I dont think that because i think it´s 3M VHB Tape. And this tape is very strong. With this tape are the outer panels of the Walt-Disney Concert Hall taped. (According to the website of 3M)
If you just join the spoiler to the body with a piece of that electrical tape in the centre, then cut it with a craft knife at the join, it can serve as a perfect alignment marker when you expose the adhesive.
For application cleaning the best would be isopropanol - No residues and evaporates quickly :) and primer has an influance - Its a kind of booster So it’s not influencing final bonding strenght but increases the speed of bonding (the guy used instead different pretreatment - heating up - same effect :)) spoiler looks great - highway in Germany is waiting for you Bjorn :)
9:42 Actually the spoiler sits perfectly in the center. To measure the exact same distance on the left side, you should have looked at the lower side of the measuring tape, not the top. - If you extend the 13cm mark down to the inch scale you are at exactly 13cm. So the spoiler is perfectly centered. - Great job!!
Not a single human being can see a 2mm difference in a 2m spoiler, and also, its pretty hard to be that precise, so being exactly centered is kinda impossible
Is that for cars with the optional £3700 upgrade pack? I'm looking at getting the base level performance model, but would love to be able to just add the spoiler to unlock the higher speed. Even better, if the base level performance model is including the spoiler.
his application process seems better than Tesla mobile techs, at least in terms of minimizing corner lift. The heat gun and holding and pushing the corners in is a good touch.
Would have used that primer just to be sure. Extreme heat and high pressure is coming to Europe and that in combination with the stress of 261 km/h can make some impact..Anyway,good luck.
The top speed unlock only took 15 Minutes at Tesla in Hamburg, Germany. I drive a fairly empty Autobahn every day and have only managed 250 km/h until I had to pass cars again (I'm not comfortable passing at those speeds). The M3P doesn't give the level of confidence at those speeds compared to the German 3. It doesn't feel like on "rails" as those. What's great is the awesome acceleration after traffic clears, which leaves those others in the dust.
And also the bit where he wiped the bottom of the bottle with the (not very clean looking) rag that was then used on the car, what if the bottle had been sitting on some grit, why did it need to be wiped? I suspect Tesla service have a full size template they clip to the car for quick/accurate centring, that was even alluded to with the talk of the "tool".
Also noticed, grabbing the surface after cleaning.... Also....measuring 12,5 and 13 cm to the sides, which needs a correction of 0,25cm. „We got to move it just about an inch“ 😁
9:27 - 13 cm at the right side. 9:39 - 13 cm at the left side really, as well: measure the lower edge of the tape, even if the cm scale is at the upper edge this time!
Guybrush Threepwood he said 12,5 cm when it was more Close to 13.2 cm, because he measured too long from the spoiler and in the left side he measured correct.
I could tell at the beginning that the spoiler wont be centered. You should not mark the position that way. Its not precise enough. Instead one should put a piece of tape on the spoiler and a piece on the trunk (both should be in line and almost touching). Once the spoiler is precisely centered you take a pen and draw a line from one to the other piece of tape. That line is now your indicator. One should also not completely pull the red backing of the double sided tape prior to positioning it on the trunk. Instead pull just half an inch of the backing off and fold so it sticks out from under the spoiler (in the video you see that the red backing sticks out already). Position the spoiler precisely. If the position is correct - pull on the piece of backing that sticks out. The double sided tape will be exposed. The guy who installed your spoiler had no business doing it for you. He had no idea what he was doing.
@@cawfeedawg warming the material up is to get it softer, so the risk of no attached areas is less. I would also use the 3M primer, because the job of a spoiler is to produce downforce and this ist not a few grams.
Adhesive only spoilers never stay on, they always start to pull off eventually. The problem is many hours in hot summer heat causes adhesive to loosen over time.

@@adrian.farcas It's not really 13 cm at 4:37. The end of the tape measure is about 1.5 mm from the spoiler's end, it seems. So it's more like 12.7+1.5=12.85. It's not really discernible how much it is at the left this time. Then he moves it to the left by ~5mm. But then again, he puts it back a little bit to the right after removing the blue foil of the 3M sheet. Ending up 13 cm at both sides at the very end, I think. :)

About that mounting, the guy made a basic mistake when measured on the left side, he didn't put the measuring tape perpendicular to the gap, hence the small difference. But that isn't a problem, I would gladly keep it for me and wouldn't realign it! 😊
Why do you have to take it to a service centre for the upgrade if its done over the air? Is it because they don't trust the person who fitted the spoiler!
Bjørn Nyland you are right that the Nokian Hakka Black 2 are rated for 300km/h; but these are summer tires, right? Or do they have a winter version too? I watched your Finnmark trip videos from just a handful of days ago where you mentioned you had kept the winter tires on and assumed that you were still with those tires. As far as I know all winter tires have a speed rating of 240kmh because the winter tyre silica rubber is a bit weaker than regular rubber and is thus risky at high speed.
