Building a SEMI HOLLOW CARVED TOP DOUBLE CUT electric guitar with NITRO FINISH | GGBO2021

  • In this video I build a semi hollow carved top double cut electric guitar with f hole. I stain the guitar with angelus leather dyes and give the body and headstock a nitrocellulose clear coat finish.

    Guitar Specs:
    Top: Eastern European quilted maple, 21mm thick, 7mm faux binding, f-hole
    Back: American blank walnut, 1 piece, ebony control cover, semi hollow construction
    Neck: Eastern European walnut
    Fretboard: Indian ebony, quilted maple binding (use up those offcuts), Abalone rune inlays at 12th fret, 4mm abalone dots and 2mm abalone side dotes, compound radius 9.5" - 12.5"
    25" sclale, 24 frets, medium 18% nickel fret wire
    Finish: Pink + green stain (angelus dyes), clean nitrocellulose on body + headstock, danish oil on neck and headstock veneer
    Nut: Bone
    Hardware: Schaller Signum bridge, Sperzel tuners, nickel with ebony knobs and tuner buttons
    Electronics: PRS HFS + Vintage bass pickups, master vol + treble bleed, master tone, 5 way blade, mini toggle with tuned split on positions 1 and 5

    This is a great build and a great video. Incredible skill and craftsman ship to build the guitar and do all the inlays and staining and more highly skilled parts of the job. You could easily work for PRS with these skills. Love all the details. I was kinda hoping the switch on teh guitar was a piezo as i'd love to head what piezo bridges sounds like with Tremonti style pickups and amp. You got a new follower today.

    I wasn't too sure about the color when you were applying it, but under that high gloss finish it looks great.

      Thanks Dave. A fair few of my viewers switched off when I put the second layer of stain on but stains always look very different once they've got lacquer on them. You've got the yellowing effect of the lacquer and the base stain colour will always be the dominant colour if it's not sanded way back.

      Thank you. Sorry I don’t, I didn’t work off pdf and this shape is not the same as a prs semi hollow - I drew a similar design to the classic DC and made a template
