Really enjoying at the moment is the 2023 release by Serge Lutens : Écrin de fumée. It’s an enveloping, cosy tobacco scent.

I have been so happy with all the perfumes I bought because of you that I’m sure I could blind buy this list and be fine!! 😂 Ormonde Jayne is definitely a brand I want to explore even more. Woman, Levant and Damask Rose being all favorites in my collection, I’m sure there are plenty more for me to love. Happy new year to you and Matt! 🎉

Merry Christmas!! So true, how we all perceive scent wildly differently. As well our experiences and tastes I would say is how our noses actually smell aromachemicals. I am quite sensitive to many widely used aromachems so for example I cannot enjoy any Ormonde Jayne though I wish I could, because of the aromachemical profile they use (hefty on IsoE super) causes anosmia when smelling on myself and this kills the scents for me.

So true about aromachemicals! I am not anosmic to them but I know a lot of people really struggle with them. Happy new year! xx
@Cicelyize Yes! The IsoE super in Ormonde Jayne’s Woman sadly ruined and overpowered the whole composition. I couldn’t get past that note and sold it as quickly as I could. So sad as I wanted to love it, but waaaay too much aromachemical for me. ☹️
Loved the sound of Unue… will be writing that down to sample 😊

Hi Cherie ❤ top of the year are my fave videos. I also love Guidance and I am very curious about Opera. I tested it once but I think I need more testing as my nose was overwhelmed back then by too many fragrances 😅❤

My greatest discoveries this year has to be white flowers in perfume😊Tuberose was always a hard note for me,but this year I have started to like them more and more. Un Matin d'Orage is one that you influenced me to try,and I really like it a lot. Next autumn my husband and I will go on a 6 weeks holiday to Italy, and I hope to discover some perfumegems there,I absolutely want to visit Santa Maria Novella. Carthusia is also a house that I really like.

I discovered a lot of wonderful fragrances in 2023, and some of my favorites are Tabacco Honey by Guerlain, Tolu by Ormonde Jayne, and Oud Satin Mood by MFK.

Just ordered a bottle of Narcisco Rouge EDP ❤️ which I seem to recall was a bottle you ran thru; will be excited to wear it in the spring.
Hi Jill, HNY! I am still wearing Narciso Rouge, its fantastic. I have even been wearing it in the summer. Oh you know I hadnt thought to compare Belle Ame with Oh La La! I might have to add that to the "This or That" list :) x
As usual we have similar taste in perfume. The lady white snake, I tried it in Harrods when I was having holiday in London few days ago. It’s very nice and tempted to buy it. But I bought the Dyptique harrods exclusive so I didn’t buy it

Marry Christmas smelly friend! Believe it or not Burberry goddess and d&g Devotion are very good releases...my favorite discovery of the year was lait Concentré by Chabaud and tyger tyger by Franchesca Bianchi ...love your tast in perfumes and i really want to try Godet line now

Do you find Lady white snake has a season/temp ? I want to love it, but it is so synthetic on my skin. At present it is in storage to macerate (keeping fingers crossed it settles). Love and happiness.

I feel Opera the same way, very formal, woody and such a big floral. I cannot wear it though, it wears me instead.

Oh agree about the linear nature of the Xerjoffs but Im ok with that, as long as I like how it smells of course! I havent tried that one from OWB! I must revisit their offerings, I recall liking a few that I sampled a few years ago! x
There is a fragrance from lush quiet expensiv thow its called „the smell of weather turning“ did you try that one? And i also wanted to know your opinion of the latest torino 23 from Xerjoff because that one hast a Tuberose Note ❤
Yes, I am keen to try Torino 23, because…tuberose! I’ll try and source a sample. I have not tried the Lush one :)
I tried Guidance this summer and it wasn’t love at first. But with a bit colder weather, yes 💟

How does l’Iris compare to Chanel No. 19 which is another green Iris?
oooh good question, Henna! I think No.19 is much greener, and there is the oakmoss in that as well. L'iris doesnt actually go quite that green for me, I find it more fresh iris than green iris, if that makes sense.
Happy Holidays Cherie! Surprised that Weeping Rose didn’t make your list, I only saw reviews from you and Moody Boo and I bought blind, and love it sooo much, I wish the bottle was bigger. It’s such a beautiful, captivating, comforting tea rose, probably the most beautiful rose scent in my massive collection.
Belle Ame - the one note that has kept me from buying is the used latex smell that smurfygurl and rich mitch talk about, do you get that at all and where does it come from?
I just received my Penhaligons Omniscient Mr. Thompson and all I get is a prominent latex note from start all the way thru dry down, and I paid full price at LuckyScent :(. Is this an Iris thing? Bc I have Dior homme parfum and don’t get that vinyl/latex note at all.
Weeping Rose wasn’t a 2023 discovery for me though :) but it is gorgeous. I confess I don’t get a latex note from Belle Ame or if I do it hasn’t been prominent enough for me to pay attention to it. I suppose it could be the orris or maybe orris in combination with specific florals?

I have! They are bombastic and on the sweeter side. I actually wasn’t a fan of the neroli one because it was so sweet. I actually thought that one was going to be the one I enjoyed the most.
I do have a travel size of the ruby n vanilla which was given to me by a friend and I quite enjoy it, but definitely need cold weather to wear it.
I think my favourite from the range that I’ve tried is deep n desire yacht, but I haven’t splurged on a bottle yet.
I have tried Ruby N Vanilla intense, the neroli, and Alexandrite n Patchouli. I like all 3 but am waiting for a sample of Deep n Desire, have heard good things. I also am anxious to get Ormonde woman, it is on its way:) I only purchase travel sizes or samples, have learned my lesson on buying full bottle because of a review!@@TheTopNote
Oh no! Guidance didn't work on my skin, it made me gag with all the aroma chemicals and melange of notes competing for attention. On a similar note, Ormond Jayne perfumes use too much ISO E Super and they hurt my throat. I'd rather now support independent perfumes like Belle Ame, which I find truly comforting. :)
OJ do use a lot of isoE for sure. A work colleague of mine is sensitive to them too and she would get allergy symptoms when I wore them. Once I realised it was my perfume I stopped wearing OJ to work if I was going to be around her. I still consider OJ to be independent though but I know what you mean and Belle Ame is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
