4:39 The wind noise coming through the door is the result of many years of door slamming. To fix it you just need to put something rubber between the window frame (middle of it) and then give the furthest side a push inwards. Kind of like you are trying to bend the window frame inward into the car. Then it goes away.

As a Swede and a car guy who has probably owned close to 100 Volvos, I can tell you that the 8-series was despised by the majority of Volvo enthusiasts in Sweden when it was first introduced. Can you guess why? Yes, the front-wheel drive 🤮NOT Ok on a Volvo! ;) even the small 300 series had FR.. sure we had the 4-series with FF but that did not really count as a Volvo anyways.. (Though the 480 turbo is pretty cool) I've driven a couple of 850Rs but never owned one due to the FF and instead stuck to the 240s and 740 turbo wagons ;) Volvo guys are often drifters cus of the snow. So you can imagine how many of those 850Rs were rear drive converted. But it looks and handles very good for a stock Volvo.

Awesome, you had an 850 T5?
    I love them.
A buddy of mine had a yellow one. They are super rare in america, especially in that yellow.

2 or 3k away from 500bph may be true but also budget for a gearbox upgrade as the j160 is pretty weak when you throw boost at them, 300bhp is about all they can handle, Lovely box to use though i had one in my old Is200, miss that car so much!

The best thing to do with these, and the GS300/Aristo, is to do a twin turbo supra engine rebuild mated to a BMW ZF auto. It's a straight swap with adapter plate and gives you a reliable 500-700bhp!

Fun to have different cars. This car was never very successful because of the looks probably and no manual option on wagons, but it is a nice but weird alternative to a 3 series! Keep 'em coming!

Also only available in 2 engine variants and no diesel variant which was booming at the time. Lexus made that diesel variant mistake in the next generation.

Do more of these unique daily drivers, uber expensive track specials at warp speed get boring after youve watched a few. Get that 850R, in yellow, as a project dairy it will be awesome, ignore the missos constant complaining about its boxyness. Those 850Rs are crazy cool. Love to see that unique Lexus back with boost for a before and after?
