I always leave the TV on for my kitty. She likes Hallmark channel or Bravo, depending on what is on that day. Also, I leave a light on for her in the kitchen. Cats are the best.
My kitty is 5, and sometimes when it's really quiet in the house, she'll start crying sort of like the cat in the video. I think she thinks she's alone in the house. I'll just call her name, and she comes over and wants to get petted. A few weeks ago, I woke up suddenly and when I tried to walk, I fell (I'm on some really potent sleeping meds for my insomnia). Nina (my kitty) came over to me and let out a horrific cry until my Husband came into the room to help me. Just like dogs, cats love their humans and are very loyal to us

It is a cat not a child. Cats produce sounds that sound like babies to attract human attention. They are smart animals that know what to do to get what they want but they are not children who cry mommy ,mommy , I'm scared that is just ridiculous to even believe.
My cats always greet me when I come home, all three waiting at the door. One plops on her back rolling over, one on the table by my door to peek her head first, and my new kitten waiting on the door mat. Nearly 100% of the time I put my things down and take that moment to hug and kiss each one by name to let them know I missed them too :) They are more than pets, they are family. Show the love.
@Bella: I think the best kitty I ever had was in the mid-70s. I had always had kitties growing up, and when I got to my duty station I was living off base, but it was lonely. I made a trip to the local pound, and someone had abandoned a beautiful, snow white, sapphire blue eyed pregnant kitty. Her personality was apparent the moment I noticed her, and my decision was easy. We bonded immediately, she slept on my bed, and she talked to me nonstop. When she heard the car drive up, she'd be sitting by the door waiting for me. One night around 2am, she was standing next to my bed and practically screaming at me... I looked at her and asked what was wrong, and she would run halfway down the hall, then turn around to see if I was following. I finally got the hint, and followed her into the living room, where she immediately went into the nest I had made for her. I sat next to her, talking to her and keeping her calm while she delivered 5 gorgeous little bundles of fur... 4 jet black (all male) and sweet little calico girl. When she was finished doing her mom thing, she brought each one out to me to see and hold...I must have imprinted them, they thought I was the daddy hehe As the weeks and months went by, they too would line up at the door when they heard the car. As I walked in, Snowball (the mom) would sit and watch proudly as the kids all greeted me, meowing and begging to be held, except for the calico...she would immediately start climbing up my trouser leg. More than "pets" indeed.
I heard i love you and then where are you listen to the different tones can hear both being meowed :) this makes me wonder what my cat does when I'm not home
When I came home from surgery I was bed ridden and very sick. Spooky my cat would not leave my side. I couldn't do anything but lay in bed. I was up all night with a racking cough and by morning she still wouldn't leave to eat or drink. A friend came over and brought up her food and water and litter box to my room . She would only eat a little then go back to purring at my head. She always made contact with me physically and only left to drink ect. When I got up to use the bathroom. She stayed in my room the whole 2 weeks I was up there. She would lick my arm when she was washing herself and then lick my hand. When I was able to move around a little she would follow me everywhere just like before. I love her so much she is so loyal and loving.
Charley Billyk my mom’s cat is the same way when my mom is sick. And when my mom went to be with her sister for a couple of weeks because my aunt was sick she was upset and don’t want my mom near. She made sure to let my mom know that she was upset lol
I had a similar experience with my cat 8 years ago. We have new cats now, but my 1 cat was special. I miss his Zen Buddhist like purr, steady hum, like beta brain waves that soothe the brain & soul.
I have multiple, chronic health issues & there are many days where I’m in the bed. One of my cats will come & lay down beside me when I feel horrible. She will leave to eat, drink, etc but she will come check on me every hour or two, if she’s not laying by me. I also set an alarm to make sure I remember to open the garage door for my children when they get off the bus from school. My cat will come & make sure I’m moving towards the door when she hears the alarm go off.
They "Absolutely " miss their owners. That's why I'm always telling my cat when I go somewhere that mommy will be right back in a few minutes. I'm disabled somewhat so the furthest I go is up the street to feed a cat colony for appr. 20 minutes. When I get back its all good. I kiss her on her head.

Body language and tone of voice both are sad. I had a cat who started yowling fir me during a certain time when I was home. I spent a lot of time with her and hated having to put her down when she could not use her kidneys any more. I hated that. She was still talking to me when the tech took her into emergency in her carrier from the car during COVID. It was awful to lose my Tabitha.
It sounds like he's saying, "I love you" over and over. Also like, "Love you" a couple of times. I guess you tell your cat you love him. He's beautiful.
I still remember how my cat was when he saw me after 6 weeks. He was so happy he sakes his head like Am I dreaming? While he meow at the same time. When I opened the door I was afraid to accidently hit him. He was too close of the door. He was so happy. He didn't let me go aways for a week. He was a lovely cat. I miss him so much.
That's because we interprit meowing sounds as human language.... 😍 What he really says is ; "If you don't come back soon, I'll pee in your bed, and scratch the sofa into threads ! I want a biiiiiig chicken for dinner ! AND some new toys..." 😉
They really have different meows for what they're trying to communicate. Our cat actually sounds like he's saying "helloooo" when he wants to come into the bedroom and the door is closed. He also has a special meow for wanting clean water and he does it when he's sitting right near the water bowl :-)
Try sleeping with you're cat. 2 of my 4 sleep with me every night. It's very nice, and it's so nice not to wake up alone. I sometimes have utopian dreams, (that I know will never come true) and some of them have cats in them including some of my now deceased ones.
Our cat mourned for 6 months after my husband passed away. It broke my heart every time I heard her. That was almost 4 years ago and she still calls for him. I have 2 other cats but she still misses her "nap buddy". Still breaks my heart.
Yeah this one time we went on vacation and left our cat with my grandmother. When. We got home she was so heartbroken she wouldn't come close to us. She would stare at the wall not coming to bed completely isolated herself for a long while. 😢 We never did it again

I had the same thing happen and I felt so bad. At first I thought maybe my cats were doing that as if to say, "I'm mad at you for leaving me and don't want to be around you right now." In the end I chalked it up to a little anger, but mostly confusion on their part. Not having you around for a few days and missing you and then suddenly you return I think disrupts their already somewhat fragile routine and they may not know how to deal with it right away. It was 3 days before one of my cats came out and gave me affection and then shortly after the other one came around. And oh boy once they came to me and the affection came out, it was like this overwhelming urge to rub all over me, head butt me and wanting to be petted. Their little motors were a running as the purring was much louder and more intense than usual!
@Jasmine D.B. I just posted my comment saying the same thing before seeing yours. This poor kitty saw his owner going out with the dog and was left behind. He not only missed his owner but didn’t understand why he was left behind; he was hurt.
That poor kitty watched the locked door and was cry-talking to it until mommy came back. 😰 Kitty (Puppy) was happily relieved upon mommy's return! ☺️ So was I! ☺️ Animal owners can learn from this. Thank you for sharing! ☺️
My cats looked up out of concern. I had to show them that I was watching a video. They laid back down and went to sleep. hahaha Very remarkable how they understand so much more than I realized!
I remember watching a video of crying baby kittens(for food)and my cat freaked out and actually tried to look for it XD (she is a mother herself so I can see why)
Thanks for sharing this and yes I teared up. I’m getting my first ‘indoor’ cat in a few weeks. I’m British and our cats are rarely kept solely indoors, they are pretty much free to roam. It’s videos like this that are educating me. Peace and love from England 🏴
When leaving, tell your cat “it’s ok, I’ll be back soon.” Make sure to use the same phrase each time. After a while, they will associate that phrase will you leaving. And because you use it all the time, it doesn’t take them by surprise as much, and they relate that, not only to your leaving but to your coming back home, since it’s a daily ritual they grow accustomed to. It works with my kitty. Give it a try and see if it works with your cats as well.
I give my 2 new cats treats just before I leave for work. I hide them all over the room so they're occupied finding the treats and they don't notice when I'm going out the door.
I use "mommy's gotta go to work" and I repeat it gently, so that when she sees me get my work uniform on, she goes and curls back up in her bed. I think she sleeps when I am gone. Hopefully. lol
This is true. It may seem crazy to some, but I have entire routine before I leave my kitties alone. I’ll kiss them and say “I’ll be back soon. I love you Willa and Aspen!” It’s really helped

Poor Puppy. He is miserable. Sounds like he is saying, "Where are you," and "I love you." My cat Patty starved herself for 4 days when I was in the hospital 10 days for tests and surgery. I had to call home and have my husband put me on speaker phone, so my Patty cat could hear me. Only then would she eat. When I came home and was sleeping in a rented hospital bed, Patty refused to leave my side except to use the litter pan. Had to feed her on the bed with me.
Try giving human baby food or tuna. Sometimes they will eat that. After so many days, you should give fluids by mouth mixing food and water in a syringe and take to vet.
One of my cats stopped eating while my husband was in the hospital too. And then when he got home she went upstairs after him and then came back down to the kitchen and started eating. I was so surprised and I asked him if he had told her to go eat and he said 'no she just smelled my feet'. But she had made herself quite ill already with the not eating so she had to spend a few days in hospital herself. Her mom and sister didn't give a flip. Lol
To be honest, I used to believe that cats didn't give a shit about anyone or anything but themselves. Then 6 years ago, I adopted a stray 4 week old baby Bombay kitten that was abandoned by his mother and he was looking for food. I didn't have cat food to give him, so I gave the little shit some of my dogs wet food and water. A couple minutes later, he was laying in my lap, and his purr motor was going full spin. He ended up imprinting onto me, and 6 years later Mikah still follows me everywhere I go, and still thinks of me as his cat dad. But when I leave the house to go to work, I can hear him calling for me out the balcony window, and he probably does this at random.intervals through the day, I have no doubt it pisses my neighbors off. But when I come home, he's standing right at the door, or sitting on the corner table waiting for me, then, he jumps.right into my arms and starts head bunting and licking my face. So for the people that say cats don't love their humans, you're delusional
jazzykat I’ve never had a cat that was heartless. If you take care of them properly and love them they will love you too. I’ve had six cats and yes their personalities were different but they each had their own way of expressing their love. My cat Robin died a couple months ago but he would always snuggle when anyone was on the couch. In the mornings he was the most affectionate, he would come running into my room meowing and jump on bed and head bunted me til I woke and then snuggled in by my neck. His brother Batman (still currently alive) is just as affectionate as Robin, the only difference is that Batman puts his paw on my eye and holds it there til I wake up and then he meows to me and basically has a conversation with me because I talk to him and he meows in reply. Batman will also drag his favorite toys to me, sometimes to play and sometimes not. Sometimes he is just sharing. Batman is loudest cat though, weighing about 18 lbs he makes so much noise when he runs 😂 and he has a very loud purr. He also meows when we aren’t home both Batman and Robin always did this as soon as we shut the door. So it really isn’t hard to find cats that show they care, it’s about how you treat them. It’s kinda like raising a kid. You raise them how you want them to be. If your constantly rude to your cat or did something that traumatizes it, then they aren’t going to trust you.

If he was an adult cat, I'd still try to adopt him, but if he didn't want to come in or didn't want anything to do with me, then I would've had an outdoor cat. But luckly, I didn't have to worry about that. But yeah I wouldn't trade my little shit head for the world, no matter how annoying he is.
As long as you don't have neighbors with dogs. We used to walk our cat but one of the neighbors dogs went crazy when he saw her and I was scared to ever do it again. We built her a catio instead.

I played this around my cat and he looked everywhere to see where the crying was coming from. When he finally found out it was from my phone, he rubbed up against the phone feeling bad for this cat.
I went out of town for the weekend and had a friend look in on my cat every day, but when I got home my kitty ignored me. She finally sat on my lap if there was a pillow on it, but she bit me if I tried to pet her. Cats are the best!

This is the way my Milly would meow when I was on my computer in the office for too long. She'd walk through the apartment meowing like this with her favorite toy in her mouoth and drop it at my office door. This makes me cry. (She passed in 2011, dragging herself to my office door after she suddenly went lame.)
My cat gets depressed when I don't come home early for several days in a row.. So much that on my day off he spends the day laying on my neck booping me with his nose and Grooming me❤️❤️❤️ he's my whole world
Indeed, I have a cat that's 16 now and 3 years ago the other cats in the garden sadly passed away. This was the first time she was truly alone, she almost let herself go from what we understood to be depression. We got 2 new cats and now she's still thriving and super active!!

Played this in bed, my cat downstairs. She ran upstairs after hearing the howling of the cat on video, looking very wide eyed, and jumped on my bed staring at me. Can’t help wondering if she thought it was me in distress. She certainly displayed signs of empathy
My cats showed me more empathy than any human ever would. When I had motorcycle accident and came home my cat wasn't leaving my side for months. She would leav just to eat and go to the toilet. My mother wans't spending nearly as much time with me as my cat did back then even if my mother is one of the best in the world. My mom was also constantly with me but cat....she was really not moving from me. Never saw such bond with human being. Truth is humans need to work but that cat spent every free moment with me and she loved to be outside (no roads, no hazards, it was beautiful neighborhood). WHen she died in 2011 I was devastated as she was with me since 1992 when I saved her from the street while she was kitten. I still miss hear so much. She was almost 20 year old when she passed away. She was my little angel. Her name was Miki. WHen I was kid she used to steal my toy soldiers and other toys and run outside waiting for me to chase her. I had great childhood and she was best part of it.

I made a trip to the local pound, and someone had abandoned a beautiful, snow white, sapphire blue eyed pregnant kitty. Her personality was apparent the moment I noticed her, and my decision was easy. We bonded immediately, she slept on my bed, and she talked to me nonstop. When she heard the car drive up, she'd be sitting by the door waiting for me. One night around 2am, she was standing next to my bed and practically screaming at me... I looked at her and asked what was wrong, and she would run halfway down the hall, then turn around to see if I was following. I finally got the hint, and followed her into the living room, where she immediately went into the nest I had made for her. I sat next to her, talking to her and keeping her calm while she delivered 5 gorgeous little bundles of fur... 4 jet black (all male) and sweet little calico girl. When she was finished doing her mom thing, she brought each one out to me to see and hold...I must have imprinted them, they thought I was the daddy hehe As the weeks and months went by, they too would line up at the door when they heard the car. As I walked in, Snowball (the mom) would sit and watch proudly as the kids all greeted me, meowing and begging to be held, except for the calico...she would immediately start climbing up my trouser leg. More than "pets" indeed.

When I came home from surgery I was bed ridden and very sick. Spooky my cat would not leave my side. I couldn't do anything but lay in bed. I was up all night with a racking cough and by morning she still wouldn't leave to eat or drink. A friend came over and brought up her food and water and litter box to my room . She would only eat a little then go back to purring at my head. She always made contact with me physically and only left to drink ect. When I got up to use the bathroom. She stayed in my room the whole 2 weeks I was up there. She would lick my arm when she was washing herself and then lick my hand. When I was able to move around a little she would follow me everywhere just like before. I love her so much she is so loyal and loving.

Charley Billyk my mom’s cat is the same way when my mom is sick. And when my mom went to be with her sister for a couple of weeks because my aunt was sick she was upset and don’t want my mom near. She made sure to let my mom know that she was upset lol
I had a similar experience with my cat 8 years ago. We have new cats now, but my 1 cat was special. I miss his Zen Buddhist like purr, steady hum, like beta brain waves that soothe the brain & soul.

I have multiple, chronic health issues & there are many days where I’m in the bed. One of my cats will come & lay down beside me when I feel horrible. She will leave to eat, drink, etc but she will come check on me every hour or two, if she’s not laying by me. I also set an alarm to make sure I remember to open the garage door for my children when they get off the bus from school. My cat will come & make sure I’m moving towards the door when she hears the alarm go off.

Body language and tone of voice both are sad. I had a cat who started yowling fir me during a certain time when I was home. I spent a lot of time with her and hated having to put her down when she could not use her kidneys any more. I hated that.

I had the same thing happen and I felt so bad. At first I thought maybe my cats were doing that as if to say, "I'm mad at you for leaving me and don't want to be around you right now." In the end I chalked it up to a little anger, but mostly confusion on their part. Not having you around for a few days and missing you and then suddenly you return I think disrupts their already somewhat fragile routine and they may not know how to deal with it right away. It was 3 days before one of my cats came out and gave me affection and then shortly after the other one came around. And oh boy once they came to me and the affection came out, it was like this overwhelming urge to rub all over me, head butt me and wanting to be petted. Their little motors were a running as the purring was much louder and more intense than usual!

It works with my kitty. Give it a try and see if it works with your cats as well.
I give my 2 new cats treats just before I leave for work. I hide them all over the room so they're occupied finding the treats and they don't notice when I'm going out the door.
I use "mommy's gotta go to work" and I repeat it gently, so that when she sees me get my work uniform on, she goes and curls back up in her bed. I think she sleeps when I am gone. Hopefully. lol

Poor Puppy. He is miserable. Sounds like he is saying, "Where are you," and "I love you." My cat Patty starved herself for 4 days when I was in the hospital 10 days for tests and surgery. I had to call home and have my husband put me on speaker phone, so my Patty cat could hear me. Only then would she eat. When I came home and was sleeping in a rented hospital bed, Patty refused to leave my side except to use the litter pan. Had to feed her on the bed with me.

My cats does the same when I was gone for 3days vacation. They only eat when I got home.
One of my cats stopped eating while my husband was in the hospital too. And then when he got home she went upstairs after him and then came back down to the kitchen and started eating. I was so surprised and I asked him if he had told her to go eat and he said 'no she just smelled my feet'. But she had made herself quite ill already with the not eating so she had to spend a few days in hospital herself. Her mom and sister didn't give a flip. Lol
To be honest, I used to believe that cats didn't give a shit about anyone or anything but themselves. Then 6 years ago, I adopted a stray 4 week old baby Bombay kitten that was abandoned by his mother and he was looking for food. I didn't have cat food to give him, so I gave the little shit some of my dogs wet food and water. A couple minutes later, he was laying in my lap, and his purr motor was going full spin. He ended up imprinting onto me, and 6 years later Mikah still follows me everywhere I go, and still thinks of me as his cat dad. But when I leave the house to go to work, I can hear him calling for me out the balcony window, and he probably does this at random.intervals through the day, I have no doubt it pisses my neighbors off. But when I come home, he's standing right at the door, or sitting on the corner table waiting for me, then, he jumps.right into my arms and starts head bunting and licking my face. So for the people that say cats don't love their humans, you're delusional

jazzykat I’ve never had a cat that was heartless. If you take care of them properly and love them they will love you too. I’ve had six cats and yes their personalities were different but they each had their own way of expressing their love. My cat Robin died a couple months ago but he would always snuggle when anyone was on the couch. In the mornings he was the most affectionate, he would come running into my room meowing and jump on bed and head bunted me til I woke and then snuggled in by my neck. His brother Batman (still currently alive) is just as affectionate as Robin, the only difference is that Batman puts his paw on my eye and holds it there til I wake up and then he meows to me and basically has a conversation with me because I talk to him and he meows in reply. Batman will also drag his favorite toys to me, sometimes to play and sometimes not. Sometimes he is just sharing. Batman is loudest cat though, weighing about 18 lbs he makes so much noise when he runs 😂 and he has a very loud purr. He also meows when we aren’t home both Batman and Robin always did this as soon as we shut the door. So it really isn’t hard to find cats that show they care, it’s about how you treat them. It’s kinda like raising a kid. You raise them how you want them to be. If your constantly rude to your cat or did something that traumatizes it, then they aren’t going to trust you.

If he was an adult cat, I'd still try to adopt him, but if he didn't want to come in or didn't want anything to do with me, then I would've had an outdoor cat. This is the way my Milly would meow when I was on my computer in the office for too long. She'd walk through the apartment meowing like this with her favorite toy in her mouoth and drop it at my office door.
This makes me cry. (She passed in 2011, dragging herself to my office door after she suddenly went lame.)

My cat gets depressed when I don't come home early for several days in a row.. So much that on my day off he spends the day laying on my neck booping me with his nose and Grooming me❤️❤️❤️ he's my whole world

Indeed, I have a cat that's 16 now and 3 years ago the other cats in the garden sadly passed away. This was the first time she was truly alone, she almost let herself go from what we understood to be depression. We got 2 new cats and now she's still thriving and super active!!

Played this in bed, my cat downstairs. She ran upstairs after hearing the howling of the cat on video, looking very wide eyed, and jumped on my bed staring at me. Can’t help wondering if she thought it was me in distress. She certainly displayed signs of empathy
My cats showed me more empathy than any human ever would. When I had motorcycle accident and came home my cat wasn't leaving my side for months. She would leav just to eat and go to the toilet. My mother wans't spending nearly as much time with me as my cat did back then even if my mother is one of the best in the world. My mom was also constantly with me but cat....she was really not moving from me. Never saw such bond with human being. Truth is humans need to work but that cat spent every free moment with me and she loved to be outside (no roads, no hazards, it was beautiful neighborhood). WHen she died in 2011 I was devastated as she was with me since 1992 when I saved her from the street while she was kitten. I still miss hear so much. She was almost 20 year old when she passed away. She was my little angel. Her name was Miki. WHen I was kid she used to steal my toy soldiers and other toys and run outside waiting for me to chase her. I had great childhood and she was best part of it.
