In the absence of Yve (Spiders), Frassai has somehow been slipping my mind lately. 😄 Definitely need to get back on the sampling train. Victoria sounds lovely.
I miss Yve!
I wear fragrance pretty lightly so samples seem to last me ages. I'm glad I do try them more heavily before buying a bottle though, because sometimes my feelings change when the scent lingers in the room rather than staying as a skin scent. I wore something recently that smelled good as a skin scent but then when I wore it a bit more liberally, it reminded me of potpourri 😞 P.S. Your cat is so lovely! How nice to have a cuddly assistant while you film
It is pretty lovely to have him snuggling up to me. x
I understand what you mean about conserving samples. I used to hoard quite a few precious and favorite things (skincare, chocolates, perfume, ect.). One day my whole mentality changed and I thought (and this is a little morbid) “what if I die tomorrow? I wouldn’t have gotten to use _____ at all.” It might sound a bit silly but now my mentality is more like seize the day, not only use the things I love today but do the things I want today. Going back to perfume, I still might save some samples for to go out, but it’s like the next time I go out…as in this Friday or next week, not next month when I go to whatever special occasion.
I love this Jenny! So true! And I also have so many beautiful perfumes that even if I use up that “special” sample, I have many more to enjoy.
Thanks for the perfume talk. Fritz is so cute. Love his loud purrs 🧡
Hello Cherie,
I like the panoramas you shared at the end of the video. Those ocean views are so beautiful!
It's nice to know you loved the Victoria perfume as much after purchasing a full bottle, as when you tested it. Interesting how your experience of picking up notes in the fragrance changed with being able to liberally spray it.
Sometimes I can have a different experience with using the small samples opposed to spraying from a larger bottle. I do tend to use half of one of those tiny 0.7 ml samples in one go. I like to give the fragrance a fair chance and it does help with detecting more in the fragrance I am testing. It lets me better determine the longevity of a fragrance as well. Perfumes can perform so differently depending on the temperature and time of year here. Sometimes heat, cold and humidity can change what is pronounced note wise in a fragrance. It can be quite drastic in my experience. I like those white and yellow florals much more in warm weather than in Winter.
I tested Love Tuberose and Love Mimosa last week, one on each arm. I didn't use a lot in that test. It is cooler here and still Winter. Ice and snow are on the ground and its dipping below 0 *C. I think I will try them out again when the weather warms up. I think I expected a lot from them because of the complexity of some of the older lines of Amouage fragrance. They were pleasant but not a 'wow'. My expectations were quite high... So that could have effected my perception of them. I will give them another chance in the Summer.
I tried the Amouage Ashore and again... It's cold here, I had high expectations and it was nice. I felt like it wasn't impressing me. Again, I will save the remainder of my sample to try in warmer weather. It may do better in the heat. (Hot being relative because we mostly only get mid twenties in two to three months of the year here. 😆)
I am curious about Memoir, Victoria and Belle Âme and would like to eventually sample them.
Thanks for sharing your experience and method of testing. It's helpful hearing about those things.
Have a super week!
Take care!
💛~ Jenn
Hi Jenn! Yes I agree “Love” line of Amouage are very different and are a lot less complicated than some of their others. I think that’s why I quite like wearing them for bedtime really. 😊
12months tool late likely for this comment but here goes. Wore my sample of Victoria for a catch up with an old friend after an emotional time in both our lives. I ordered an Old Fashioned that came with a trendy smoke infusion on top. I dont know but between the emotion & the smoky sweetness of Victoria it felt like my cocktail was perfectly matched to the fragrance. Just holding myself back until he sober morning light before I hit the purchase button on Victoria. The dry down is glorious 3 hours after initial spray.
Not too late at all! I’m glad you have found a love - although sorry to hear you are having a tough time. I can just imagine how it would blend perfectly with that cocktail. Thank you for sharing 🙏
That purring 🥹❤
haha 🐱
You look so beautiful dear! ❤ Always happy to see Fritz and Poppy in videos❤ Memoir and Love tuberose were by best discoveries of past few months
One day when I finally get to Latvia we will have to go sniffing together Estere! We have such similar taste xx.
I need to start putting more of my samples on as well to get a proper wear
I usually give them a decent wear but it’s the ones I like the most that I am stingy with haha
I usually wear up a sample in 2 uses 🌹
For me it’s usually 2 or 3 - unless I’m hoarding it! 😬🙈
I love those Frassai bottles too, though I will always associate ELDO with that kind of labeling (I also love their bottles). I'm with you on sampling "properly", I'm also always trying to make my little samples last as long as I can, especially since the local niche store offers 1ml dabbers only. But if I'm honest, the deciding moment for several of my purchases were when I gave them a proper wear and sprayed/dabbed more liberally. It's just a different experience.
Ah yes true I had forgotten about ELDO as I dont own one. I almost bought Rien Intense a few years ago. Those dabbers drive me crazy!
Love your channel…I have watched you for awhile…but finally getting out of my shell and commenting. You are absolutely gorgeous and stunning!! Guidance by amouage…at least I think…would be a love of yours. I have had mine a week…gorgeous! I am a huge collector…over 350 bottles. I wish I could be brave and start a channel. I am just not there yet. My brother lives in Victoria…I live in the US. But he and his partner have an art studio there. Love the content…keep it coming. My husband and I can’t wait to visit Australia over Christmas to see our Bro!❤️
Thank you, thank you! I have been wearing a sample of Guidance the past few days, its another one that is super intriguing! Oh you should definitely start a channel if you want to! You would have loads to share and theres always room for more on here haha xx
I just ordered a sample of Belle Ame. I'm really looking forward to trying it as iris is my favorite note. When I was younger, I didn't like sweet perfumes either. I generally preferred chypres. I have also found myself gravitating towards some sweeter scents as I get older. I still love a mossy perfume but don't crave them as I used to. I also find them harder to wear as a lot of people don't like them.
I recently sampled Babycat and Starlight but, luckily, I didn't like either enough to want them. 😊 Love your videos!
Oh would be keen to get your thoughts on Babycat, I have a feeling I would like it but wondering if I would like it enough to justify buying. I know what you mean about the mossy ones, although Tuberose & Moss is still on my wishlist. I finally found my sample of Starlight the other day so will have to sample it properly soon.
Babycat was vinyl and hairspray for me with a powdery vanilla behind it. I get a similar experience from Gris Charnel. They don't smell alike but there seems to be a synthetic note that my brain interprets that way. It could be amber gris or a woody note. If you test it, I hope you have a different experience. ❤
Babycat oh oh shall I say something ? I got obsessed with this one. I smelled it for weeks in a perfume shop where I live. Apparently the tester bottle was one of the first formulations or just a good batch. I bought a bottle, a big one! 300€ which I have never done before and it was shit (sorry) the suede note gone, just a another vanilla perfume. Good enough it was sold out where I live and I ordered it in another country which accepts returned purchases.... I'm not proud of myself. Returning something which I used goes to the bin... But so much money... Something I learnt, careful with reformulations and trying not to get so obsessed with a bottle of perfume. But also difficult when this can get so emotional. Well all this to say please be careful with this one before buying because the reformulation here is quite wild 😂
Great Video! In my case if I like a sample I tend to overspray, I want it all at that exact moment. After 3-4 days I normally get more nuances and most of the time I do not like so much to go and buy a bottle (thanks god). That happened to me with Memoir, it is green, very dark but I find something off-putting in it on my skin and I can't explain what it is. so what can I say, I am glad I did not buy it during the initial excitement phase. I am having a moment with sticky fingers from Bianchi
, Oh I love it. What do you think of it ? I realise I tend to really enjoy a leathery orris😊 have a great Sunday evening ❤
Hey Sonia! I dont think I have tried Sticky Fingers, that one slipped through the cracks for me but I have been enjoying unspoken musk lately!
@@TheTopNote I do not know that one. I think I will ask for a discovery set in autumn (it is getting warmer now where I live and I associate Francesca's perfumes with cold weather ). I'm very curious about this brand
I love Belle Ame. I wish he had 50ml bottles!
I hear you!
It doesn't happen too often, but if I sample something that I absolutely love then I will usually buy a bottle immediately. Victoria was like that, Blanche Bête was like that, and I just sampled Spiritcask by Jorum Studio last week and received the full bottle yesterday. 😄 I think I'm too impulsive sometimes, lol.
Haha well me too Jim! Obvs! Yeah this one really grabbed me I have to say. I haven’t tried any bring from Jorum yet!
hello my fellow sufferer 😀💕
I did that too, I was so enthusiastic about Silky woods I just sniffed the tester I didn't dare to wear it properly, at most on the back of my hand it went on like this for months. now icj had ordered a second tester and thought this time i have to wear it properly and i suddenly noticed this oud note and now i want to ask you if you think that "island lush" smells just as unisex? because then I would rather choose it because I don't like oud that much
Hi Jasmin! Haha I know why do we stress ourselves out like this?! I liked Island Lush a lot more than silky woods but it isn’t as vanillic and I also get a bit of an aromatic twist in it too. It’s quite a big perfume but yes absolutely unisex albeit perhaps ever so slightly masculine leaning
which fragrance did you wear during the work days of the conference?
I pretty much wore Victoria every day for the conference and changed it up for the events in the evenings :)
😻😻😻
He's definitely turning on the charm lately, Natalia!
