    Excellent video! From your work and instruction to your T shirts. Horror at the router table. No really, I picked up a couple things at least. A+

      Thanks Daniel, I do like my metal t-shirts and I was a bit worried the video was going to turn out a bit too snappy and not very informative, I tried to cram a lot into this one

    VERY instructional - you have a great way of explaining your (very logical) thought processes; you are clearly a very meticulous luthier... which naturally translates to some truly excellent work. Following this build with great anticipation. (New workshop is looking kuwel, too!)

      Thanks Nigel, it's more of having learnt the hard way a few times than an actual thought process but I'll take the compliment. Hopefully it will meet expectations, plenty of opportunities to cock it up yet.

    I picked up a #6 Stanley on Ebay back in January. It's quickly become my favorite plane!

      @ADFinlayson  3 года назад

      Totally, I've been making do with cheap faithful planes since I started building which were fine to get started. But I think I'm going to have to replace them all with Stanleys

    Iam changing my thinking about fb thickness. I now agree with you that a 5-6 mm finger board gives best result ,more meat for a C shape neck shape .every mm is important. Not to mention that suppliers seem to be milling fb blanks thinner

    • @ADFinlayson
      @ADFinlayson  3 года назад

      Yeah, PRS and Fender both have fairly thin fretboards too so I don't think strength of a quarter sawn board is going to be much of an issue, but this neck isn't quarter sawn so I'd rather play it safe.

    Looking great. That end grain router table event was terrifying.

    • @ADFinlayson
      @ADFinlayson  3 года назад +3

      Yeah router tables are terrifying, I use them as little as possible but hand held routing a neck is equally as sketchy, I've done that at least a dozen times.

    Great video. Thanks! Wood binding is so much more classy than plastic IMO. Same with shell inlay over plastic.

    THE NECK SHAPE PIECES IS GORGEOUS!!👏✌✌👌✌,......HEADSTOCK IS A QUESTION OF VIEW, OF STYLE!!☝✋👌,.....THIS IS NOT A MAPLE NECK????BUT MAYBE A GOOD WOOD

      The neck is made from Bosnian Walnut, much harder than black walnut, more like a maple.

    Did you have any neck angle on this build or just straight? Absolutely stunning guitar!

    Great video. Thanks for sharing your technique. What have you used as an explosion proof fan for your spray booth?

    • @ADFinlayson
      @ADFinlayson  Год назад

      It’s a 12” atex axial fan mounted direct to the exterior wall

      @@ADFinlayson thanks for the reply. Looking to replicate something similar on a budget. Did you find anything costing much less than the £150 ones available on eBay in the uK?

    • @ADFinlayson
      @ADFinlayson  Год назад

      @@markscheiner3952 you might struggle with £150. I got this fan from Powerstar Electrical powerstarelectricals.co.uk/ and it was about £300, I just went to find the link but they don't seem to have a section for explosion proof fans anymore. Any ATEX rated fan with a sufficient CFM for your booth design will do. I actually designed my booth around the fan.

    • @markscheiner3952
      @markscheiner3952 Год назад

      @@ADFinlayson thanks again for the help. Last question. Any idea what CFM your fan had and are you happy with the throughput? I would expect to try and build something similar. Cheers

    • @ADFinlayson
      @ADFinlayson  Год назад

      @@markscheiner3952 my fan is specced at 30CFM and my booth is about 5m³ so air flow is very good, I can spray with the booth door open which I do if the camera is setup as it's in the door way but there are no fumes leaving the booth. A lot of this depends on booth design though, good seals on all the walls, and a clogged up filter will reduce air flow dramatically.
