We had to hide our bread from a Siamese cat we once had. We learned our lesson after coming home one evening and finding the bread on the table chewed up. Our cat had chewed right through the bag.
I'm so glad I have a cat that (mostly) sleeps through the night. When I go to sleep she falls asleep on my lap or shoulder and she stays there until it's time to wake up. The only downside is that I don't get to move in my sleep. 8 years sleeping in 1 position.
I'm using my husband's phone but he has the same problem lol. Our cat sleeps between his legs all night. He sleeps on top of the covers in fleece pj's and the cat just likes to sleep between his knees with his head at my husband's feet. 😂 my husband says he can't move all night either lol
In the winter, Nina sleeps at/between my feet on top of the comforter. Rolling over is a complicated dance of moving my feet, rolling over, and re-sliding my feet into the position for her to be comfortable. Did I mention that she’s 16 pounds with big feet? Yeah, not small.

I've had them both go numb, and my knees and hips hurt from staying in 1 position for so long! Sometimes she wants under the covers but she doesn't want the covers touching her so I have to make a cat cave with a propped up knee (all goes well until I start drifting off to sleep). I keep thinking about making a pvc frame to put under the covers for a more permanent cat cave!

I feel bad for the first cat. Anyone with the problem of their cat not letting them sleep through the night should search out the info from Jackson Galaxy. My first thought is that the kibble is causing excessive hunger and contributing to the issues. Kibble is high in carbs, too low in protein and doesn't contain enough moisture, which is bad for cats. Our cat vet says cats should eat species appropriate food, meaning low carb canned cat food. It's closer to their natural prey. It's better for several reasons. The water content is high so it helps keep the cat hydrated and the urinary tract happy. This may also help the kidneys. The higher protein helps the cat maintain muscle health. It probably helps the cat feel fuller too. Cats transitioned to canned food will usually lose fat and gain muscle. The lower carbohydrate content will help prevent the cat from wearing out the pancreas and will prevent diabetes. Any snacks should also be meat based. You want to have a good play session before bedtime then feed the cat the appropriate weighed out amount of canned food. I would bet they the cat's nighttime behavior would improve if these changes were made.
Yes...Jackson Galaxy is such an encyclopedia of helpful cat care info! Most cat food was created to make money and be convenient--health doesn't figure into it.
Cats are nocturnal, and they like to play and snuggle during the night. Some cats are more needy than others. Just because he’s constantly pestering them at night does not mean there is an issue. That being said, there could be an issue, but it’s hard to say from a video. A lot of times they just aren’t getting enough enrichment during the day. My cats are constantly visiting me several times a night just for pets. As far as cat food goes though, yes, most cat food is crap. I feed my cats. A brand of kibble called Carni4, as it is very minimal and ingredients and has zero synthetics. The wet food I feed them is called Koha. It also has very minimal stuff like potato and what not and has zeros synthetics. Cat food that doesn’t have synthetics is Orijen, but it has a lot of other crap in it. It is still better than all the other foods besides Carni4. Both of those dry foods are expensive. They are about $10 a pound, but it’s worth it to keep your cats healthier.

But for years I didn't understand that dry food containing grain products is really detrimental for their health - given their GI system didn't evolve to digest them. I am currently feeding wet food only to a wonderful stray cat, but don't know if grain-free kibble is alright for them.

I once went through a depression so bad I was nearly catatonic. On my own it was almost impossible to get out of bed. But the sound of my cat's meows would make me get up instantly no matter how exhausted. Although I'm child free (too disabled to have children) I have a strong maternal instinct. I loved that cat so much. I would sing to him and he loved it, he would stretch out his little paw and stare at me with complete adoration. He was my lifeline, he kept me on Earth... Rest in Peace, Helo! I love you! Every time I think about him I cry. Sniffle.

One stormy night my cat brought me quite a few gifts at once. He woke me up and I went to go take a leak. My carpet was sopping wet. So I turned on the light... he must have been at it for 4 or 5 hours because thousands of earthworms covered my carpet.
Our boy Taika sleeps between my legs all night until 5:30 when my husband gets up for work. Every morning whether he works or not he wakes us up with some head bumps on our chins, then if husband is not waking up he will go back to sleep until we wake up.
Re: the first cat - I would have kicked her out of the bedroom a loooong time ago. I love my cats, but if I can't sleep, I can't function. These people are insanely patient! Also, don't make the mistake of feeding your cats first thing when you wake up!! They need to get used to you starting your day and later getting their food.
Cats are obligate carnivores so normally they are NOT attracted to bread unless they develop a texture preference OR they are being starved. My recently deceased cat was stealing bread before she was rescued because she was being starved and ab*sed. Also, no particular pet food brand vs another will stop food stealing if it has become a learned obsessive-compulsive disorder. ( retired DVM here)

Chupie's bread obsession is comedy gold. Cat's are such wonderfully weird creatures. If a person was this strange they would probably end up being institutionalized. But the bread toys are probably better for him, given cat's stomachs can't handle grain products very well.
The first one reminds me of my cat Phoenix. If he sleeps in my room and wants me to wake up, he just jumps on a shelf and starts knocking things off. A cat who recycles...that's a classic. That was such a great idea. Seeing him interact with the other animals was interesting. He's definitely a unique boy. He brought Simone a gift and she wasn't there. His meows were so heartbreaking but I couldn't help but giggle. He is just too cute. Food thief! So fun. Chupie is quite resourceful when it comes to getting food.
My wife and adopted three brother cats. Two are litter mates and one is a year younger but of the same stock (they were all kittens from a cat colony we feed). They play with each other and do zoomies among themselves half the night. Then when they are exhausted they come to bed with us. Now that's how to get some sleep.

you need play with her and take her though her paces, she looks like an energetic cat, which means you need to deflate that baloon, play with her and get all the energy out, do this before going to bed, spend 30-45 minutes doing that, she will be too tired to bother you, she will go to sleep as well.
My cats would do this, to the point where my wife and I couldn’t get a restful night of sleep. It was driving us a bit mad, so we didn’t really have a choice but to put them in a separate room at night. It was a bit sad and took a little adjusting at first, but it really ended up being a game changer in the long run.
Our Mojo is obsessed with my husband. He follows him wherever he goes, sits with him when he watches football, cries when he goes out and sleeps next to his head at night. He claims it bothers him, but when Mojo is missing for a couple of hours cause he’s in the garden or sleeping somewhere he goes looking for him turning on the tracker to find him. If something ever happened to him my husband would be a mess.
As much as I love my kitty with all my heart, this is why he has is own comfy bed in the office. No kitties in the bedroom at night. So cute tho, this couple is do patient.

I don't allow my cat to bite. She tried waking us up at night like in your video. It took about 6 months of Not listening, ignoring. It worked well for us. Ive had many cats in my life. All were trained and great pets.
One of my cats looks and acts just like Kitty #1. She'll swat me in the face and is so hyper it's impossible for me to trim her claws. She also will find plastic and bring it under my bed to play with as she knows the noise will make me get up.
My cat likes to sleep on top of me or the dogs, I get telt off if I dare move whilst she’s sleeping 😂 she also likes to wake me up to demand her breakfast, I live in a block of flats & my bedroom is right next to the front door, so my neighbours hear her meowing at me to get up & feed her 😂 she waves at them from the wee window at the door as they walk past to go to work/school & they’ll say good morning to her & my 2 dogs.

Point taken. However, I once gave a friend a can of Wellness (grain-free) and her cat Vader stopped trying to invade the kitchen cupboards and calmed down a little. Instead, Vader became very aware of the cupboard where she kept the Wellness cans.😉

Chupie's bread obsession is comedy gold. Cat's are such wonderfully weird creatures. If a person was this strange they would probably end up being institutionalized. But the bread toys are probably better for him, given cat's stomachs can't handle grain products very well.

The first one reminds me of my cat Phoenix. If he sleeps in my room and wants me to wake up, he just jumps on a shelf and starts knocking things off. A cat who recycles...that's a classic. That was such a great idea. Seeing him interact with the other animals was interesting. He's definitely a unique boy. He brought Simone a gift and she wasn't there. His meows were so heartbreaking but I couldn't help but giggle. He is just too cute. Food thief! So fun. Chupie is quite resourceful when it comes to getting food.

My wife and adopted three brother cats. Two are litter mates and one is a year younger but of the same stock (they were all kittens from a cat colony we feed). They play with each other and do zoomies among themselves half the night. Then when they are exhausted they come to bed with us. Now that's how to get some sleep.

you need play with her and take her though her paces, she looks like an energetic cat, which means you need to deflate that baloon, play with her and get all the energy out, do this before going to bed, spend 30-45 minutes doing that, she will be too tired to bother you, she will go to sleep as well.
I always sleep alone in my bedroom , my tomcats
are able to cope with this ( only ) rule.
My cat jumps on me every morning between 5:30 and 6 to wake me up. I never get to sleep late!
My cats would do this, to the point where my wife and I couldn’t get a restful night of sleep. It was driving us a bit mad, so we didn’t really have a choice but to put them in a separate room at night. It was a bit sad and took a little adjusting at first, but it really ended up being a game changer in the long run.
Our Mojo is obsessed with my husband. He follows him wherever he goes, sits with him when he watches football, cries when he goes out and sleeps next to his head at night. He claims it bothers him, but when Mojo is missing for a couple of hours cause he’s in the garden or sleeping somewhere he goes looking for him turning on the tracker to find him. If something ever happened to him my husband would be a mess.
Chupie doesn’t give a meow is the funniest account I’ve found he looks like he belongs to a metal rock band on tour 😂
As much as I love my kitty with all my heart, this is why he has is own comfy bed in the office. No kitties in the bedroom at night. So cute tho, this couple is do patient.

I don't allow my cat to bite. She tried waking us up at night like in your video. It took about 6 months of Not listening, ignoring. It worked well for us. Ive had many cats in my life. All were trained and great pets.
I never knew how sleep deprived I was until my last cat passed away. When I adopt again, my bedroom will be off limits.

One of my cats looks and acts just like Kitty #1. She'll swat me in the face and is so hyper it's impossible for me to trim her claws. She also will find plastic and bring it under my bed to play with as she knows the noise will make me get up.
My cat likes to sleep on top of me or the dogs, I get telt off if I dare move whilst she’s sleeping 😂 she also likes to wake me up to demand her breakfast, I live in a block of flats & my bedroom is right next to the front door, so my neighbours hear her meowing at me to get up & feed her 😂 she waves at them from the wee window at the door as they walk past to go to work/school & they’ll say good morning to her & my 2 dogs.
