    To those who questions Daniel's escape when the elevator is destroyed, by the time he enters the orb chamber, the shadow have already consumed or destroyed most part of the brennenburg castle. Maybe there is an alternative route after shadow's destruction?

    Amnesia lore fan here
    Ok so the reason why Daniel's diary entries are scattered is due to Alexander's servants scattering them, oh the fact Daniel witnesses other people's memories is because he is still connected to the orb in a way and the same is for Alexander, therefore they technically share the memories

    Mainly the low and ominous Ambient Tracks and eerie, unsettling Sci-Fi Soundscapes. Same for other later SCP Games that asked Me to do Music for Them.

    11:00 having played through amnesia after so many years of watching lets plays (of course beginning with pewdiepie) I can describe the first moments of realizing the safety and beauty of this quiet place as breathtaking. I was so proud of myself that I earned the view. That’s what makes this level so iconic in my eyes, it’s the fact that you earned it. You have to trudge through hell to get to that point and proportionally the beginning of the game was the scariest for first timers

It is now 2021, and the game is still alive, with tons of devs and modders creating incredible Custom Stories and Full Conversions that any horror enthusiast would enjoy. This game has withstood the test of time in so many ways. Definitely my favorite horror game to date, and its 11 years old.

      @mike731188 6 лет назад +15

      That would be an interesting topic. I feel like the inability to fight back (effectively or at all) is almost a requirement for horror - in Penumbra, I stopped being afraid after I found out how easily you could just smack the head of the enemies, and the game became boring because of it.

    • @inkthetuna5142

    If one considers the theory that the shadow is not really after Daniel and nudges him in the right direction to get to the orb, giving him the right information be that his own lost memories or memories of other people that complete the picture, then the coincidences in the game make sense.

  • @littlemoth4956
    @littlemoth4956 5 лет назад +19

    7:46 Nope, that's the Old Archives.
    14:10 Actually, all of those questions have answers.
    1. The shadow brings these journals to Daniel to torment him.
    2. The area you start in is one of the safest in the game. He needed to go somewhere safe because he would be vulnerable.
    3. Again, the shadow shows Daniel these things to torment him for what he's done. He is shown the memories of those he killed and tortured so that he can pay for doing so.
    Also, at 14:44, this issue can have multiple explanations. Aside from the fact Alexander wouldn’t use this door often because the prisoners would have to be dragged through the sewers to get to the torture chambers, the door is likely blocked by the shadow. It is probably doing this so that Daniel could go through the same places as his victims did, as well as put him in a position where Agrippa’s orb shard would be in his way.
    Another explanation could be simply due to the castle’s terrible condition, as many of Amnesia’s doors suffer from the “it won’t budge” syndrome, often because of rubble blocking the way.
    But the explanation that makes the most sense is that Alexander simply locked it to buy himself more time. It’s not convenient if he is actively trying to hinder your progress.

      Little Moth no the grunts took his journal and diaries that’s why the guest room is trashed and the shadow was just trying to push Daniel along to kill Alexander you get damaged but it never takes your health down

    • @littlemoth4956
      @littlemoth4956 4 года назад +3

      @@scibrew2922 Except why would the grunts take Daniel's journal? They have no reason to trash the guest room, and if they did take his journal, why would they be left in open areas where Daniel could easily come across them again?
      Though it is true that the shadow is trying to push Daniel along, it is trying to show him the horrible things he's done.

    • @xMorogothx
      @xMorogothx 4 года назад

      The shadow is not trying to ”show daniel what he has done” what even makes you think that’s the cas? The shadow is an otherwordly entity that is the protector of the orbs. Its not interested in guilt tripping daniel lol

    • @RamenLlama
      @RamenLlama 4 года назад +4

      @@xMorogothx it is very interested in guilt tripping Daniel lol. Throughout multiple points of the game you see it actively block Daniel's path, chase him but not outright kill him, it even brings him back to life and taunts him by locking him in a small room and growing all around him, before unlocking the door and letting Daniel proceed (Nave). The Shadow is 100% sentient, or at least WAS in this game. All of OP's criticisms of this game are a bit pointless and ignorant imo bc a lot of the questions and negatives he had have been addressed and answered, not only throughout the game but by dev interviews and in forums.

    • @littlemoth4956

Otherwise, don't scold me on lore please.

    Gotta be honest here Amnesia:The Dark Descent is way more scary compared to the new Rebirth.The atmosphere in the Breneneburg castle is always pressuring.If it's not dark everywhere then it's the ambient or fear of the monsters around the corners,the ambience makes the fear of monsters even stronger,various sounds like piano in old archives.The silent Daniel makes it even more scary.Amnesia rebirth gives more space for puzzles and story then actually trying to scare the player. It also is not so dark altough i can live with that because it's obliviously the Algerian desert and it would be very strange if it had minimum amount of light just like in the Brenenburg castle.The only moment in the game i was actually scared of was the old expedition ruins where we start to notice some connection with the old game.

      Amnesia Rebirth wasn’t as scary as TDD by design imo. Frictional has said they don’t believe they could surpass it. It is much more like Soma. Though it generally has more flaws. Overall its pretty good. By Frictional standards. I would say its their weakest direct game. Yet they certainly haven’t Season 8’d themselves.

    I’m very late to this😂 I personally did not enjoy this game though, unfortunately. I really wanted to, but it felt like a puzzle game with the occasional hide and seek sequence. Like you said, they de-spawn. I free roamed all areas because I never ran into monsters. It felt very atmospheric with the lighting, scenery and music, but also felt very disappointing with the little to no threats. I never found myself feeling scared, just confused trying to figure out how to progress😂 but I personally cannot call this a horror, it’s just a gothic-style puzzle game to me
