*I was always a dog person. My granddaughter brought her cat to my home and it was* *game over. I now have 3 rescues and they are all my heartbeats!* 💖💖💖
My childhood cat Lisa passed away at 20 a few weeks ago. She was the most gentle cat I’ve ever met. When my mom or I played with her, she always had her claws retracted so she wouldn’t scratch us. When I was a child she allowed me to put dolls clothing on her. She would also give soft little love bites, very careful so it wouldn’t hurt. I loved her so much and I miss her terribly.
I love to watch my two cats sleeping. A warm feeling comes over me to see them so peaceful, often curled up in a ball or being big spoon and little spoon. It can be hard to resist the temptation to give them a pet or kiss. I've quietly sneaked up with my phone without disturbing them, so I can enjoy a picture of the adorable pose until they're awake later.
Once just as I was quickly extending my arm to crack a stiff elbow, my cat jumped up and I accidentally hit her face. She immediately ran away. After using the restroom I went to the other room and found her and the look of distrust on her face was something I will never forget. But I apologized as best I could and gave her a treat. I think she understood it was an accident, because she stayed with me the rest of the night, and the next day she was loving as ever and it was like it never happened.
My fucking cat pounces on me in a deep sleep and I'm Paranoid cuz we got lots of burglaries... I have woken up started yelling kicking like a human was on top of me. I can't help it I have had window broken and I scared a man away, I feel bad but if something loud or effects me I get scare. I have to find my lil cat give her treats and make her feel comfortable, I feel bad but if something hops on my bed or she breaks something I wake up yelling and walk with a big weapon clearing the house. If she stopped doing that I wouldn't be so tripped out lo.... but she still sleeps next to me most of the time
@@danf7411your cat is okay dw they are pretty sensitive but they are also smart. your cat can tell that you love her and startling her now and then at night isn’t that terrible if you treat her kindly in the rest of your time together
The first thing I did with my cat when I got her home, I basically let her be and let her warm up to me before I started interacting with her. 3 days before she trusted me to let me pet her. I have a very affectionate cat and talkative as well.
Same here. I adopted my then 8 yr old Siamese-mix girl from a good shelter. Seeming bewildered at the loss of her previous family, she hid from me for only a couple of days but soon came out to her feeding station and litter box. When we connected, her behavior made me conclude that she had never been abused. Such a polite cat, she's never clawed any furniture or jumped up to the kitchen counter. She enjoys grooming sessions, toys, scratching stations and beds around the house, but prefers to sleep with me!
@@jerushamaxwell281 I now had Marry for three months now and everything is good. She's 2 and a half year old. I also got her from a shelter. She had two previous owners which the first one gave Marry to the shelter when she was born and the second one kicked her out of the house and the picked her up off the street at five months old so she sat at the shelter till I brought her home last December. She's a good cat and I don't understand why no one brought her home. She sat in a cage for over a year. I'm so happy to save her from having to sit in a cage day in and day out watching people come and go wondering when someone will take her home. I saw her and I loved her at the first second. I promised her she would never see that cage again. I was sad hearing that she was there for a long time. I love my cat. You and I we got awesome cats.
As do I, my girlfriends sister found her living in the parking lot at the post office we took her in but took a month to finally get her to love and trust us. No more growling or hissing
@@dougbyrne8616 Marry been with me now for 7 and a half months now, my first pet, still learning, she is 2 be 3 in October. I adopted her at a rescue shelter, I am her third owner. She is good cat.
1. Do not raise your voice or make sudden loud noises before cats as their hearing is extremely sensitive. They perceive the loud person/ thing as a threat. 2. Do not tease cats - like, pulling their tail or waking them when asleep. 3. Do not declaw 4. Do not indulge in rough play 5. No harsh discipline rather use positive reinforcement 6. Care about their needs like combing them regularly or cleaning their litter box 7. Respect their territory. 8. Do not frequently interrupt their sleep as it leads to stress. 9. Do not play pranks on a cat as they feel insecure. Do not dress up a cat 10. Do not force them to interact with new pets/persons/ environments. Give them time.
And don't close the toilet lid in favor of a bowl of water, if the cat is used to drinking out of the toilet. I was a guest in a house and did that, and the cat got so miffed that it peed on the carpet in my room in retaliation!
I adopted a tiny cat from a rescue organization. She was vey fearful and aggressive. Now two years later she sits on my lap and steals my socks. She is very charming and sleeps with me at night. I feel honored to have earned her trust.
I concur .I believe it should be imperative that veterinarians refuse to declaw any cat I'm appalled at the behavior that people can do that .. It's extremely horrifying most inhuman thing ever if anyone out there is interested in a foolproof way of preventing their cat from clawing your furniture I have the answer
Declawing is a violent, invasive, painful, and unnecessary mutilation that involves 10 separate amputations-not just of cats' nails but of their joints as well. Its long-term effects include skin and bladder problems and the gradual weakening of cats' legs, shoulders, and back muscles. DONT DECLAW
Its a cold hear ted person who declaws their ca t s. What if he or she gets out of the house and see another cat they will not be able to defend them selves.
I AGREE 100% Declawing a cat IS animal cruelty. As a "pet parent" that's had both dogs and cats, I would never have a cat declawed! It takes away their way of defending themselves against predators / enemies. Fortunately, the stat I live in has banned declawing cats. Praise God! The host of the show "My cat from hell" even stated declawing cats is cruel.
@@jan091968 Cats can easily defend themselves from snakes - they are so fast. They are predators and can protect themselves with their sharp teeth. Do you mean that they should be declawed for that ?
I always had cats as a child, and one was always sleeping with me at night. I slept alone and on a cold winter night a cat was a good source of heat and they usually made their way down into the bed, keeping each other warm on a cold winter night.we did not have central heating like a furnace, just a couple wood stoves.
I dont know if this was wrong but a cat we had at our house, Princess, was a kind of left with us individual who was given the normal, for a pet in our family, the necessary care and was kind of given the freedom of the house and yard. She ingratiated herself with everyone and just fit in. I don't remember any problems with scratching or anything like that, maybe she "got it out of her system" outside but she had favorite areas where she would hang out all day it seemed. She was kind of like a harlequin around the house and was a pleasant surprise when she showed up. Never showed any aggression or violence and was a pleasant and affectionate visitor wherever she happened to be. Really a wonderful presence. At that time everybody was going indifferent directions except Mom who remarked that Princess would be around her during her daily business around the house and would particularly watch her in the kitchen from the garden wall while she did cleaning or preparing dinner. Princess was a wonderful being to be around. We all miss her.
The single most important thing you have to do in a relationship with a cat is try to understand what they want of you. When they see you're trying to understand them they try to understand you. Two way understanding obviously secures a relationship.
I've been trying to understand what my cat wants for awhile, just one thing haha. But he's not really even my cat, I guess at this point though he pretty much is.
Very well put. Cats use mostly non verbal communication so I really try to learn to recognize what they are saying and respond. The better I get at this the closer we get. Remember that cats meowing to you may be similar to them using baby talk with you since you aren't understanding their nonverbal cues. The better we get at non verbal the less meowing is needed. Pay attention to the tip of their tail. I put my palm under it and let it tell me what's going on.
As a cat ages, the cat is less able to keep nails short. Always check your older cat and trim nails if necessary. The nails can grow so long that they can dig into their pads. Check your cats at least once a week.
I had a Devon Rex years ago. His breeder repossessed a cat from a buyer because he had been declawed. 😢 She offered him to me for free because "he will live alone in an enclosure forever" unless she could find a good loving home for him. Of course, I took the cat. He was traumatized for life, and if anyone tried to touch his feet, he would recoil in fear or in pain. NEVER DECLAW A CAT!!!
I feel your pain, heartbreak and frustrating anguish!! We also inherited ( under duress) a declawed cat Casey beautiful black beauty. Because I already had 2 cats normal with claws. Casey was forced to spend his life in an enclosed room. We did our best to make him comfortable, bought him china dishes, water fountain, snacks, bedding, and we did our best to give him wuvies ❤. One of our other cat actually found a way to open his door . So we had to duct tape his door every time we went in to clean his box, bring him food, etc… I saw this precious cat suffer a lot. He walked different too !! We did our best to spend time with him as he was all alone . Eventually Casey developed cancer . His former owner feed him a diet of dry kibble. And sink water in spite of me providing water for them both before I aquired ownership. Casey withered away from a fluffy 22 lbs to a sad 9 lbs. he died in our arms on way to the vet. We miss you buddy. Rest In Peace Casey.
I have been blessed with the two sweetest moody little furballs. They have been traveling with me, been my furry nurses for many many surgeries and have been my two more valuable companions. They like to scratch my recliner. So I just draped my bison robe over it and brought them a new cat condo
I've done things to my cats that i regret. Things I didn't know were bad or didn't think about how it would affect the cat, this video has made me more mindful on looking from their point of view.
If you value your furniture above a cat, don't get a cat. Here in the UK declawing is (thankfully) illegal. I have 9 cats, 8 of them rescues. They have cat trees, scratching posts all over the house but some of them still prefer my sofa. That's OK. The sofa will wear out or I'll get fed up with it anyway. My cats are far more important. While I was watching the video Kira was on my lap, purring her head off and making biscuits. I got her at 8 months old as a foster. She had been horribly neglected by her uncaring, cruel owners who surrendered her because they were going to be visited by the RSPCA who'd visited them before and were following up the case. Poor Kira (the name I gave her) was grossly underweight, full of cat 'flu, fleas, worms and not spayed, also worrying was she had no strength in her back legs. We came to the conclusion she'd been confined in a very small space, like a cat carrier for long periods of time. She was terrified of us too and would hiss but never lash out when we passed her. We got her microchipped under anaesthetic. You've guessed it, we adopted her. The turning point came when I bought her a pretty pink polka dot collar, complete with bow on impulse. I showed it to her. I will never forget how she looked up into my face with an expression that said "That's for me?" and put her head forward to I could put it on. I have a beautiful photograph of her sitting so proud. She's a black cat with the most gorgeous green eyes. She's super friendly and loving and I feel blessed to have her. Our latest rescue we are still working on. He was an unneutered Tom who our neighbour was feeding until he moved away. We took over feeding and eventually caught our boy, had his health issues sorted by our vet, had him neutered and chipped and he too became part of our family. He is coming round in his own time, is learning to play but still hides when we have visitors until he decides they're not a threat. Our vet said he was very young, no more than 3 years old. I dread to think what would have happened to him if we hadn't caught him. He's also a stunningly beautiful black cat. He's usually to be found at night sleeping on the spare pillow above my head with a look of contentment and that makes me smile. All our cats, ages ranging from 19 years old to 4 years old are indoor cats. They are all so precious.
@@brianflower5490Yes, it is. I could never, ever inflict such a painful thing on my cats. Thankfully, declawing was outlawed in my country (UK) many years ago. Cropping dogs ears and cropping dogs tails is also illegal in my country although that didn't come into effect until 2006.
I didn't know about the declawing. My boy Cas is my first real pet ever. When I took him to the vet I asked if we could get him declawed. Thankfully the vet smiled and told me to have a seat and she explained what the procedure was. I had always thought it was just the removal of the nail. I'm soooo glad she told me that BEFORE it ever became a reality. Since then I vowed to research and ask a vet before every cat decision I make.
On another video, a month or so ago : If you are concerned about damaging furniture, etc, but not the animal’s wellbeing and one of their few ways to defend themselves, probably shouldn’t have a cat. There are several alternatives and you can definitely encourage scratching elsewhere/deter them from damaging stuff without causing them harm.
I used to live with people who would yell all the time at each other I would tell them to stop Finally they had to go. Now it is much quieter and my babies are much happier
To number 1: Electric coffee grinders are bad too. I always put our grinder on a thick peace of cork to minimize the noise. Our cat appreciated it very much.
I can't bear the sound of our coffee grinder, so I can just imagine the impact on cats' sensitive ears. I've reassured myself that it takes less than half a minute for my husband to grind coffee, but the cork sounds like a great idea to help our cats and he agrees.
My cats have a 1500 cm tall scratching post. The moment it was assembled, tried it out and never touched furniture again. I think they like the texture of the fabric around the post.. my yard is cat friendly and they roam inside and outside at will. Each sleeps inside at night. They have their individual bed and rugs. Happy cat - happy life
I've only had my little Athena Bear for two weeks after the mysterious "cat distribution system" dropped her off. I'm not a cat person and know very little about keeping one. Despite that, it seems I accidentally became the perfect cat owner! She follows me everywhere, sits on my feet on the sofa, sleeps by my head in bed, and curls up by my feet when I'm working. I made her a little house from a box and a blanket behind the sofa for her alone time, but lately, she prefers spending all her time right next to me. It's like we've always been meant to be together!
@@snazzydrew I learned from a cat book I had years ago that the best thing to do is have small area rugs around the house for their activity. It's worked for me, I have them almost everywhere and has saved my furniture.🤗🤗🤗
My cat used to love playing rough. She'd come up to me and start it. Then hop on my lap and purr and fall asleep. It depends on the cat. I didn't mind a few scratches if it meant my little friend was having fun.
@@Smokethemifyagotthem A lot of the time the issue with getting scratched is that their nails are overdue a trim. When they are super long you might get scratched even when they aren’t intending to.
Please do not declaw a cat even if you hate them. This is not about love - it is about the dignity of a living, intelligent and empathic being. it is an insane cruelty.
@@scrawn9721 it leads to bad health too. It's all about profits. Vets castrate kittens, then cat eats cat food for 3-4 years, gets stones in kindneys, undergoes medical treatment and then eats premium (!!!) cat food for another 3-4 years. Rinse and repeat.
I declawed both by female cats and had them spayed.....each lived an extremely good life, sisters to the end and they both lived to seventeen then passed within 24 hours of each other. I'd say that's a nice, happy long life, wouldn't you.
I have three cats. When I use the vacuum, two of them run and hide but the third will actually attack the vacuum, batting it with it’s paws. He seems to enjoy it and shows no signs of being afraid or stressed. Weird, huh? When I’m done, the other two come back out minutes later as though nothing has happened and Mr. Attack Cat is usually asleep by then.
I'm glad you feel that way! I hate "stupid pet tricks" or "funniest home videos" about animals, those type of things that are actually animal abuse intended for laughs.
Also, to add things up, there's an extremely degenerate group or two in RUclips and they do things far horrible to cats and other things. This shows how fucked up the world is rn.

@@SMASH_REVIEWS Only some do, such as some collie dogs sometimes. That's a different, separate issue from human exploitation of companion animals who love and trust the humans, as described above.
I usually wake my cat up when he makes noises while napping. I worry he is having a nightmare. Sometimes he wakes and looks annoyed. Sometimes he wakes and looks relieved and greatful and seems happy I am there.
I had an abused and neglected cat that I rehabilitated, took about 4 to 6 months for him to fully realize he was going to be safe. When he had nightmares, it was clear he was afraid by the twitching and jerking motions in his sleep, and I learned never to touch him in that state (extremely startling for him, and he would hiss at me while coming to consciousness, and then suddenly realized it was just me and get embarrassed, jump up, sit with his back to me, and feel shame until I said it was okay, that I loved him, and then he knew all was well and would come over purring for petting). So when he had nightmares the next time, I started to just gently speak to him in his sleep, no touch, and he would calm down and usually wake up for just a moment, stretch, yawn, and fall asleep peacefully (again purring). He was the best bravest dearest friend ❤️
My cat is hopelessly stupid. In order to show him who's boss here, I spend hours holding my apartment ownership certificate in front of his eyes, but he doesn't seem to understand...
@@mph1ish you know, who needs to be taught? Children. Because they don't have sense of morality built in them, like what you'd expect from grown adults. If you have to teach a grown ass man or woman that declawing a cat might be animal abuse, you know there's trouble in their minds.
How about if we just educate people instead of thinking about incarcerating them. If we incarcerate everyone that doesn't know everything I'm pretty sure we'd all be in jail too. Otherwise why have this video at all?
@@Penny-nd7oqAnimal abuse is illegal and declawing should be categorized as such, and not a service you can pay for at a vet It’s not a matter of locking people up, it’s a matter of something monstrous not being allowed to occur legally That said, yes I’m in favor of educating people
I made a bad move by having my first two cats declawed. The vet never told me how bad it was and declawed them. Never, never again!!! I now have my 11th baby ❤️❤️❤️
My boy isn't afraid of anything, I can vacuum right next to him and he trusts I wont hurt him. He works out with me, I can grunt, throw weights and play loud kpop music and he's happy to be with me. He loves me and I love him. Don't tell my wife of 40 years, she gets jealous.
The fact you CAN doesn't mean it doesn't get stress from it. Maybe it finds the stress of being alone worse than the stress of hearing your noise. I'm sure it still much preferred your presence without the noise. Noise always induces stress to almost any animal that's capabe of hearing.
I was asked to drive a four year old to the animal shelter as her owner had passed away. She took one look at me and walked straight into my arms. Love at first sight. That will be six years ago come October. A 27.3 lb tabby mix
THINKING of Buying or Keeping a Cat? Before anyone keeps a cat they really need to understand the animals psychological makeup. They need to respect the cat's individual and unique characteristics. They need to spend time developing a bond and earning trust. A cat is not a baby human or a cuddly toy, it is a small predator, a beautiful and majestic creature with tremendous abilities and almost supernatural powers. To keep a cat is not to own it, but to care for it and to insure that it's specific needs are met. You will find that if the cat that you have chosen, choses you, you will have a friend and a companion for it's whole sensitive life!
I too was always a dog person. About 17 years ago a cat ran in the door of my house at about 11 PM on a very cold night. I feed him tuna and he’s never left. I plan my life around him now.
Awww.❤ thank you for this. My poor Munchy is stressed out because of me and a loud TV. Ugh. Not anymore. He is my life. I know you all know what I'm saying. Cats. Dogs. All living breathing creatures deserve compassion.
Everytime my cat scratched things at my Mother house, I used to say "hey, it Will be memory whe she's gone". One night, three months ago, she managed to escape my family vigilance and get outside. I never liked her outside at night, without surveillance. Infortunately, my Mother and I found her dead body beside the road, by the morning. She was hit by a car, and seemed to have died quickly. My soul is hurting, since then. She was my girl. Almost 6 years. I was her human. And now, everytime I see the scratches, I smile. I was right.
I have a cat that used to attack another cat, but after spraying her & telling her no every single time, she doesn't do it anymore. I talk to the feral cats that sleep & eat at my place. I tell them I'm going to the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, outside or desk-chair & they learn what it means. It's just teaching them what your're doing, so they'll know. There was a real scared feral cat, after a few years she learned - that when I said I'm at my desk-chair - she would come in from outside to eat. She sees me at my desk-chair, I turn my head & look at her - she's not running out the door. When I'm going to make a noise, like the can opener - I say: make noise & they know it's coming.
My discipline is a stern voice followed immediately by a positive "Good girl! Good girl!" when my cat turns back after heading someplace she shouldn't be. If she doesn't listen to my stern voice, I get a toy and distract her and say "Good girl! Good girl!" when she heads back to where she should be.
My dad, a WWII vet marine, taught me that some snakes smell like cucumbers and to be wary if you smell cukes in an unusual place like in forest. I wouldn’t do this to a cat for that very reason.
Why is my cat like a literal angel? She is so nice and well behaved even though I never taught her. She doesn’t drop things on top of shelves. I never heard her hiss or get angry. Also the first time I met her, she just hid. She always wants to be in the same room as me. She is always quiet too.
Number 10, when a wanted to make friend with a cat that often spends time in my garden under shrubs, I let a sick I had worn all day outside. I figured since it's all about scent, like dogs, it was worth a go.It has been a huge sucess, and just let them approach me, or not, without any sounds of movement. Now if they see me, they will run across the lawn and over to me. I'm new to experiencing positive time with a cat, as I was scratched as a child and have avoided them. Met a friendly cat, a year ago, then researched lots on you tube since, to understand their body language, to minimise chances of getting scratched again.
My cats hate the sound of the vacuum cleaner, and the sound of thunder. They love to listen to soft sounding music, even heavy metal, (provided the sound isn't blasting the roof off the house). Declawing is cruel. Cats naturally shed their claws. A goog scratch pole helps. My cats have never scratched my furniture, as they use, and love their 8 poled " cat gymnasium", that has loads of tiered ledges, and hiding places. I'm always finding little "half moon" shedded claws round the place.
I remember when I was like…. 10 or so maybe in 1995, my mother had a cat with a lot of very aggressive/difficult scratching behavior. I think my mom had actually made the appointment for declawing, because I remember seeing it on the calendar. But someone talked her out of it and must have told her what declawing actually was and what it actually entailed, because she never actually went through with it and that cat never did get declawed, thank god! It’s actually a really sort of horrifying memory for me to think about, how close we came to mutilating that poor kitty. It’s absolutely horrific that it’s even considered a veterinary procedure in the first place and not simply considered illegal animal abuse.
Wow, what a powerful memory. 😢 It's so great that someone informed your mom about the reality of declawing in time. It's horrifying to think about how close that poor kitty came to such a painful procedure. Thankfully, your cat was spared, and it's a relief to see more awareness growing about the true nature of declawing. Thank you for sharing your story and helping to spread the word about this important issue. 🐾❤️
I learned to respect a cat’s boundaries. I got on the floor with a Tom cat and he rolled on his back with me. He was a really cool Tom Cat. The family got a new house and moved away. I feed stray cats in the garage they moved in. These cats roam all over the town. I prefer outdoor cats because they play with the birds. 😻😻😻😻😻😻❤️ Miaow.
One of my cats always watches me when I vacuum. But she keeps about a 4 to 6 foot buffer. The other one runs away, but always returns when the vacuum is off. I have several carpeted automobile floor mats around the house. The cats use them as scratching posts. I also have a cat tree. After 2 years, my furniture is still intact. Happy Easter!
Thanks so much! 😊 Feral cats are such resilient creatures. It’s amazing how they adapt and return as if nothing's happened after a day away. You're doing wonderful work caring for them! 🐱💖

I agree with all of this except the water sprayer. When they are fighting and making a ruckus, I get out the bottle and have used it to break up their occasional fights. They hate it and stop whatever they are doing, instead of ending up hurting each other. Now, when their behavior is unwanted, I have only to show them the bottle and they stop and leave the area. Otherwise, they have full run of the house and are well-adjusted. I live alone and they are not bothered day or night. I let them outside on an enclosed patio to give them some variety. I've had cats all of my 74 years and the water sprayer is the least offensive, touchless and completely harmless when it comes to correcting them.
I love my cat who will be 4 years old in May 2024. His little life is so important to me. He was given to me a year after my husband died of Cancer in 2018. Without my cat, I would be totally alone. I love him and I know he loves me. We are so close. If anything ever happened to him I know I would fall apart. He is like my little baby.

I moved into a house where one roommate had a cat she described as standoffish. She suggested I give the cat space, so I did. About two weeks later, I was standing in the kitchen talking to someone and felt something on my leg. I looked down and it was the cat rubbing my leg. I knew right then I'd won Bella over.
They should never declaw it should be illegal and a good veterinarian would never do that cruelty just be quiet and nice and feed and pet your cat and play with them
I have a spray bottle. Ive had it and my cat for 2 years. My cat's been actually sprayed twice in two years. But, but the their have been 100's of incidents where I can stop a bad behavior by just reaching for the bottles. He stops, not traumatized and somtimed he stopss, comes over and jumps on my lap. How you use spray bottles is the secret.
I trained my cat by saying eh, eh, eh bad boy and put him in the crate and told him he’s in timeout because he was a bad boy so now all I have to do is say who wants the time out and his ears go back and he behaves so.
Thank you for posting all this information on what should NOT be done to cats --- as you say, the internet is full of bad human behavious to cats, mostly due to thoughtlessness and ignorance, so I hope more and more people watch this and decide to be enlightened!♥
I literally play guitar out loud in my bedroom and my cat always comes to my bed just to listen while she sleeps. I play hardcore and heavy metal songs
I talk to my cat.And they reciprocate .In fact, if i walk into a room where the cat is lying down in some cosy place, she calls out and ensure i notice. Ihave to say a few friendly words before i move out. I feel the tone of the voice and the attention u give intermittently works well to create a bond and they are then so loving and cooperative
I had adopted a young cat and a couple of months later, I decided to adopt another one for company. This new cat was a little kitten 3 months old. I introduced the 2 very gradually but it didn't work out very well at all. In fact the first adopted cat was very agressive towards the kitten and I was very unsure whether I could keep the poor little kitten. I called the lady of the Animal Protection Society from whom I had adopted both cats to find a solution. She solved the problem very easily : catch the urine from the older cat and rub it over the body of the new cat. That worked perfectly - the older cat recognised the kitten as part of his family and peace came back between the two. If you are having the same problem, try this !!!!
Several years ago, my son said he was watching the cats jump and run away when they saw a cucumber behind them. He tried it and our cats didn't react like that at all. Instead, they turned around, sniffed it, pawed at it and scooted the vegetable around the kitchen floor. He was disappointed.

Similar experience for me. Been a dog person all my life, but then took-in a senior stray, and now understand why people love cats so much.
😊😊 ok A
My childhood cat Lisa passed away at 20 a few weeks ago.
My deepest condolences to you and your family 😻💐🙏
That’s love……….that’s life.
I feel for you. Try saying to yourself that your pet had the best possible life a cat could have.
What a happy life you gave. ❤❤❤
My heart is with you my bengal cat passed a few months ago kidney cancer.
Mine sleep pressed together, paws to the ceiling. A friend says it is a sign of my over protectiveness.
Dam skippy.
I think she understood it was an accident, because she stayed with me the rest of the night, and the next day she was loving as ever and it was like it never happened.
yes, at least they forgive and forget (eventually)
My fucking cat pounces on me in a deep sleep and I'm Paranoid cuz we got lots of burglaries... I have woken up started yelling kicking like a human was on top of me.
I can't help it I have had window broken and I scared a man away, I feel bad but if something loud or effects me I get scare. I have to find my lil cat give her treats and make her feel comfortable, I feel bad but if something hops on my bed or she breaks something I wake up yelling and walk with a big weapon clearing the house.
If she stopped doing that I wouldn't be so tripped out lo.... but she still sleeps next to me most of the time
It would be so convenient if cats could understand shit like "Oh sorry bro my bad" "Nah it's all good hooman"
@@danf7411your cat is okay dw they are pretty sensitive but they are also smart. your cat can tell that you love her and startling her now and then at night isn’t that terrible if you treat her kindly in the rest of your time together

WELL SAID. 😻👍

1. Do not raise your voice or make sudden loud noises before cats as their hearing is extremely sensitive. They perceive the loud person/ thing as a threat.
2. Do not tease cats - like, pulling their tail or waking them when asleep.
3. Do not declaw
4. Do not indulge in rough play
5. No harsh discipline rather use positive reinforcement
6. Care about their needs like combing them regularly or cleaning their litter box
7. Respect their territory.
8. Do not frequently interrupt their sleep as it leads to stress.
9. Do not play pranks on a cat as they feel insecure. Do not dress up a cat
10. Do not force them to interact with new pets/persons/ environments. Give them time.
Thanks so very much for the summary...we really appreciate it ❤
Thanks!
Thanks!!!❣
And don't close the toilet lid in favor of a bowl of water, if the cat is used to drinking out of the toilet. I was a guest in a house and did that, and the cat got so miffed that it peed on the carpet in my room in retaliation!

Declawing isn't a controversial issue. It is quite simply WRONG.
It's quite simply CRUEL.
I’m so glad it’s illegal in my country. It’s beyond me how any veterinarian could perform it when they know how cruel and damaging it is.

None of the vets within 25 miles of me do declawing, probably further than that, but 25 miles is all I know.

How does declawing affect bladder?
The two cats that live with me have taught me so much.
I think I am a better person because of them.
The single most important thing you have to do in a relationship with a cat is try to understand what they want of you. When they see you're trying to understand them they try to understand you. Two way understanding obviously secures a relationship.
Truer words were never spoken!!!🙏❤️🙏❤️
Very good advice. We need to modify our care according to an elders needs. God bless you.
Same as dogs
I had a Devon Rex years ago. His breeder repossessed a cat from a buyer because he had been declawed. 😢 She offered him to me for free because "he will live alone in an enclosure forever" unless she could find a good loving home for him. Of course, I took the cat. He was traumatized for life, and if anyone tried to touch his feet, he would recoil in fear or in pain. NEVER DECLAW A CAT!!!
It's better to get them a scratching post they can use. Or get them toys to play with.
I almost divorced my husband over him taking my two cats and doing this!

I got Infedal her own reclining chair yet she claws the hell outta mine ........

If you are concerned about damaging furniture, etc, but not the animal’s wellbeing and one of their few ways to defend themselves, probably shouldn’t have a cat. There are several alternatives and you can definitely encourage scratching elsewhere/deter them from damaging stuff without causing them harm.
Yeah I agree. Don't have pets if your stuff is more important than a life.
If people would place scratch posts around the furniture (corners especially) the cat will learn to use the scratch post instead.

Despite that, it seems I accidentally became the perfect cat owner! She follows me everywhere, sits on my feet on the sofa, sleeps by my head in bed, and curls up by my feet when I'm working.

Those whom you have to explain to why declawing is a form of animal abuse, should not even be allowed to walk free in society
Really? Some have no idea- maybe they never had a cat before. These people should be educated, not shunned.

@@mph1ish you know, who needs to be taught? Children. Because they don't have sense of morality built in them, like what you'd expect from grown adults. If you have to teach a grown ass man or woman that declawing a cat might be animal abuse, you know there's trouble in their minds.

The cat chooses the human...
Declawing is the worst thing possible to do to a cat. If you don't want the scratching, get a dog. Declawing is outright torture.

Get them a scratching post to use.
Wow
My discipline is a stern voice followed immediately by a positive "Good girl! Good girl!" when my cat turns back after heading someplace she shouldn't be. If she doesn't listen to my stern voice, I get a toy and distract her and say "Good girl! Good girl!" when she heads back to where she should be.
Sounds like you need to get out more. And let the cat out too.
@@orangewarm1why do you get that from this comment?
Whatever works. They know when they are loved or not loved, and when they know they are loved, they can put up with some crap.
Never declaw a cat.

Be nice.
Declawing is something I refuse to do as a veterinarian. As a human amputee about phantom pain. Declawing can cause phantom pain in cats.
What a great idea! I'm going to buy a set of car mats today 💕- thanks
@@edwardzarnowski5558 Just be sure to pick up any "dust bunnies" that they create. My goofy cats try to eat them! Happy Caturday!
Declawing is illegal here in Europe.
0:48 I feel like this is something I can relate to as an autistic person.
Thanks for your information!
This video is very helpful and good ❤
Thank you so much! I'm glad you found the video helpful and enjoyable. ❤ 🐾😊
Great video! I take care of feral cats, and when the gardeners come, they take off for the day. "They return at night as if nothing has happened."
Thanks so much! 😊 Feral cats are such resilient creatures. It’s amazing how they adapt and return as if nothing's happened after a day away. You're doing wonderful work caring for them! 🐱💖
Any cat owner that wants a cat declawed doesnt deserve a cat. They should be happy enough with a teddy bear instead.

Than,Thanks SO MUCH for Reminding US how to approach our cats. Very important information. We should remember. DAILY. FEELING sad 😢, hope ķtty forgives us humans. I think he does. He always shows us how to stroke his face & body on his terms. 😮😮😮 😊.
Those people who mistreat their pet/s, don't deserve to adopt them!!!🤬
I’m so glad that my parents had to sign a contract that we wouldn’t declaw them or let them be outdoor cats after watching this video!😊
Declawing is barbaric and should be outlawed. Any vet who declaws a cat should have his or her license revoked.
Thanks I needed this to take care of my cats
I love cats they're adorably smart don't upset cats❤
My cat can whatever the hell he wants, hes such good boy, loveable, funny, he.just turned 10 this past Dec and he acts like he's 2yrs old lol hes the Greatest thing to ever come into our lives...Pickles, we LOVE YOU BOY 😂❤😻
Many vets won't declaw a cat. I would never do that. It's cruel and very painful. I heard that they can develop arthritis when they get older.
thanks a LOT for the USEFUL information and to be COMPLETELY honest i did do and/or PROBABLY will SOMEWHAT like cats
I moved into a house where one roommate had a cat she described as standoffish. She suggested I give the cat space, so I did.
About two weeks later, I was standing in the kitchen talking to someone and felt something on my leg. I looked down and it was the cat rubbing my leg.
I knew right then I'd won Bella over.
neat video.. some great info, i knew little about,, thanks much enlightenment, in showing things i didn't know...
They should never declaw it should be illegal and a good veterinarian would never do that cruelty just be quiet and nice and feed and pet your cat and play with them
This is really helpful thanks
Declawing IS cruel and illegal in my State.😞
5:40 I HAVE THE SAME LITTER BOX 😭🤣
There is a saying, a dog has a boss and a cat has staff.
very good post, thank you!
Same. All i have to do is reach for the spray bottle.

I’m hoping declawing is no longer performed, it’s been shown to be horrifyingly painful and crippling to cats.
Agreed
I literally play guitar out loud in my bedroom and my cat always comes to my bed just to listen while she sleeps. I play hardcore and heavy metal songs
Yeah man, I hear ya, all cats are different. We had a cat that used to sleep in the kick drum.
Anybody who would declaw a cats should never be able to own one
Declawing Is inhumane. Period.
I hate seeing videos of cats wearing clothes. It must be so uncomfortable! Poor things.
