The information is easily accessible, all it takes is your effort, focus, and time. You're in the video space, enjoy doing it, and have ideas, so go be hands on. I think that the majority of your followers are interested in you: your personality, your story, your life, etc. so it's not so important if the light isn't perfect or if there many cuts or if the videos are short. I'm glad the channel is growing so fast. I am always wary of creators asking for help from people who should be getting paid for their efforts, but i know that there is a chicken and egg problem for small creators.
@@johnhaller5851 I fundamentally disagree, even if capitalism would rather we think like that we should do free work just to build our resumes to get future work. By that logic, as long as it helps their resume/future prospects, you should be able to hire _anyone_ (new to the business or not) and pay them in clout, referrals, pics of the work they did, etc. Unpaid internships are ethically dubious for a similar reason and it's the reason underpinning why we have minimum wage laws. I could see it being acceptable to pay them from future revenue generated from the business. That would make cash payment contingent on the channel's future success, but that would make them effectively an equity partner in the business. And if the channel succeds, I would expect they would get more cash than if you had paid them upfront (to compensate them for the risk of never being paid).

You can get a drone to do some of the filming. You mentioned filming you doing surfing or rock climbing, well some drones have a mode to follow you, so the drone will just do exactly that. OK having drones following you isn't going to get every camera angle, but it would help sometimes.

The RUclips algorythm is promoting your first video, it just randomly came up in my suggestions, so just keep making content. Preferably interesting and good content lol. First you need things to be passionate about. I like cooking, gardening, music and guitar playing, looking for treasures at thrift stores, hunting for and collecting native American artifacts, metal detecting. I don't understand people who say they aren't passionate about anything.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but they do make cameras on a gimbal that follow you as you move as well as drones that do the same. I've never used one, but I've seen some impressive demonstrations.

There are some cameras that will track you as you move about. If you need someone to help with filming then for practically it would have to be someone living in close proximity to you. Life is sad sometimes, but you shouldn’t give up. You’re very beautiful, I’m sure you can find someone near you.
Hi Erika, I think it’s real great that you are open-sourcing your channel to ultimately get help from the community to help film and edit your videos. I find that RUclips can be a great platform to learn from other successful creators. But I would caution you to be extra careful, going down the road to bring someone in whom you know nothing about could be a can of worms you wished you never opened. How about a family member instead? Either way stay safe!

My friend does video editing for his own RUclips channel (mostly a gaming channel though but he still has plenty of experience). Unfortunately we live in Canada (specifically southern Ontario) so he wouldn't be able to help if the work needs to be on-site. I'm sure you'll find the person you need though!
You can always do videos of your doggo doing funny things. French Bulldogs are pretty funny. You can get a lot of fart and belching ones, and temper tantrums are gold!!
To some extent, a drone, high enough quality to have a gimble, would hover and allow you to get some shots that a tripod can't do. It would not replace a cameraman, but it would add to your options. Love your genuiness! (sp) My channel is 1000 percent different than yours, (7DTD, zombie apocalypse gaming, like adult minecraft) but if you see anything regarding editing that interests you, I'd be glad to answer if I can. And I'm absolutely not jealous that you're crushing it, and I'm not, LOL.

I recommend you examine RUclips videos that you admire, have a large following and are doing the things you would like to do. Download these videos, observe and takes notes and try to duplicate what they do. Also, there are many online free books to read and learn about video editing.
Any modern camera suitable for vlogging has image stabilization, like a Sony or other Japanese brands. My experience with thise brands are very good. When you start learning to edit your vids, don’t use all the ”bells and wistles” the software offers, just keep it simple like switching instantly between clips or tone over if you want it softer. When I lived in Stockholm I took a course in video editing and was great fun and we got projects like ”film a person at work” or keywords like ”rain” or ”fire”. Then we all looked on it and came with helpful tips. Nowdays I do most photography in black and white with an old analog Hasselblad but videos are a great fun. Hope you find help in California, shouldn’t be that hard to find someone close by if you want to meet someone irl or find a course. Love your dog, have a cat named ”Lipton” like the tea brand!
Ohhhhhhh....shooting film through a Zeiss lensed Hasselblad🥰. 25 ASA Ilford B&W or Kodachrome 25. I've never loved photography so mush as I did with that. Check out Helmut Horn's Big Sur work.
Polebarn Garage had a great video on starting a channel that talks about equipment, editing, how to make your titles work for you and how to talk to the camera but I can't find it now. While you may not have interest in car stuff it's a more generalized video about content.

I said in a later video and email, make the video from the front, like you are in this video, maybe from the 2 oclock position (you are left handed) and it would be easier to see what you are doing. Doggo!!! Beautiful Doggo!!! Does Kiwi ever sing? I've seen tons of videos about French Bulldogs (e.g.: Walter, Haru & Griffin, some Ukrainian singing potato ) and when they get to howling, I loose my shit laughing. If you have any interest in music, encouraging Kiwi to become a great vocalist would likely get you a ton a views; if that's what interests you.
Erika I started making television over half a century ago when some of it was still in black and white. Believe me when I tell you that your videos are just fine the way you’re making them. Don’t put some kind of pressure to ramp up the production value on yourself. It’s REALLY not necessary right now. AT ALL. Keep with what you’re already doing. Simple doesn’t mean the same thing as easy and you have simple happening now. Simple is good too!
You should do a cross-country travel video, end up in PA and then I can help you do stuff.😅 You're doing exactly what I would've wanted a channel to be, just a lot of different things.

How about trying one of those cameras mounted on a drone that can track your movements? Also, a second camera (even a second cell phone camera) offers you a chance to have a B roll footage to edit into the cuts, especially if you can edit in the sound over both rolls. I am in Tennessee, not California. So it's a wee bit inconvenient of a commute for me. But you are in California- depending on what part of the state you are in, you could probably swing a dead cat and hit at least two people trying to get into the production end of show business in the back of the head? If my old friend Moose was still alive, he was in the business for a LONG time out there and could probably help you with it (or help you find decent help). I can ask a few friends who were friends of his out there to see who might know who. After all, networking is the key to all this sort of thing, right?
Your videos are pretty well for a starter. I am not the guy to help you out with what you want, but I want to say 1 thing: action cams like GoPro have video stabilization options, so viewers won't get nauseous from the footage. Such a cam is especially made for filming surfing/snowboarding/ mountainbiking/... I wish you good luck with your endeavour. 🙂
Surfing is gonna require special lenses and whatnot. Depending on where the breakwaters are. Some can be done from shore but others can be done with a gopro (w/ a flotation device) with someone else paddling beside you.

I don't want to sound critical, but I think maintaining eye contact with the camera will make for more engaging videos--you've already doing better at that, compared to your first video. The people following drones are very effective, but not cheap. But, they get shots a person couldn't. That might mean needing a drone operator more than a camera operator.

When I lived in Stockholm I took a course in video editing and was great fun and we got projects like ”film a person at work” or keywords like ”rain” or ”fire”. Then we all looked on it and came with helpful tips. Nowdays I do most photography in black and white with an old analog Hasselblad but videos are a great fun. Hope you find help in California, shouldn’t be that hard to find someone close by if you want to meet someone irl or find a course. Love your dog, have a cat named ”Lipton” like the tea brand!
Ohhhhhhh....shooting film through a Zeiss lensed Hasselblad🥰. 25 ASA Ilford B&W or Kodachrome 25. I've never loved photography so mush as I did with that. Check out Helmut Horn's Big Sur work.

Polebarn Garage had a great video on starting a channel that talks about equipment, editing, how to make your titles work for you and how to talk to the camera but I can't find it now. While you may not have interest in car stuff it's a more generalized video about content.

I've seen tons of videos about French Bulldogs (e.g.: Walter, Haru & Griffin, some Ukrainian singing potato ) and when they get to howling, I loose my shit laughing. If you have any interest in music, encouraging Kiwi to become a great vocalist would likely get you a ton a views; if that's what interests you.

Erika I started making television over half a century ago when some of it was still in black and white. Believe me when I tell you that your videos are just fine the way you’re making them. Don’t put some kind of pressure to ramp up the production value on yourself. It’s REALLY not necessary right now. AT ALL. Keep with what you’re already doing. Simple doesn’t mean the same thing as easy and you have simple happening now. Simple is good too!

It's impressive that you already have 5,690 subscribers after just 2 weeks! How do you think that happened? RUclips algorithm? Word of mouth?
How about trying one of those cameras mounted on a drone that can track your movements? Also, a second camera (even a second cell phone camera) offers you a chance to have a B roll footage to edit into the cuts, especially if you can edit in the sound over both rolls. I am in Tennessee, not California. So it's a wee bit inconvenient of a commute for me. But you are in California- depending on what part of the state you are in, you could probably swing a dead cat and hit at least two people trying to get into the production end of show business in the back of the head? If my old friend Moose was still alive, he was in the business for a LONG time out there and could probably help you with it (or help you find decent help). I can ask a few friends who were friends of his out there to see who might know who. After all, networking is the key to all this sort of thing, right?
I like the direction you are going in. Keep it up. Starting this channel and getting collaborators will help you in so many ways.

Your videos are pretty well for a starter. I am not the guy to help you out with what you want, but I want to say 1 thing: action cams like GoPro have video stabilization options, so viewers won't get nauseous from the footage. Such a cam is especially made for filming surfing/snowboarding/ mountainbiking/...

Surfing is gonna require special lenses and whatnot. Depending on where the breakwaters are. Some can be done from shore but others can be done with a gopro (w/ a flotation device) with someone else paddling beside you.
GoPro or Insta360 for outdoor activities, solo or group! Has its own editing app. You can do it! I do it all the time.

I don't want to sound critical, but I think maintaining eye contact with the camera will make for more engaging videos--you've already doing better at that, compared to your first video. The people following drones are very effective, but not cheap. But, they get shots a person couldn't. That might mean needing a drone operator more than a camera operator.
