Had a 2005 IS300. Got it brand new until about 2017 when someone hit me at a traffic light. Totally miss that thing, it was super reliable and had no major issues with it. The only thing I don’t miss was filling it up with premium gas. It was pretty thirsty.

Dang that’s too bad, sounds like it had a good run though.

I had a 2005 and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately it had a PCV issue that threw a CEL, that means no traction control on these. One morning i hit standing water on the highway and was thrown into a spin. She was totaled unfortunately.😢

Sucks to hear about it being totalled. I never understood why they disable traction control with any cel 🤦🏽‍♂️

Its a software Toyota puts on connected with cel disables traction, abs esp. Cel on lexus/Toyota turns vsa, esc lights on software linked together

I have a factory manual 02 GE-T with a r154 swap. Love it and hate it at the same time.

      Why hate?

    • @StrongmanTaylor

@hass316 something is always breaking, something is always acting up. Perfect example of what of what I am dealing with now. The standalone ECU in my car is 15 years old. I finally got it all sorted, re-tuned the car for e54 and 28 psi. Had an appointment for the dyno the next day. Went out for a final shake down....ECU died. Since the ECU is so old, it is better to replace it with a newer version than hoping Haltech can fix the old one. That means re pinning connectors, changing MAP sensors, retranslating the tune, rebuilding the tune from the ground up...ect. However when she runs and almost puts down 700 to the tire, it is worth it. Lol.

Depends on what gear ratios you have. I get horrible mpg on the highway because my RPMs are above 3k but has snappy acceleration,

Auto's had a slightly taller final drive but tbh doesn't change the fuel economy too much

Only if you are looking for mad tight street drift cred. Or foor door supra street cred. As a sedan it is smol. As a daily driver its a thirsty engine. As a rwd t00 j4y z33 y0 driftz platformz yes. The only reason i still keep my original 2003 supra y0 swapped is because ppl will offer peanuts for it then turn around and be like OMG LOOK AT THE STEAL I GOT. Mine hasnt run in close to ayear now and it just sits there looking pretty.

Be careful with these cars, people buy them, own them for a year, beat the shit out of it, sell it for double what they bought it for. Mine left me stranded on the side of the road twice in the first month of owning it, just be carful
