@@TopDrumCorps they haven’t won drums in a while mostly bc of their inconsistency in the bassline. The basses this year are a lot better. Remember coats won drums when everybody thought Boston would. I have a feeling it’s gonna be a similar situation.
@@dadecountydevonhapner I didn’t think Boston would win drums despite how awesome they were. Knew it was SCV or Coats. You saying they haven’t won drums mostly because of their basses is silly. It’s the writing. Devs aren’t musical. It sounds like hacking. Their pit is fantastic but their drum books lack musicality and their line lacks true cleanliness until the last Big 3 comps. Props to them playing this hard of a book though. All I’m saying is, it’s not writing that wins unless it’s absolutely perfect
I predict this Drumline will become a part of the “best Drumline ever” debate by the time they’re finals clean. My vote still goes to phantom 2010 though
Good theory but not what happened. My son is in Q5 this year, and his place wasn't set until after second round of try-outs, which I think was December. First weekend camp was (I think) January. (Not sure if you were just having fun or being serious, but thought I'd offer our experience on the chance you were curious about how their process goes).
What she said ^ They've done it the same for years - Initial auditions in December, callbacks in January where they set the line. First full ensemble camp is in April after Winter season dies down. From there, all days and tour.
@@newhyperspace43 I was on the tenor line for winter drumline from freshman to junior year in high school. Senior year I dropped out of marching band all together and instead played drum set for jazz bands, black metal bands, powerviolence bands, metallic hardcore bands, salsa bands, and guitar for various other bands. Yet still, myself and the rest of us in drumline never went "Gak gAk GaK GAK" smh. If you have to be this loud to count time, your not practicing correctly.

wow last years tenor line was sick this one is even better!
I wonder if bd will keep it as a drum line tradition that'd be really cool
1:01 , cool drill and even cooler snare break. RCC outdoor is sounding really fucking good this year 😂
rcc outdoor???!?! 💀💀💀

New intro sequence 🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🏾
These guys are already a lot cleaner compared to early footage a week or two ago🤯
4:48 big respect for them doing the SCV visual
The two corps have always had a camaraderie. Hell, they shared an anniversary gala in 2017.
By my eyes that is not the scv visual. The scv visual is SCV in sign language
@@spellingchampeon that's exactly what they're doing...
As a Bay Area DCI fan, I’ve always loved these two corps’ friendship. ❤
@@spellingchampeon why don't u watch that clip again haha
Yessir Blue Devils! 💚🥁💚🥁
I’m diggin’ those taiko-esque arm swing visuals!
Do it for Float Devs!
The snare break is on a different level 🤟. Also, the show rips.
Attitude. Take that!
Always bringing the heat 🔥
1:58 bringing back the diddy mix from last year 🔥
Q5 on absolute FIRE this year
Yeah BD!
just when you think you got drums figured out this year BD comes in like this 😭
They come in dirtier than everybody else

This is the cleanest I have heard BD out the gate in a long time.

2:20 is gonna be SO sick at finals
the snare line is like exactly the same as last year but with like 2 or 3 roc people
😱 1:43 uff, es demasiado adictivo eso!! Dan ganas de bailarlo!!! Te amo Blue devils ❤🙏🏽
5:41 sprinkling some of that McNutt Special, I hear…
we need more mcnutt special
Yeah they’re coming for that Sanford 👀
They gotta get clean first
@@TopDrumCorps Dude it’s the Blue Devils. They’ll be clean.
@@TopDrumCorps also they’re already pretty clean for how hard that book is.
I’ll be there!
The most notes BD has played in A WHILE! It will be interesting to see if they can get clean by Finals.

Luar biasa semangatnya😇👏👏👏
1:48 gives HELLA 2014 vibes
The right stick visual 👏
either im getting old, or these lines are just getting younger and younger... probs the former
Bing bong
This years line could play games or play notes and I don’t see any fucking monopoly.
2:20 feels very much like a blue devils drum break, it will sound even better come regionals.
4:16 CLEAN

the culture up on this one
I dig the snare tuning
It’s great we have a female snare this time
Someone please film a bass only video
Who writes their stuff?
Dave Glyde is the battery arranger!
which tenor sticks are they using? :)
They are using new Rudy Garcia signature sticks from Pro-Mark. We will be talking with Rudy soon about them!
