In terms of meeting others in person, I'd highly recommend meeting at say a coffee shop for example or maybe even a library or a local park that has high traffic of people. A park that has tons of people around. Ofc not everyone, but when meeting anyone new, the majority of people meet at coffee shops which has become standard for most. I'm personally someone who likes be surrounded by nature though even though I don't do things like this as often as I should and probably could.

I always wanted to be an artist, but family, and lack of money were some hurdles that got in the way. It wasn't until I was almost 55 that I really became the artist that I am today. I'm a painter, and a film maker primarily. I've been more creative in the last 6 or 7 years of my life than all the years before that. I've done things that I never could have imagined a long time ago. You have to visualize for your self what you want to do. Make a picture in your imagination of what you want. Focus your energy on things which make you feel good. You're a lovely young person, you deserve good things for yourself. Your sincerity and down to earthness are touching. All the best to you!

Then he went to university in another city and now he is suddenly extrovert and has more friends and larger social life. I can see the change in him when he comes back for holidays and it is huge. When I was 22 I dropped out of college, broke up with my girlfriend and worked in retail full time. I was looking for something and only knew that my life was not "right". I moved to California, stayed on a friend's couch and after a few months I felt worse than I did in MI. I was forced to make a decision: stay and figure out a path or move back home. I ended up staying out there for 12 years and learned so much about myself. By making these videos you have already done the most important thing: make a decision. Life is a miracle. I know I'll get lost in all the thousands of emails you'll get but I'll will write you. I just watched your first vlog and just really liked how you presented yourself, honest and taking a chance. The fun part (yes fun part) is exploring the part of yourself you didn't know was in there, like you wanting to bake, breads or cakes. It's those first steps in any direction and baking is a great first step. You can make so many friends with just a plate of cookies made with your touch. this whole making friends here immediately i gotta jump in and say move forward with extreme caution, i have 50k subs ( tho ive deleted all my videos at this time ) and i have horror stories from dealing with fans, keep your distance while u get your footing here and dont let anyone into your personal/ private life without long term vetting - i dont wanna spook you away from youtube because its one of the best opportunities to make money at home but it comes at a cost of your privacy and sometimes safety ~ that being said good luck and just do whatever interests you and just be yourself but once you start emailing people directly they will feel a personal connection to you and thats where it gets sketchy, as for needing someone to film you, most youtubers dont have someone holding the camera, get a tripod

Good luck, Erika! Do keep in mind that you, as an adult, do not have enough free time to properly manage more than a couple dozen friendships, so don't say yes to more than you have time for! If you have 100 "cents" to spend on friends, it's better to four quarters (close friends you trust and talk with often) than 100 pennies (distant acquaintances.)
I would suggest looking for a class on photography and videography. You should find others also trying to learn and meet people with similar interest. You can probably find someone willing that will help you and in turn you could help them and make friends at the same time.
Be careful, not everyone has good intentions. Just be cautious, don’t do any meet ups or give out your address or anything like that. Anyway, thank you for being honest and without pretense. Life at 22 is hard because you’re trying to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life. You no longer are sheltered by your family and society expects you to go out and be on your own and be an adult , but it is hard to know where to start. If you’d like to cook, maybe start a Cooking Channel at some point. Go out and work and find something to do. Even if you don’t know what to do, just by being out there and working, you will get to know yourself, you will make friends, and you will hopefully learn some skills. At least that’s my advice.

Glad you are doing much better. I was in CA recently, and noticed how relaxed and friendly people are compared to the East coast. Which didn't surprise me, as when I lived there for a year some time ago, I had several incidents where something happened, and every time, people were friendly, willing to help and genuinely cared, and expected nothing in return. I have lived in several states, and visited most of them, and CA is by far my favorite. Great weather, great people and my wife was even half jokingly saying we needed to move there. Every time we visit however, she loves it there and really doesn't want to leave. So, appreciate what you have. You already live in a great area. Just need to meet some great people and find someone that truly cares about you, and you will be doing great going forward.

Interesting strategy Erika, looks like you'll have a lot of work if you're going to read all the e-mails. You can make friends online and there's a lot of nice people out there, but there's no substitute for real flesh and blood friends, so you'll need to explore your immediate social environment. Try finding out which interest groups meet in your area, be it sports, hobbies, crafts or book clubs etc. and go explore them, see what and who you find. Good luck.
I was thinking about your situation provided your need is genuine. Becoming a mediator is a good living and you seem wealthy enough to buy the course. You seem able to communicate and solving a dispute between parties would keep you focused and busy.

Don't be too hard on yourself as you have taken a positive step in trying to improve you life. For some people, when they feel the same as you, they resort to drugs or falling in love with an abusive and controlling person. You are a strong person in trying to find a positive way in your life than just giving up. Finding a passion in something doesn't have to be complicated. Playing a video game, admiring art in a museum, or going for a walk along a beach, park, or garden can be a passion as well as continue to try cook things you enjoy eating.

Erika, have you thought about joining a movie making class or group? Mixing with others, some structure to what's going to be achieved, learning some skills that you might enjoy. You're going to have a go at this yourself, and that might be best. You'll know. But a local group might be useful.
Make sure the people you invite into your own life are people you can get information about from other people you already know. Otherwise it takes time to prove a friendship. Don’t fall into a friendship: be picky instead. You can be an acquaintance with anyone at all! Choose friends carefully.
Glad to see you are taking off with such momentum. Hang in there and sort through thoise many emails with great care. I would suggest that you invest in taking an online course on video production and editing yourself, at first. Hiring someone is fine, but it will help for you to understand the basics and have some first hand experience. this whole making friends here immediately i gotta jump in and say move forward with extreme caution, i have 50k subs ( tho ive deleted all my videos at this time ) and i have horror stories from dealing with fans, keep your distance while u get your footing here and dont let anyone into your personal/ private life without long term vetting - i dont wanna spook you away from youtube because its one of the best opportunities to make money at home but it comes at a cost of your privacy and sometimes safety ~ that being said good luck and just do whatever interests you and just be yourself but once you start emailing people directly they will feel a personal connection to you and thats where it gets sketchy, as for needing someone to film you, most youtubers dont have someone holding the camera, get a tripod

Good luck, Erika! Do keep in mind that you, as an adult, do not have enough free time to properly manage more than a couple dozen friendships, so don't say yes to more than you have time for! If you have 100 "cents" to spend on friends, it's better to four quarters (close friends you trust and talk with often) than 100 pennies (distant acquaintances.)
I would suggest looking for a class on photography and videography. You should find others also trying to learn and meet people with similar interest. You can probably find someone willing that will help you and in turn you could help them and make friends at the same time.
Be careful, not everyone has good intentions. Just be cautious, don’t do any meet ups or give out your address or anything like that.
Anyway, thank you for being honest and without pretense. Life at 22 is hard because you’re trying to figure out what you want to do with the rest of your life. You no longer are sheltered by your family and society expects you to go out and be on your own and be an adult , but it is hard to know where to start. If you’d like to cook, maybe start a Cooking Channel at some point. Go out and work and find something to do. Even if you don’t know what to do, just by being out there and working, you will get to know yourself, you will make friends, and you will hopefully learn some skills. At least that’s my advice.

Glad you are doing much better. I was in CA recently, and noticed how relaxed and friendly people are compared to the East coast. Which didn't surprise me, as when I lived there for a year some time ago, I had several incidents where something happened, and every time, people were friendly, willing to help and genuinely cared, and expected nothing in return.
I have lived in several states, and visited most of them, and CA is by far my favorite. Great weather, great people and my wife was even half jokingly saying we needed to move there.
Every time we visit however, she loves it there and really doesn't want to leave. So, appreciate what you have. You already live in a great area. Just need to meet some great people and find someone that truly cares about you, and you will be doing great going forward.
Having kids your age, i am sensitive to your issue. you are a healthy well spoken individual. i hope you find your passion and live a rewarding joyful life.

Interesting strategy Erika, looks like you'll have a lot of work if you're going to read all the e-mails. You can make friends online and there's a lot of nice people out there, but there's no substitute for real flesh and blood friends, so you'll need to explore your immediate social environment. Try finding out which interest groups meet in your area, be it sports, hobbies, crafts or book clubs etc. and go explore them, see what and who you find. Good luck.

You are a brave and honest person Erika and you have a friend here. Like other people have said, be careful on who you interact with on emails. Don't be too hard on yourself as you have taken a positive step in trying to improve you life. For some people, when they feel the same as you, they resort to drugs or falling in love with an abusive and controlling person. You are a strong person in trying to find a positive way in your life than just giving up. Finding a passion in something doesn't have to be complicated. Playing a video game, admiring art in a museum, or going for a walk along a beach, park, or garden can be a passion as well as continue to try cook things you enjoy eating.

Erika, have you thought about joining a movie making class or group? Mixing with others, some structure to what's going to be achieved, learning some skills that you might enjoy.
You're going to have a go at this yourself, and that might be best.
You'll know.
But a local group might be useful.

Make sure the people you invite into your own life are people you can get information about from other people you already know. Otherwise it takes time to prove a friendship. Don’t fall into a friendship: be picky instead. You can be an acquaintance with anyone at all! Choose friends carefully.

I would suggest that you invest in taking an online course on video production and editing yourself, at first. Hiring someone is fine, but it will help for you to understand the basics and have some first hand experience.
