Nothing is as terrifying as seeing a baby change color from choking! When I was 9 I witnessed my baby cousin choking when we were at a restaurant. My uncle helped him and he was fine, but I'll never forget the fear in his eyes until he took that breath.

My mom rescued my brother after swallowing 6 marbles. She did CPR on him and they all came bursting out. She was NOT happy when SIL decided that the same lady needs to have a mouth to mouth cup thing to help with CPR even though the newest thing is to just do chest compressions. The mouth to mouth thing is obsolete from what I have heard. So she literally bought the most pointless item ever and expects her to use that instead of CPR. She felt HIGHLY insulted as did I when I babysat. I told her point blank that I'm not going to try to figure out how to use that stupid fing thing when a baby needs CPR. F NO! I keep telling her that I'm not using it and that I don't know why she insists on bringing it whenever I babysit. I had to learn CPR when I worked at daycare and I keep up on the latest way of doing it. Sorry, this is just me trying to pop off about that stupid device because it really irks me! lol

30 yrs ago, (dang I feel old), I was in high school, went to a pet store with the name "pets" in it. I parked next to a 12 foot u haul. As I am getting out I hear a baby crying and a kid saying shut up, shut up, be quiet. I look in the front cab and there is a baby seat between the two front seats. I went inside the pet store and got the manager. She came outside, heard what I heard and called police. Ended up being a 5 and 3 year old in the cargo area, and an 8 month old in the front cab. The parents were inside the mart for pets getting their two dogs groomed. I was 16 and I knew better. Some people, wtf.

My friend came by to drop off paperwork and stayed talking to my best friend and I for about a half hour. I asked where her 6 week old was and she said in the car. It was August in California. My bff and I ran to the car - doors shut and windows up- and took her out immediately. We reprimanded our friend and warned her about doing this. The baby was sweating, had vomit around her mouth and was lethargic. She was totally swaddled and had blankets on her and over the car seat. Our ex-friend was angry we called 911. The officers and firemen were wonderful.

I don't believe police should be defunded, but throughout history, police have been used to terrorize people of color communities. I do believe the people that hire officers need to stop hiring men who are emotionally and mentally unstable, officers that break the law need to be charged and used as an example instead of being put on paid leave that we have to fund. Only a fool believes that if one is good, all are good.

Take a course of child cpr/first aid and you will be able to do it yourself. You can save your child or some child in need when you're around.

Absolutely agree. And, as soon as your children are old enough they should be taught what to do also. Sometimes kids are in a group with no adults (or no adults that know what to do) and can save each other. My own son saved me from choking to death like 6 months ago. I was choking and trying to do the Heimlich on myself and it wasn’t working. My teenage son saw what was happening and did it to me and got it out. I feel like basic first aid and lifesaving measures should be part of normal education in schools instead of special certifications only needed for certain jobs. I only knew it from being a nurse. I taught my kids when they were young even though they haven’t been properly certified. They all know a lot of first aid and CPR. I had no idea it would end up saving my own life. Life can be so ironic like that. I taught my kids so they could save themselves or others and it ended up saving me.

Before I could even say anything, our son- who was 16 at the time- jumped up and did the Heimlich maneuver. He learned it in Health class in school. They don't tell you how fast someone goes from fine to blue. He was laughing and talking and a split second later, silence.
Everyone should learn the Heimlich. You may never need to do it, but if you do, at least you'll be ready.

You should also look at getting a LifeVac device - those are literal lifesavers when someone is choking!

Omg I went from happy to absolute sadness and anger. Those poor little kids who were unfortunate enough to get a devil for a mother! Imagine being those 2 kids who’ll live the rest of their lives knowing their devil mom tried to kill them! I pray they receive therapy and the devil gets life!

The scariest ones is when parents run to the officers and the babies just aren’t responding. That has got to be my biggest fear with my own kids. The baby was so limp.

It’s so important to take infant/child first aid as a parent. I saved my own kids and a niece from choking using the baby Heimlich maneuver. I was calm and collected because I knew what to do, my sister-in-law was FREAKING OUT as her baby was choking but I flipped her over and did the Heimlich and she was just fine! You should also have a LifeVac suction device in your car and in your home - they can save children and adults from choking!

*I started crying when those Officers were screaming for MJ with the house on fire 😢 They weren’t going to give up and thankfully the firefighters showed up in time! 🙏 That poor baby who was st@bbed twice, I remember seeing that before and the mother who did it, also hurt her little boy and she had a third kid, a 15 year old girl. The 15 year old girl got the little boy out and then called 911. The mother was chasing him with a knife!* 🤬🤬

I am not a fan of police, but these officers did a great job.
The guy who died in the crash, the passenger was lucky to get out alive.
Little M.J., must have been so scared with the fire, I'm glad the officers and fireman were able to get him out.
The monster of a mom who cut her 4 year old, then stabbed her little girl and tried to drown her, thank cripes the cops got there in time, she probably would have drowned her son as well after she was done with her daughter.

I wish all parents had to take emergency CPR for infants and children upon becoming parents!! I know accidents can happen, but I got certified in infant CPR when my sister became pregnant with my nephew. I wanted to be able to do everything in my power to save the ones I love if needed.

How is there a miscommunication between care providers of the young baby? Someone had to drive, park, get out and walk away. Knowingly leaving that child all alone… Even if someone was to return or come within minutes to get the baby, it’s still wrong on so many levels. The child was alone in there long enough for the car to heat up, resulting in them puking. So bewildered how it could be because of a misunderstanding or miscommunication between the adult(s) with the child. Did I miss something said or am I crazy to be mad?

That third case, is why it’s very important to burp and bounce your babies! Good strong pats on the back and a nice steady bounce can dislodge lots of small blockages with babies after eating even just having milk! I’ve heard of babies dying after only drinking milk and no burping or anything. So sad
