This is one of the best practical use cases I can think of in working on animal communication. To have a pet be able to tell you where and how it hurts, with accuracy, is a quantum leap in animal healthcare. I'm also terrified of the prospect of teaching my cats these kinds of buttons, as my mind grapples with the eventuality of explaining to a pet things that might not be fixable.
This can be hard at times. I know I am part of a button using group and explaining things like the death of another pet in the house can be hard. The to have the opportunity to try and explain and comfort far outweighs the thought of them suffering without being able to ask or tell you.

The cat doesn't really understand the meaning of the words. He just analyzes action -> reaction and decides based on that. For example, in this video for all we know "back" + "look" means the human will come and pet the cat. The fact that we humans hear something else doesn't mean the cat registers it, more so when the human actually does something different that what the buttons says (he pets instead of looking)
I love the way Todd rubs up against Dad after Dad uses the buttons to say, "Todd back ouch, huh?" I think Todd was saying, "I'm really glad that you understand me, Dad." 🥰
I have never know Todd not to be loving. Even when he is not happy about something he is the sweetest. One time he was frustrated and he told me Want Dad No then came over to give me a hug like "I'm sorry you had to hear that, it's okay." Lol

What would be amazing, is if Todd told you on behalf of Glamour and Paulie, if something specific was ever wrong with them also, as the feline family branch's spokescat :) Their being indoor kitties, with no predator danger or food hunting priority, we wonder whether this leaves room for developing other skills a bit more. It was interesting to learn from another recent posting that Todd became a different and happier cat once it was known he personally thrived with a lot of extra affection and cuddles and could express himself via the buttons. Never heard of these buttons before but seen way too much intelligence shown since watching your videos to be sceptical now. You are giving Todd the ability to be able to experience the heights of his potential in this incarnation and live his very best life. My wife has to chase a few cats away from our first little garden due to their trying to stalk small birds. She's learnt that alarm the Crows, Magpies, Robin and Blackbird all do, and goes outside to do her part to ensure that when the alarm is sounded, she'll assist and go scare off that darned cat. This happened last week and it all then went quiet for about 10 minutes and then happy little cheeps and tweets all started. Cat definitely gone then. Most homes around us have a cat or dog. We don't, so deem ours to be a safe sanctuary and a birdie jardin for the small and medium birds. So it's especially nice to see your videos of the other side of cats, and Todd's kitty development via the buttons. There are stranger things than dreamt of in our reality, for sure. What a wonderful video! How old is Todd and how old was he when he learned how to "talk" to you using the Talking Buttons? I adopted a stray that looked pretty young, but she had kittens. She would come around for food, but not to socialize. She would growl, hiss and keep a safe distance. I decided to sit out, with my back to the food bowl. One day she decided to sniff me, then gradually she allowed me to touch, then pet her. It took a week of constant being there at food time. Though she never brought them around, you could tell she was a nursing mother. When they were weaned, she decided that it was ok to inspect our house I guess, because as I opened the door to go inside, she followed me in like she lived there. She sniffed around and each time she came in she would venture further into the house. We had her spayed and she has been with us for over 1 year now. She follows me EVERYWHERE in the house. I would love to know what she has to say.

I dont think people who aren't cat people understand that you need to TALK to cats. They respond to voice and tone just like a dog does, and they know we are communicatung to them - it's just a foreign language basically.
The neighborhood cat always ignored anything i said so i started just blinking and talking through mind signals hoping i can eventually communicate w the cat telepathically

I have some large fish shaped treats that we call "Fishy Whales" I only have to say "who wants a Fishy Whale" and no matter where my Giuseppe Puss is located in the house he suddenly appears like a rocket, Thats how much he likes his Fishy Whales! Its a pity Glamour doesn't like the treats.
You've probably tried this, but sometimes things need trying twice with cats - break off a tiny piece for her? My cat is surprisingly awkward with larger treats even if she wants it. Like those pill pockets, she tried putting it in her mouth and it kept falling out as she manipulated it in her mouth. Even though she had had them before whole. Finally, since the pill was quite small, I was able to break off a tiny bit and mold it around the tiny pill. We're talking a third of the pill pocket.
I love the way Todd looks back up at you, he really is in proper communication with you. He's so smart, I hope he can tell you if he has any hurts or ouches. Does he need more buttons to connect some of his buttons so he can express more thoughts and needs? Do Paulie and Glamour also use buttons? They are all so cute.❤
What awes me is that not only does Todd know Glamour is hurting, but specifically which body part. I wonder if he came to that conclusion based on Glamour’s movements. The other thing that awes me is his compassion, enough to ask for help for him.
For Todd, having his "Dad" stroke his fur and pay careful Attention to what might hurt is about like a human person taking aspirin - unlikely to hurt, and possibly a Help. (For Glamour, well let us Just Say that she {generally speaking} would have a Bad reaction, to the Exact Same "Treatment.")

Yes, and this is why I wanted them to use the buttons. Todd has a chronic condition where he can get very sick very fast and I wanted him to be able to tell me as soon as he starts feeling bad
I know I say this every single comment but I honestly think that the more people see and watch yTodd Glamour and their hooman (LOL you) I think the love you show Todd and Glamour comes through the videos and hits our hearts!! Stand your ground Glamour! There are several food groups that I have never cared for. Fish and cheese. It gets annoying when you say "no thank you" and people try and convince you to eat it any way because it's "really good". Love the way she totally turned her back on the third offer. No word buttons needed for that message.
I've wanted to get my 2 cats these, especially my Tabby, Bobo. They recognize words, but he goes on what I've dubbed "Meow Parades." He clearly wants to hear him. I adopted him and my small tortie from the rescue shelter, and both came from bad situations. Bobo demonstrates anxiety at certain times and I hate to think of whatever he had to deal with. They're both thoroughly spoiled and loved here, but Bobo still has gone through anxious moments. I thought something like this might help him communicate what he needs, but I'm not sure how to train him.
Far too ground concentrated for the cat to recognise real information patterns. Double the separation and double the time invested. Cat seems the smarter one here.
I just love the love and trust going on here, both ways. Dad trusts Todd to tell him when something is up & Todd trusts Dad to understand, most of the time. Sometimes Todd simply does not have the words for what is going on but he will get them.
It amazes me that Todd tells Dad when he (or his siblings) hurts. I'm new to your channel and I wish I had known about these buttons when my Lucy Furr was alive. I had her from the day after she was born - her momma was a stray and she wandered into my home and brought her babies, 1 by 1, in as it was mid-October and getting quite cold (I live in central Alberta). As soon as the kittens were allowed by Mom to roam outside of her reach, Lucy became my constant companion and stayed that way for 15 years. She looked at me the way Todd looks at you. I know she loved me but to give them the ability to tell you? Amazing~!!! If I ever get to a point that I can think of having a cat again (it's been 2 years), I am going to try the buttons. Thank you for the videos, for taking care of your furbabies and for showing us it is more than possible to communicate with them. Keep it up, Dad 😊😊

I'm afraid my boys are going to ouch their shoulders the way they leap down from high places! Especially the orange boy, Ginger Ninja. Actually, I think I should change his name to Ginger Sumo Wrestler, if you know what I mean. He was s healthy 10lbs when I brought him inside after he had been hanging around on my windowsills (and spraying through the screens because he was an intact tom). He's FIV+ or I would have released him back to his happy free lifestyle. Now he's inside, never has to fight, and has more food than he needs, so he's chonked up quite a bit. I wouldn't over feed him intentionally, but my other boy was starving when he came in some months before Ginger. He should have been 14lbs but was only 10lbs. Different sized kitties. And after learning that there was always plenty and he didn't have to scarf his food, he became a natural grazer. Only problem is, now that Ginger is here, I have to work to make sure one gets enough and the other doesn't steal his food. I haven't been successful. I try, though. I worry about the extra weight on Ginger because of the FIV especially, but also because of the stress on his joints. He and Ombre were buddies on the streets and Ombre was lonely without him inside, so I want to keep Ginger alive and healthy as long as possible. P.S. editing to add that it took me a while to figure out that Ombre wanted Ginger to move in. Buttons might have helped!

He's been hanging around here, and seemed to be a healthy weight, but I didn't see him for about a week, and not up close for a few weeks. Today he came out from under a bush where he must have gone to try to stay cool. I was coming back from taking the trash to the dumpster. He followed me to my stoop, and I checked him over. He's severely underweight 😭 I wish I could bring him in, too. I'm heartbroken 💔🐾 I gave him water and some kibble, but I'm at my budget limit with the 2 who are here. I'm asking for prayer for him. He's a black and white tuxedo. His human was looking for him, I don't think he's chipped, I just pray that they're reunited, or if she's not able to be found, that he finds a new home. He just wants to live with humans who love him. He's a snuggle bug.
To be honest I don’t know what if any breed Todd is. Todd adopted us (yes, really, if anyone wants to hear that story let me know) from a wonderful no-kill shelter and was about 3 months old when he came home with us. I was told he came from another shelter that called the League because they had cats whose time was almost up and who were about to be euthanized. Todd was part of the group the league rescued from that shelter. The league didn’t have much info on Todd or how he came to be at the first shelter. I have never had a DNA test run on him.
My late Burmese, Cora, was very constipated at one stage. She had some verbal speech ability but obviously did not know to say that word! So I saw she was poorly by the way she was acting, and I said “are you all right?” She said “no”. I said “what’s wrong, are you in pain?” “Yes”. I then said that when I was in pain (I have IBS and ulcers) I take CBD pills. Cora said “want! Now!” I did not have them to hand. So we called in someone who was helping to look after the other cats that belonged to a friend who was away that week, and gave Cora coconut oil, which sorted her constipation. She lived a further 6 months before dying peacefully from heart failure, aged 20. I was SO fortunate to have had her. 😿❤️
We have 3 cats, Todd, Glamour, and Paulie. Neither Glamour nor Paulie has shown any interest in learning to use the buttons. Both Glamour and Paulie will recognize when Todd pushes certain buttons for toys and come to join in. Todd is very sweet and sometimes he knows that Glamour wants to play and will go and push the Bird Toy or Laser Mouse button (the two toys Glamour likes) and just sit back and watch her and let her play without joining in. I have offered in the past and continue to offer the buttons to them but they want nothing to do with it.
Todd is so pawsome & extremely clever. I hope he is ok & wish him safe, happy & healthy days ahead. My Zinnie Kitty is 15yrs old & has arthritis & trouble with his bowels. 🐈 I wish he was able to tell me when he is in pain or having trouble or even just tell me he wants to cuddle or play. I’m not sure he would be interested in learning to use buttons at this stage of his life. I enjoy watching Todd. Thank you for sharing him with the world. 🐾❤️🐾

@jenniferquackenbush7458 FluentPet makes a tral kit with 1 or three buttons. That is a good start if you want to see if your cat will like it. I felt certain Todd would do it as we already communicated well before the buttons so I bought the They Can Talk kit.

Generally not with just one. He did stretch out the left, which was what was tender. I am still watching him, and he has been acting normal all day and not complaining or sating he ouches when asked.
I’d never had a cat. My daughter had to leave her cat with me due to a fiancé being jealous of the cat and being cruel to him. It took some adjustment on my part but he’s a lovely little cat, and very affectionate. He is now sharing the space with a GSD puppy. I would like to get some buttons to see what they would both have to say. Todd is beautiful and very clever, and the owner has a lovely way with them. ❤

Wonderful! I got the buttons for our cats but we are so thoroughly twisted around their paws there was *nothing* left for them to tell us. LOL Todd is such a beautiful boy and so intelligent! I love the interaction between the two of you.

Yes, and this is why I wanted them to use the buttons. Todd has a chronic condition where he can get very sick very fast and I wanted him to be able to tell me as soon as he starts feeling bad
I know I say this every single comment but I honestly think that the more people see and watch yTodd Glamour and their hooman (LOL you) I think the love you show Todd and Glamour comes through the videos and hits our hearts!! Hopefully that makes other people feel the same way!! Especially men/“guys” . The ones who think some sort of way by showing a sensitive side. I thought I replied to this so if this is a duplicate I'm sorry. Todd was right. The vet found Glamour's back was swollen and inflamed. She has meds now that are helping her.
Stand your ground Glamour! There are several food groups that I have never cared for. Fish and cheese. It gets annoying when you say "no thank you" and people try and convince you to eat it any way because it's "really good". Love the way she totally turned her back on the third offer. No word buttons needed for that message.

I've wanted to get my 2 cats these, especially my Tabby, Bobo. They recognize words, but he goes on what I've dubbed "Meow Parades."
He clearly wants to hear him. I adopted him and my small tortie from the rescue shelter, and both came from bad situations.
Bobo demonstrates anxiety at certain times and I hate to think of whatever he had to deal with.
They're both thoroughly spoiled and loved here, but Bobo still has gone through anxious moments.
I thought something like this might help him communicate what he needs, but I'm not sure how to train him.

I just love the love and trust going on here, both ways. Dad trusts Todd to tell him when something is up & Todd trusts Dad to understand, most of the time. Sometimes Todd simply does not have the words for what is going on but he will get them.

It amazes me that Todd tells Dad when he (or his siblings) hurts. I'm new to your channel and I wish I had known about these buttons when my Lucy Furr was alive. I had her from the day after she was born - her momma was a stray and she wandered into my home and brought her babies, 1 by 1, in as it was mid-October and getting quite cold (I live in central Alberta). As soon as the kittens were allowed by Mom to roam outside of her reach, Lucy became my constant companion and stayed that way for 15 years. She looked at me the way Todd looks at you. I know she loved me but to give them the ability to tell you? Amazing~!!! If I ever get to a point that I can think of having a cat again (it's been 2 years), I am going to try the buttons.

Very true, he seem fine now and told me his back ouch was happy now.
I'm afraid my boys are going to ouch their shoulders the way they leap down from high places! Especially the orange boy, Ginger Ninja. Actually, I think I should change his name to Ginger Sumo Wrestler, if you know what I mean. He was s healthy 10lbs when I brought him inside after he had been hanging around on my windowsills (and spraying through the screens because he was an intact tom). He's FIV+ or I would have released him back to his happy free lifestyle. Now he's inside, never has to fight, and has more food than he needs, so he's chonked up quite a bit. I wouldn't over feed him intentionally, but my other boy was starving when he came in some months before Ginger. He should have been 14lbs but was only 10lbs. Different sized kitties. And after learning that there was always plenty and he didn't have to scarf his food, he became a natural grazer. Only problem is, now that Ginger is here, I have to work to make sure one gets enough and the other doesn't steal his food. I haven't been successful. I try, though. I worry about the extra weight on Ginger because of the FIV especially, but also because of the stress on his joints. He and Ombre were buddies on the streets and Ombre was lonely without him inside, so I want to keep Ginger alive and healthy as long as possible. P.S. editing to add that it took me a while to figure out that Ombre wanted Ginger to move in. Buttons might have helped!

He's been hanging around here, and seemed to be a healthy weight, but I didn't see him for about a week, and not up close for a few weeks. Today he came out from under a bush where he must have gone to try to stay cool. I was coming back from taking the trash to the dumpster. He followed me to my stoop, and I checked him over. He's severely underweight 😭 I wish I could bring him in, too. I'm heartbroken 💔🐾 I gave him water and some kibble, but I'm at my budget limit with the 2 who are here. I'm asking for prayer for him. He's a black and white tuxedo. His human was looking for him, I don't think he's chipped, I just pray that they're reunited, or if she's not able to be found, that he finds a new home. He just wants to live with humans who love him. He's a snuggle bug.

What a lovable cat! What breed is Todd?
To be honest I don’t know what if any breed Todd is. Todd adopted us (yes, really, if anyone wants to hear that story let me know) from a wonderful no-kill shelter and was about 3 months old when he came home with us. I was told he came from another shelter that called the League because they had cats whose time was almost up and who were about to be euthanized. Todd was part of the group the league rescued from that shelter. The league didn’t have much info on Todd or how he came to be at the first shelter. I have never had a DNA test run on him.

My late Burmese, Cora, was very constipated at one stage. She had some verbal speech ability but obviously did not know to say that word! So I saw she was poorly by the way she was acting, and I said “are you all right?” She said “no”. I said “what’s wrong, are you in pain?” “Yes”. I then said that when I was in pain (I have IBS and ulcers) I take CBD pills. Cora said “want! Now!” I did not have them to hand. So we called in someone who was helping to look after the other cats that belonged to a friend who was away that week, and gave Cora coconut oil, which sorted her constipation. She lived a further 6 months before dying peacefully from heart failure, aged 20. I was SO fortunate to have had her. 😿❤️

We have 3 cats, Todd, Glamour, and Paulie. Neither Glamour nor Paulie has shown any interest in learning to use the buttons. Both Glamour and Paulie will recognize when Todd pushes certain buttons for toys and come to join in. Todd is very sweet and sometimes he knows that Glamour wants to play and will go and push the Bird Toy or Laser Mouse button (the two toys Glamour likes) and just sit back and watch her and let her play without joining in. I have offered in the past and continue to offer the buttons to them but they want nothing to do with it.

Todd is so pawsome & extremely clever. I hope he is ok & wish him safe, happy & healthy days ahead. My Zinnie Kitty is 15yrs old & has arthritis & trouble with his bowels. 🐈 I wish he was able to tell me when he is in pain or having trouble or even just tell me he wants to cuddle or play. I’m not sure he would be interested in learning to use buttons at this stage of his life. I enjoy watching Todd. Thank you for sharing him with the world. 🐾❤️🐾
I don't thonkbitbis so much age as if the cat wants to do it. The cat that inspired me to do this with Todd was 12 when she started.

@jenniferquackenbush7458 FluentPet makes a tral kit with 1 or three buttons. That is a good start if you want to see if your cat will like it. I felt certain Todd would do it as we already communicated well before the buttons so I bought the They Can Talk kit.
@@gatroy3866 I will try that. We communicate well. I ask him to do things & he responds, so maybe he would take to it. We talk to eachother a lot. We are in tune with each other’s body language as well. 😊

Generally not with just one. He did stretch out the left, which was what was tender. I am still watching him, and he has been acting normal all day and not complaining or sating he ouches when asked.

I’d never had a cat. My daughter had to leave her cat with me due to a fiancé being jealous of the cat and being cruel to him. It took some adjustment on my part but he’s a lovely little cat, and very affectionate. He is now sharing the space with a GSD puppy. I would like to get some buttons to see what they would both have to say.
