His ability to improvise in the moment is mind blowing. Dodges a goalies poke by pulling the puck back, bouncing it off his skate back to the stick to score. It's like everyone else is in slow motion for him.

This guy's play style will forever be viewed in awe. The way the play begins almost always seems to have zero sense of a goal being evident until mere seconds into the play does that immediately change. These types of situations almost never yield points and he is just breaking that reality with the gift that he has.

This is a month later from posting this video and McDavid is absolutely blowing EVERYONE away! McD has scored 2 goals against the NHL’s top team last night, the Bruins, and tonight 2 goals vs the Leafs, another top team. McD now has 5…YES 5…2 goal games in a row which is 10 goals and 16 points in his last 5 games! This season so far he has 52 goals 118 points in 62 games! WITH 20 GAMES LEFT TO PLAY! What are the idiots going to do this season to screw McD out of the Hart trophy like they did last season! McDavid is a country mile ahead of the next best from the NHL talent pool and ABSOLUTELY THE MOST VALUABLE TO HIS TEAM BAR “NONE!” JUST AS HE WAS LAST SEASON!

Wayne was no slouch of a skater, up there with almost anyone in the league at his prime. If you forget this fact, then simply click on one of his 80's highlights videos- especially the '87 Canada Cup. You're be surprised! In his day he could fly with almost anyone!

A common theme McDavid gets the puck up and all goalies do is go down on their knees and guess. It just baffles me how one dimensional all the goalies in the NHL are they are going down automatically before the shots are even taken.
Gretzky was a deceptively good skater he just didn't try and fly down the ice he used smarts.Conor however is an elite skater imo the best skater the NHL has ever seen maybe a mild argument for Mike Gartner but Conor's reach smarts and speed and ability to maneuver is insane.
Often people bring up Bobby Orr that is my era and I can tel you even to this day i take Larry Robinson over Orr anytime everytime because Larry was a much more rounded player tough could go end to end but played great defense. There is a video out there where MTL makes an amazing comeback on the bruins i think it was like 5 goals down and Bobby Or was on for 5 of the 7 and was the reason 3 of the goals were scored.
What Bobby Orr was good at was rushing the puck and outskating a LOT of weak players because the NHL had a lot of weak spots back in those days so it made it easy. The fact Conor can skate around and through players in this modern era is far superior to anything Orr could do back 45-50 years ago.I also want to make another point it is MUCH easier to rush from the defense position because you can see the entire ice geesh Larry Robinson did the same thing as Orr he could rush it end to end through the entire team he just chose to not do it often because he was a more solid defensemen.
