Turn off, unscrew air chamber cover and remove plug and dint lose in tool, air will escape a bit when connect regulator adapter. Follow rest instructions above. If fill and when install plug back in after regulator adapter off and all air leaks out, fill again and if happens again, replace all o-rings and even might need doing if air don’t leak as they can dry out and crack. Unlike pneumatics where can oil them when using, battery nailers don’t need oil so all o-rings and gaskets go years w/ no maintenance (which ok for few years and then I would send into get a good cleaning maintenance checkup done maybe every 3-5 yrs or so depending on use for other battery guns, imo.).

Really good video, i was recommended your chanel by a guy of facebook , i was looking to see who repairs hikoki under warranty in ireland, not much good having a warranty if there's no one to repair them,
I absolutely love your videos mate. I would love to see you do a troubleshooting video. For each type of machine. Like what to look for when certain things aren't working right. E.g. Nail gun not firing. Look for this this and this. But anyway thank you for another great video I appreciate it 👍🙂
The difference between the Metabo and Hikoki is that the Matabo is made using the imperial measurement system for size and air pressure and the Hikoki is all metric. It takes someone with a lot of skill to add the name on the different tools and they come off the same production line. From what I've heard those guy's can tell which is which just by picking the tool up, even with their eyes closed!!! 😋😂
Those valve cores are in all cycle puncture repair kits and can also be bought at any car spares shop. I certainly wouldn't be ordering them from the tool manufacturer at 1Ox the counter price.
Hey Dean, if you were going to buy a 16 gauge and 18 gauge cordless nailer, what would you get? I’m sick of setting up a compressor and running airlines just to do smaller jobs. I’m in the USA but can probably track anything down.
On the last I was screaming at the screen it's out if air....just regas it and check for the leak but even my bet was either the piston seals or more likely valve. Surely a leak check first would have been the priority?
Great knowledge love your fault finding technique I was wondering about buying a nail gun but have no idea which one I’m retired now so it’s not going to be used on a daily basis so any suggestions would be appreciated because you certainly know your stuff not fussed if it’s electric cordless gas just what you would recommend I like the way your honest with people and know what your talking about very impressive look forward to your thoughts on my dilemma
I'm assuming oiling the slide for the magazine is a bad idea due to being around wood and probably dust. That's the first "fix" that popped into my head after you cleaned it up. I work on heavy machinery, so oil/grease is always on my mind at work. 😂
Dean where can I get that pressure regulator please? My gun doesn’t sink the nails all the way in every time - sometimes it does, sometimes doesn’t. So I want to top her up
Sorry Mate, I think your mostly right with your opinion about the service kit. But the seals for the piston should definitly be includet. Part # 11-14 are includet, If I read the drawing right. Cheers
The regassing be done with something like a 300bar hand pump the same as they use for air rifles. I have two of those pumps from Amazon at £36 each and they work well..IF you have the strength to get it to 300 bar. The max pressure is only about 120psi/8.27bar so even a cycle trackside foot pump can manage that. I suppose the tool uses its own proprietary fitting though just to make life awkward.
@@deandohertygreaser the valve itself is a normal Schrader valve but it's too deep set to get the normal fitting on it. The screw thread is actually part of the outer casing which means you have to buy their specific adapter. I don't know if a tyre valve extension would even work which I doubt as they haven't left any male thread to attach to but if it did then it's a doddle to regas yourself. I reckon I could knock up an adapter for myself even in a mini lathe but HPA isn't something to mess with if you don't know what you are doing. Fortunately I do as I have trained and worked with high pressure apparatus all my working life.
So the story I heard was that when Hitachi sold off Koki power tools(Koki holdings), and Koki changed their power tool line name to Hikoki, Lowe's had a big problem with this and didn't want to sell the tools under that name. Lowe's is Hikoki's only national distributor in North America, and somehow they came up with a compromise of "Metabo hpt." Lowe's used to sell German Metabo power tools in their stores, and still do on their website, so maybe they figured their customers would be more familiar with that name.
People who buy tools from Lowes don’t know what Metabo is. Which is a problem when they’re googling the internet for batteries and/or cordless tools. They’re also doing every manufacturer on CAS a major disservice. “Yeah you just go buy some Metabo batteries and you can run our tool with it.” Cut to: customer buys Metabo “HPT” batteries. It’s fucking joke.
They shouldn't even changed the name in the first place. I didn't even know hitachi and hikoki/metano hpt used the same batteries until a few months ago
Fucking Lowe's is such a joke. They have a serious lack of professional power tools and they still try their hardest to push out the ones they do have. Hikoki would be a great Makita replacement for Lowe's but between the stupid name change and the shitty state of Lowe's displays across North America it's hardly picking up any steam. The only companies that put up with Lowe's shit anymore is Stanley black and decker and Flex since chevron has infinite money to waste on Lowe's bullshit.
@@bladeoflucatiel They couldn't keep the Hitachi name, because Hitachi(large media conglomerate) sold Koki(power tool manufacturer). Using "Hikoki" was a great idea, imo, because in most places, the box you got the tool in always said "Hitachi-Koki" on it.
@@robertrada4783 I don't know if the story is true, but that may have been Lowe's perspective. A lot of Lowe's have been dropping Metabo HPT from shelves lately anyway, just like they dropped Metabo years ago, so screw them

After the fuse is replaced, I realised the piston pin was stuck halfway and regardless I reset it, the gun just flashed two yellow lights, and pin still in halfway. Shall I purge the gas to pull the pin out and regas or if there is any other way to reset the piston? Many thanks and appreciate your knowledgable vidoes~

Hi, hope this helps. Looks like the Bosch is the GSR12V-300FCB22 12V Max EC Brushless Flexiclick 5-In-1 Drill/Driver System (also have 1st Gen the 140fcb22 model….). I actually prefer the 300fcb22 over my Milwaukee m12 installation drill driver b/c the footprint of the Bosch is smaller. The Milwaukee uses the D-handle grip and so I switched over to the Bosch 12v flexiclick to give a go and like it. DeWalt has similar drill driver and tried it, and I prefer this ranking for this type of drill driver: Bosch 12v flexiclick chameleon; Milwaukee m12 installation driver, Festool version, and DeWalt last only b/c grip on small side and feels weird and it feels like lacks power compared to others. Milwaukee’s is even more powerful than Bosch’s but the footprint of Bosch is better imo. So, Festool and Milwaukee use same type grip, and Bosch and DeWalt have same grip. So if in particular ecosystem try checking out that brands driver, but the Bosch is the smallest of all if need that
Sorry, he’s using the 18v version of flexiclick chameleon not 12v max, oops. I’ve also tested and in end, went w/ 12v max as footprint smaller and when doing hvacr work and cabinets etc….12v far better for access and not missing out on “that much extra power” 18v model has over 12v. Also, Milwaukee only brand that doesn’t have 18v version and Festool only brand that has option of 12v or 18v in d-handle grip or barrel style grip, where Milwaukee only d-handle grip in 12v tool; sorry about this too much info, do hope helps, and as you can probably tell/see, I’ve tested/reviewed a lot before settling in the Bosch 12v as my edc and when in production I’ve got all out so not having to change heads or bits, just grab the drill driver need for job doing.✌🏻
Why didn't you just add air to the last one first to see if that was the issue? When you fired it you can hear it had no air in it? Feel like you could have saved yourself a lot of time with that one by filling it with air first.
I’m glad your subs are going up, you really deserve every single one of them! Entertaining and educational content! If your reading this comment give this boy a sub and a like 👍🏻
Hi Dean, just found and subscribed to your chanel, i love your knowledge of powertools and the way you explain what you are doing and what the problem is, i am in the process of buying a framing nailer, between the Hikoki NR18obc or milwaukee M18FFN quite a bit heavier than the gas ones i know, what would you go for if it was your hard earned cash??? Cheers Kevin
I really do like your channel. I wonder if you could find the time to answer a question i have regarding a electric pressure washer. I can use it, but as soon as relieve the trigger the motor keeps turning on and off every few seconds. It doesn't stay turned off as it use to. I suspect some sort of leakage, so it cant keep the pressure up. Have any idea? Its a Nilfisk ALTO c120.2 (swedeish market, dont know if you have it in Ireland) Best regards, Gunnar from Sweden.
I love the channel, just was scratching my head on the last repair. You do know that valve is just a tire valve right??? You don't need knipex needle nose for that. Every shop everywhere has a tool which is under $5. And the part is under a $1. Keep up the good work, sorry no disrespect, that just had me saying. Why.
Just needs a regas then they just keep shittin and shittin and shittin. Allll day long maybe shit a thousand nails. Haha I watch your videos all the time because your so smart and a great teacher but my American brain just cannot unhear you saying shit a billion times. Please don't change
It seems that special Hykoki\MetaboHPT air line tool has a regulator on it to put the proper pressure in it. I don't know the exact PSI, off hand tho. That's why they want you to buy their specialty tool! 🤔🤷🏻♂️👍🏻👌🏻👨🏻🔧😀🍻
Hitachi bought Metabo then sell Koki division to Chinese without rights to Hitachi name.So they decided to rename tools Hikoki (Hitachi +Koki) and for America Metabo HPT (Hitachi power tools-HPT).

@@richardmccann4815 I only love it because I've been abusing it for 7 years, on 4th base pad. Corded unit, but has outperformed/outlasted similar Makita and AEG models. Will take your advise though!
I think the branding thing is to do with the perception that the USA doesn't like things Japanese. I remember when Japanese Diesel Kiki decided to rename to Zexel in order to make progress in the US markets.
that first hikoki was ABOLUTELY still shooting nails. what in the world was that one about. how on earth was the wood getting torn up like that where it wasnt before if the nail wasnt getting shot

My Hikoki has randomly started firing 2 nails at a time! Any suggestions?
Like it when he say Maakita in his irish accent
Why didn't you just add air to the last one first to see if that was the issue? When you fired it you can hear it had no air in it? Feel like you could have saved yourself a lot of time with that one by filling it with air first.
I’m glad your subs are going up, you really deserve every single one of them! Entertaining and educational content! If your reading this comment give this boy a sub and a like 👍🏻
I appreciate that!
Great vid! 👍
The hikoki all the way
I really do like your channel. Its a Nilfisk ALTO c120.2 (swedeish market, dont know if you have it in Ireland)
Best regards, Gunnar from Sweden.
Какое давление нужно подать?
Great video, just wondering when you said the Metabo was from overseas, maybe it was de pressurised for import? Good work btw
Koo videos need an metabo hpt 18ga brad nailer repair.
Why.
😅I was surprised he didn't have a valve core removal tool either! Someone should send him one😂🛠️🔧👍🏻👌🏻👨🏻🔧😀🍻
Hi Dean, great stuff!
How do i go about getting some tools to you for repair?
Thanks
sorry you cannt. Im only doing local repairs and there is no way i can take on more work
@@deandohertygreaser ok thanks 👍
Just needs a regas then they just keep shittin and shittin and shittin. Allll day long maybe shit a thousand nails. Haha I watch your videos all the time because your so smart and a great teacher but my American brain just cannot unhear you saying shit a billion times. Please don't change
I guess you nailed it then 😂😂😂😂
Love your work Dean, but, Makita framing nailer, where the bloody hell are you.

The makita gas guns are useless. They were never popular. I really get them in. But when I do ill post a video for you
@@deandohertygreaserhe's referencing the Makita Battery Framer that has many patents out, may be released late next year
Were did u get the filling adapter mate and what psi do they fill to
Bought mine on Amazon... think in other bids it said to set compressor to 70psi ... but shouldn't matter w the regulator built into tool
@@christopherkingrey4411do you have link yo adapter mate
How many PSI / BAR do you charge the gun up to?
It seems that special Hykoki\MetaboHPT air line tool has a regulator on it to put the proper pressure in it. I don't know the exact PSI, off hand tho. That's why they want you to buy their specialty tool! 🤔🤷🏻♂️👍🏻👌🏻👨🏻🔧😀🍻
I think the vids I watched said to set compressor at 70 psi
Metabo HPT (Hikoki/Hitachi Power Tools)
Not the kind of dirty magazine i was thinking if.
I would love to have your job or work with you I will learn a lot
Hitachi bought Metabo then sell Koki division to Chinese without rights to Hitachi name.So they decided to rename tools Hikoki (Hitachi +Koki) and for America Metabo HPT (Hitachi power tools-HPT).
they are very heavy
Speaking of cons, DIY tool con: Ozito (Einhell in EU) want AUD $20 for brushes for their AUD $50 random orbital. 7 years old, guess I'll buy a new one.
Unless you really love it, I'd buy a different brand out of disrespect! And send a barrage of emails to corporate!
@@richardmccann4815 I only love it because I've been abusing it for 7 years, on 4th base pad. Corded unit, but has outperformed/outlasted similar Makita and AEG models. Will take your advise though!
Ozito are throw away tools, surprised they have any spares for them at all.
@@slasher9883 agree for the most part, corded tools way better than their battery range though. More the principal of thing on brushes cost
Koki is insanely cheap when it says Metabo HPT on it. Over €200 for a drive pin? That’s basically the price of the tool + charger and battery.
I'm referring to the prices in Ireland. The tool batteries and charger cost around 700 here
Milwaukee no
I will no longer buy a product that can't be repaired, the problem is finding them.
😊😊😊😊😊😊
I think the branding thing is to do with the perception that the USA doesn't like things Japanese. I remember when Japanese Diesel Kiki decided to rename to Zexel in order to make progress in the US markets.
Maybe someone purposely left the air out of the Metabo, you know like a disgruntled employee.
So nobody is going to comment on what it sounds like when he says "shoot" lol?
that first hikoki was ABOLUTELY still shooting nails. what in the world was that one about.
how on earth was the wood getting torn up like that where it wasnt before if the nail wasnt getting shot
Drive pin overextends from the front and dimples the wood, this is so the framing nails sit below the surface
haych-tee-pee
Way to many jump cuts, every time you have a problem you cut it out instead of showing how you solved it...This is not helpful at all for someone trying to do this repair..
Sadly, if I didn't cut the length down, this would be 2 hours long on each full stripdown.
I wish I had your knowledge of these power tools. Amazing. I have a dhs680 makita circular saw it runs and the switches off. What could be the cause my good Sir.
