@@killuanatsume bro are you stupid? I don’t care if they already watched the sequel, they should also watch the first one. Jesus what’s wrong with you? Genuinely what’s wrong with you?
Addam’s Family - while being somewhat ‘evil’ and macabre (obsessed with death and darkness) - are an ideal family…the parents love each other and raise their kid’s equally, they can do basically anything they want, and expose the true evil forces of the world that try to hide behind wholesome facades.
I remember an article about the original show; "The Adams are the only family in american TV that act in a way that Kids are possible.", laughed my pants off, but its absolutely correct :D
20:58--Glad you guys got to see what a funny actress Joan Cusack is...She steals scenes in almost every film she's in! As for Ricci ( Wendsday) She was only what, 11 back then but you already knew she was gonna be great as an adult, too. Still miss Raul Julia ( Gomez)..He was a very commanding and energetic actor, left us way too soon.
15:28 As you might have guessed by now.......Gomez Addams isn't a man to do things by halves. He's either in the depths of despair or he's jubilant. And that's true in both 90s movies and the 1960s tv series. And in the rest of the entire Addams family franchise. But he's still devoted heart and soul to his wife and is a loving father.
I grew up watching these movies. I wanted to grow up to be Wednesday. I tried watching the original 1960s series, but it was just too cheery, and I like these so much better.
10:50 - I believe that the response to the Michael Jackson poster was more about the "Heal the World" schmaltz, than because of the child-abuse allegations. This film came out in November of 1993; it was filmed mostly in the first half of that year. The allegations of child abuse against Jackson didn't become public until August of that year. So while it's possible they filmed that sequence after the allegations came out, as a response to them, I don't believe that is the case. The whole cabin where they're being held is filled with posters of puppies, kittens, unicorns, rainbows, schmaltz-y, syrup-y, "feel-good" stuff. "Heal the World," released the previous year, is all about peace and love and caring for the children, and ending war, and stuff like that. All good things, obviously: but presented in a very melodramatic, maudlin, bleeding-heart kind of way, which many mocked, at the time. Actually, MJ was supposed to have contributed a song to this film- but it was not included, for some kind of licensing reasons, I believe. The allegations against him, of course, did not help! But I don't think that those allegations are what "Joel" is reacting to in that scene; he's reacting to the song. I could be wrong; anyone who knows for a fact: feel free to corroborate, or correct me.

True. Although it's been funny to me that I basically Benjamin Button'd Christina Ricci at first,since I discovered her in"Casper",then I watched"Addams Family Values"and _then_ I watched"Addams Family"!😄🖤
10:16 - "Did she sense it?" Wednesday's psychic abilities are a recent invention of the "Wednesday" TV show. In the original '60s TV series, and in these '90s films, Wednesday did not display any psychic phenomena. Perhaps a general Addams-family sort of mystical connection: the family is crazy and kooky and spooky, after all. But this was not a psychic vision, like in the recent TV show.
this Wednesday Addams will forever and always be my favourite one.. so many quotables delivered perfectly.. One of, if not, the best Christina Ricci movie ever, imo. lol She's fantastic.
If you want to see Christian Ricci even younger, she was very young in a movie called Mermaids with Cher and Wynona Ryder. Family Comedy/Drama about coming of age. I love Addams Family Values though. It's the best Thanksgiving movie ever, lol. That scene is iconic.
21:02 Insurance? If she was able to frame it as an accident she might be able to get a tidy sum for the insurance - and chances are all of those expensive things were insured.

1938-1988: Charles Addams, cartoonist for The New Yorker magazine, draws a series of cartoons featuring a weird, macabre, family of weirdos, interspersed among all his other weird cartoons. These characters had no names, just funny dark humor, in mostly a one-panel magazine comic format. 1964: The Addams Family TV show aired for two seasons. Shot in black and white (though there were color televisions and other TV shows in color, black and white was not completely out of vogue. It was cheaper, and it fit the gothic aesthetic of this creepy, macabre family. several years pass. Several cartoons, TV specials, etc, featuring versions of the characters. 1991: The Addams Family- feature film, starring Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christopher Lloyd, Christina Ricci, and cast. You skipped over this one!! See it, right away!!! 1993: Addams Family Values- sequel, featuring the same beloved cast. More film versions, animated versions, a stage musical, etc. 2022: Wednesday series premiers on Netflix. Focusing almost exclusively on the titular Wednesday character, other family members also feature in supporting roles. This TV show brings in a much heavier dose of real supernatural elements and outright magic. Most of the previous incarnations had only hinted at a supernatural element to the Addams Family. A gate with personality. A disembodied hand. Preternatural protection from electrocution, or poison, etc. Paintings and books that move or come alive in a fashion. But they were always just kind of kooky, just a little creepy, the kind of thing one could almost- ALMOST- ascribe to a fanciful imagination, or luck. But The Wednesday TV show went full-bore: telekinesis, visions, incantations, spells, time travel, ghosts, werewolves, vampires, sirens, gorgons. IMHO, they strayed too far from the simply "weird" into the full-on "supernatural." But, it was an entertaining show, with interesting characters. I have other pros and cons, praises and criticisms. I'm curious to see how the next season plays out. [There was also a very UN-official "Adult Wednesday" series of RUclips videos- well before the Netflix show. As I understand it, those who held the rights made her take them down due to copyright, but I think they've been re-instated, with some kind of agreement? They were VERY well-made; the creator and star did a fantastic job of putting The Wednesday character (very much coming from the 1991 mold), aging her into early adulthood, navigating the world of roommates, a job, street cat-calls, the aspects of everyday life for 20-something women of the 21st century, seen through Wednesday Addams' eyes, and reacted to in her own Addams-family way. If you can find it, I highly recommend giving it a watch!] I'm sure that some future version of The Addams Family will have its own style; they have been a part of the American landscape for many years, and will be for many more, I'm sure.
The music short film 'Ghosts' was originally going to be a part of this movie, and Michael Jackson was going Star, but the segment got scrapped halfway through shooting(there's some original footage knocking around) as was making the the overall runtime too long - Then Michael hired the Legendary Stan Winston to Direct it as a separate project. They loved Michael and the joke is that He was such a good guy that He freaked out the Goths. The Harmony Hut is their version of a haunted house!😂
I like to think the "Adult Wednesday Addams" series by Melissa Hunter, takes place after this movie, and after the Netflix show. There was even a naughty version titled "Very Adult Wednesday Addams", same script but with the intimate scenes shown. 😲
🙋♂Done it both with this and"Home Alone 2". And also"The Rescuers Down Under",I think...🤔All cases in which the sequel is better than the 1st movie. Coincidence?🤷♂
This was the sequel. You need to watch the first movie. These movies were made at the right time for a perfect cast.
This is ironically much better than the first movie, one of the rare examples of a sequel better than the original.

Angelica Huston is one of those actors that all of her movies are good ones
A very talented family, actually
Everyone deserves a Gomez/Morticia.
