUT I'm going to hook up the simple, old cheap outboard compressors I do have a try to work out a way to make use of them. I'll have to look at Kenny's channel for info on the Reaper in/out though. The mono mix if FAB.

    • @YHRS
      @YHRS  Год назад

      Thanks Ray, definitely hook up those old compressors and see how they do! I don't know why I'm so addicted to hardware compressors but I just love them. ReaInsert makes it pretty easy to treat outboard gear just like an insert plugin, I'm sure you'll be up and running in no time.

      @@YHRS I've done the 1st phase of gear revival. Thinking mostly about bass. I hooked up my ancient Alesis MicroLimiter. I haven't used it in ages as it's in a rack of outboard gear that has, usually, been a hassle to get to. I even dug out the manual and set it up per recommendations for bass. A little tweaking and I did some audio tests. It works as described on the box and is now set up so that I can use it easily. ONE DOWN.

      @@raycochrane3971 That's great news Ray! Having things easily accessible is the real trick isn't it? And I know it's easier said than done...I spent several hours on Sunday rearranging things in my rack and my sore muscles still haven't recovered from the effort. Now I'm curious what other toys you've got stashed away!

    Really hesitating between this one (76A) and the Black lion bluey version...don't know which to pick.
    It seems like AudioScape does an incredible job for a very reasonnable price from what i've seen + the fact they are a small team and handcraft these is very respectable ! However i'm not in the US so it's not very practical for the delivery and the guarantee. That aside, if someone here tested both i would like to know your impression
    ps: i just think a link port would have been a great addition

    do you still have your RME and you still love it ? Cause i wanna see a video about the RME how you set all uo in totalmix....etc.....can you do this maybe ?

    • @YHRS
      @YHRS  Год назад

      I'm still using and loving the UFX+, it's a really great interface. I don't do anything fancy with TotalMix, I just make sure that each hardware output is mapped to its respective software playback channel, which I think is the default way that it's set up when it's installed. Other than that, I mainly just use ReaInsert in Reaper to go out to a compressor and back on a track.

    Sir I watch a lot of your videos...your voice and you have great talent in art, plz tell me too Which audio interface and microphone is best for recording poetry? in which i get professional quality .I am complete beginner. will i be able to play the native audio interface ? Will I be able to do recording and mixing at home?
    Please Suggest me audio interface and microphone 🎤.
    My budget is $350.

    • @YHRS
      @YHRS  Год назад +1

      Off the top of my head, a $350 budget can afford some great gear. For spoken word, I've only used a few mics. My favorite is probably the Lewitt LCT440. I'd suggest taking a look at @podcastage where Bandrew specializes in spoken word microphones and reviews. As for audio interfaces, just about any of them that offer 24 bit recording should yield very good results. In the $100-150 range the Focusrite Scarlett Solo and 2i2 are hard to beat.
