After seeing the new game's story. The Orbs are still rather mysterious. Obviously, the Orbs are a double edge sword. Where they exactly came from is still rather unknown. However, the other world that has been explored seemed to be part of a clue of what happened when the Orbs were weilded too much. They were portal keepers in the other world, but the orbs are something else that still needs more explanation.
2:05 "Despite their unearthly quality, I felt a strange familiarity toward them, which haunts me still." I wish the game explained that line later on, it was very intriguing.

You also need to consider that Agrippas lines are from present, everything else is before Daniel drank the Amnesia potion. And that is the story my Video is telling. Agrippa didn't fit in there. I'm glad you like my video, I thought it was a good thing for following the story easier :-)
I don't understand the central point of this game. Why force himself to forget if his only goal is to murder Alexander? Why couldn't he do that just... as he was?
Rainbow Dash The things Daniel did nearly drove him mad. He was so psychologically scarred that the only way he could continue living was to forget everything.
Daniel was persuaded to inflict unspeakable torture upon people because Alexander told him it would spare him from the Shadow, which eventually broke his sanity.

orbs had nothing to do with devastation, it was because of sabotage.

Thanks for this! I find some the subtle details of the story get lost when you're trying to follow it in game with your anxiety levels way up.

Because he couldn't bear with himself anymore after what he had done.
Yeah, he was in not in the condition to exact his revenge. He used amnesia as a way of carrying out his plan within a stronger version of himself.
