He hit the complete opposite side of his skate and pushed forward knowing exactly what he was doing. This is most certainly on purpose.
All Penguins fans just got flashbacks from last season
I've been looking for this comment
This game is still in overtime.
Should have been 4 minutes. A double minor.
If he was hurt maybe but he's fine and can defend himself if he wants to or his goalie can go after him that's hockey and how you settle it.
Shades of Billy Smith
Lol, I said the same thing and some entitled little bitch said “FU” to me !!!! It’s hockey , not shuffleboard !!!
Sorokin went full Billy Smith. Go Iles!
Not even close to being accidental, they're pros... they know what they're doing.
as a goalie i can say this probably was on accident, goalie sticks are really light these days and when trying to swing a stick by the end they trail behind because they catch wind since they have a massive paddle also if you actually look he had eye contact with the puck the whole time, to out right claim its on purpose is dumb especially if you have never tried to swing a goalie stick before
They should have the goalie sit in the box when they make the penalty. Team should have to go without a goalie for the PP.
I agree. The goalies are heavily protected in hockey already. You have to something super blatant to get a penalty, so why not toss them in the box if they commit one.
Detroit fan here.
I think, after watching the slow mo, second angle, and as someone who played goalie, what happened was he hesitated.
He debated playing the puck, and opted not to, THEN, saw how the puck was rolling/on its end, and tried, albeit too late, and the rest was just a byproduct of that.
I could be wrong, just my thoughts. The first times I seen the play, I thought it was dirty, but that slowmo angle from behind the net, it kind of made sense.
Islanders playing dirty? Color me shocked there...
Coming from a rangers fan who's team couldn't even settle a score for their own player stfu.
@@jopochapo literally has nothing to do with my comment but you do you buddy
@@Viper631 if you don't see what it has to do with your comment, you continue living in a bubble buddy. Regardless of your recent failures, let's go through the rangers with a microscope and see if they play like choir boys.
Lol... go look up clips of Crosby cross checking opponent's heads into the ice. Moron
@@cowetascore8476 you... do know I'm not a Pens fan right?
"ALLEGEDLY." - Squirrely Dan
I mean it could just be a brain fart. Could be that he hesitated too long yet still made the decision to go for it and it was way too late. We all have our 0 iq moments
That's exactly what happened. He was slow to make a stick check. That's all.
Come on he flat out that could of been end of of it for months 100% no accident lucky to get up not injured
This was so dirty he new exactly what he was doing
new?
This happens to Guentzel every year at the start of playoffs
That was fast...
Yeah wtf are they talking about? I don't care about Pens or Islanders but that was intensional...
If I was a Penguin on the ice, I might have accidentally slashed the goaliie in the legs after he turned around.
Ok tough guy lol
@@Artburg what do you mean “ok tough guy”? Don’t make me laugh, or cringe. You fucking dweeb. Sorokin would get a face full of my shaft if I was a penguin
Cringe
- then you'd get the shit kicked out of you by almost any Islander🤣 There's a reason why you don't play that tough guy shit with us 💯 Ask Wilson about that 🤣🤣🤣
Is that Eddie Olczyk with the BS "accidental"? The puck was 4 feet behind Sorokin and Sorokin decided to hit Guentzel right in the skate. Dangerous play too given the boards were right there and Guentzel's speed.
This makes me lose even more respect for Eddie; his love of horse abuse and rampant cheating in said "racing" is the other.
Guentzel was behind the net, that was on purpose
Holy shit, this was meant to be a poke check
As an Islanders fan all I have to say is wow. That could have been really bad, hope Guentzel is ok.
He was out immediately for the power play.
he got two minutes great playoff hockey
And that is how you get run in game 2 or 3 when the score is out of hand for either team lol.
As a goalie that use to play a high level....this was actually a relatively smart play. Dangerous? Yes. Very. But your first thought isn’t, “is someone gonna get hurt?”...rather, that first thought is, “fuck if this guy is gonna pick up that puck. Ain’t happenin.”
I am an Islanders fan and it's hard to see it as accidental. I know he is a rookie goalie, but he needs to be more careful.
That wasn't remotely accidental, and I feared of a repeat of Jake's injury.
Because we have had 2 fines in the last week because of dangerous tripping, then this also should be an fine? Because this is not at all accidental and it so dangerous!!
Ok
