7 & 9 Symbolism in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

- Throughout Dragon Age lore, the numbers 7 and 9 have appeared multiple times. Coincidentally, these numbers are associated with Rook from Dragon Age: The Veilguard and Solas, respectively. The 7 is the Chariot, the 9 is The Hermit. These numbers bear importance to Elven lore, Tevinter history, and appear in the Chant of Light of Andrastean Thedosians as well. How they reflect to what we know of the story so far is quite accurate.

7 companions this time around as well!
9 in inquisition :)
@@ThatFont Ooh, how very astute. DA2 7 had base companions I think too, then + Sebastian. I am counting both siblings as 1. 😅 Someone at BioWare likes the number 7.
wow, this is actually so amazing - really appreciate your insights 😍 imagine the game comes out of the 7th of september
Oh, that would be epic. If they announce that day, I'm gonna be so hyper about it. 🤣
Hey! So happy you got a mention from Caitie this morning!! Congrats!! Pretty sure she was my introduction to DATube!
@@AlliCassandra Yes, that was very kind of her. 😊
That's awesome. My intro to DAtube was BioFan who kinda disappeared, though his channel is still up.
@@DarthShadie ahhh I forgot about BioFan! 😅 I followed him first now that I think about it. Took a break from DA Tube and then found… Caitie and everyone else.
I saw that. She got mentioned in Jackdaw's chat too.
If this was a few days ago, then I did pop in for a bit and then had to go. Jack did read a few of my comments and said hi.
Yes it can change him in either way by the decisions and choices made throughout the game
9 is the number of cyclic phenomena. It's the last, but summed with any number, doesn't change it's numerological value, meaning both End and Return. Taking Solas as the one who ended the Evanuris Age and will probably end the mortal age, it's truly appropriate.
I'm also noticing some number 4 symbolism.
Primal, Creation, Spirit, and Entropy are the FOUR schools of acceptable magic in Origins.
You have FOUR allied forces to battle the Blight.
Dragon Age 2 has FOUR chapters, counting the prologue.
Bethany, Carver, Isabela, and either Anders or Sebastian make FOUR companions you will lose access to in DA2.
There are FOUR potential Divine Victorias as Softened and Hardened Leliana are practically two different people.
And DAV is the 4th game. How very astute. Love it!
7 and 9 also have a strong meaning in the spiritual sense same as 4 (I think Lavellan was 4 of something in the minor arcane tarot cards).
Four of Coins for female Lavellan, yeah.
@@DarthShadie 4, 7, and 9 going to be an interesting story.
Me trying to reach the word count on my essay
It mentions 7 shattered gates of the black city, definitely seems that these "gates" are eluvians.
Eluvians as the gates would very much make sense. Especially if they shattered.
16 is also the number of the Tower card
And in traditional decks, the Chariot is taking down the Tower. 😁
I have been looking for the name of this song since I first heard it :)) Hopefully it will be available when the soundtrack is released, because I absolutely love it :))
I put a link to it in the description of the video to where I got it from. It's such a lovely track. I am certain it will be on the soundtrack as it is the main theme for the game from what I hear.
@@DarthShadie I appreciate you pointing it out to me … I’m stuck in the 90s sometimes and forget to look… but thank you SO much for linking it!
@@geoffreycannon2197 I got you. 😁 YT hides so much of the description nowadays and you gotta click in so many places. Internet might have been slow back in the 90s but damn was it simpler too.
@@DarthShadie simple can be nice. I was born in 80, and my first “computer” was an Atari 2600 :)) it’s a lot to keep track of for those who are trained for it, and I do what I can just to keep my head above water :))
Nice. Born '82 here. We had Windows 3.1 for the longest time. 😅 I had to go to an Internet Café to use Internet because my mom refused to get it at home.
Well, this was cool.
Thanks. 😁
Also, in numerology and astrology 7 is associated with Saturn and 9 with Neptune. Number nine is associated with the higher power - divinity, gods, etc. Also, mystery and secrets. I used to dabble in astrology when I was younger, not so much these days.
P.S. Alright, I want this game for my birthday - September 27.
@@lyannastark3839 Oooh, nice. 😁
Oh, wow, nice birthday number. Time to manifest.
@@DarthShadie I am working on it. Going to try to manifest it tonight - I wonder whether dancing around the tree will do the trick.
😁
There are only 3 Forgotten Ones. But if you add the 4 Forbidden Ones, you get 7. But Solas didn't seal the Forbidden Ones. Other than that, I think the video is accurate. But I had a question about Rook. Was there an official statement about Rook being the Chariot card, or was this your deduction from the Rook Title video about the chess rook being represented by a chariot?
Three KNOWN Forgotten Ones, but there are supposed to be 7 for the dark mirrors of the others. Four if you count Solas. I forget where I saw the 7 associated with them, but I remember it, unless I am experiencing a Mandela effect. 😅
@@DarthShadie Ah, they're so forgotten that even BioWare forgot to mention them. I can get on board with that.
😂 That's exactly it!
my favorite numbers =)
@@the-dark-side. Nice. Mine is 5, though I am a fan of odd numbers. 😁
