If you let this dough sit in your fridge for 2 or 3 days in a well sealed container it begins to taste like Pretzel bread. Very delicious and the longer you let it cold rise in your fridge the better this bread will taste.
Once in the fridge for 2 or 3 days, can you roll like in the video & cook them in the same way . With thanks

We call this Naan in India. :) Pair it with butter chicken or any paneer (cottage cheese) curry and you'll know what heaven tastes like.

It looks exactly like one of our breads in morroco called "lbatbout" but we don't put yogurt in it, the one you made is for sandwiches but you can take it off even before it inflates and eat it with some honey and butter so delicious and smooth 🥰

The moment you wiped the oil with a dough you won me over. So old school but in a good way ❤
It looks and feels so much like " batbout" a traditional Moroccan bread 🍞 made during celebrations and during Ramadan. It has two versions one thats sweet wth honey butter 🧈 and the other salted stuffed with veggies cheeses meat and or charcuterie.

Ive tried it and i love this recipe!! This is the best!!! I have tried so many different naan or flat bread recipes and i think its the best... I will stick to this recipe. Perfectly soft and chewy!! Did you let it rise, then shape into a ball , roll out then pan fry. Like in the video or let it rise until ready to use? How did you keep the cooked breads and for how long ?
You make it look so easy! Wonderful recipe and video. Love how you gently hold down a raised part of the bread in the skillet so that other areas of the bread can evenly rise, also. In my house, expiring yogurt means moldy. Haha. But indian naan uses yogurt too and it's very tasty so I'm sure this will be too.

Can you use expired yogurt? Not the ones with spots appearing, but just passed it expiry date?
@@khadijah6141 try the yoghurt if it still taste fine and it should be no problem ( expire dates are after all only approximations)

Brown sugar isn’t any more healthy than white sugar. It just has molasses in addition to the same amount of sugar.

I can't make this recipe work. They don't puff up at all. I made it exactly as you did on the video but they just stayed flat.. So the only thing it could be is the flour. Is it plain flour or self raising?? I used plain and I'm going to try it again with self raising flour. I think I've had this problem before when I've tried to make Naan.
these sorts of videos always leave out some sort of detail that makes it so you can never quite get it right.

Really clever - only confused about the yogurt - does it have to be a specific kind? can it be substituted? lots of recipes will sub greek unsweetened yogurt with sour cream or mayo
Nah man, they said they ate it with cheese afterwards. The yoghurt has bacteria that contribute to fermenting the dough. Some Naan recipes for example only use yoghurt and no yeast. Most yoghurt has these, even some vegan ones do, so just look on the label and you should find one.

Hi Marta, I think a mix of whole wheat and AP flour would work, but not entirely almond and oat flours. They have no gluten, so the structure of the dough would be much different.

I made this recipe last night. I've been intimidated by yeast recipes. Maybe bc I failed home economics twice. It was a challenge converting, or trying to, convert the grams to teaspoon etc. But it turned out really super! And sooo easy! Soft and delious. I'll definitely make it again and add garlic, etc

Flavored. I'm not a fanatic like Bono etc. It says in the China Study, if ur vegan 90% of the time, u have all the health benefits of being vegan 100%. I flattened 2 pieces real thin so they came out sort of crispy and chewy, to use with hummus. YUM!

@@25KENDALL I think so, for this recipe. I think that's what makes it puff up. I kept the vd on the counter and followed it step by step. The most difficult part was figuring out the measurements. I googled the, 'warm water'. If using fast active yeast, the h2o should be between 105-110 F. I used a candy thermometer. I think if u don't use yeast u'll have something like nan. I've seen eastern and western Indian flat bread that is made w/o yeast.

Honestly, I have never baked them in the oven. You can try baking at 356 F/180 C for 8-10minutes

I changed it a little bit. I had 150 g yogurt, so I dobbled all the ingredients and exchanged the missing 30 g of yogurt with some oatmilk + i skipped the olive oil. It still worked.

Hello from Scotland. I just found your channel and am looking forward to making this flat bread. I have two questions though. First, will non dairy yogurt work such as soy yogurt Or plain coconut yogurt? And second, I only have a cast iron skillet, I noticed you did not add oil to cook your flatbreads, is this because it is a non stick pan? Would I need to add a little oil to my pan to prevent sticking? Thanks for your help and for sharing the video. I have subscribed. 💖

Not the poster of the video, but I might be able to help answer your questions. If the non-dairy yogurt is cultured and thick, it will probably work well (if the yogurt is very thin, you might be able to strain it in the fridge for a few hours before making the bread). If your cast iron skillet is not well-seasoned, a generous amount of oil may be necessary to keep the flatbreads from sticking or burning. A well-seasoned cast iron pan kept at a medium-low temperature will probably need only a little oil brushed on it with a pastry brush or paper towel between each flatbread.

Oh yes, the cast iron is well seasoned, it belonged to my grand parents, then went to my parents, then to me when my mother passed more than 20 years ago, so it has never gone more than a week without being used (and that was when I moved from the US to Scotland Lol), so it has been in full use for for at least 80 years...and still looks like new. Great advise for the non dairy yogurt, I will strain it just to be certain and it usually is a bit runnier than dairy yogurt. I am excited to give this a go. Thanks again for your help! 💖
I just made it with the cast iron pan. No need to add oil. Actually, I think cast iron pans are the best pan for it.

it does :) just be sure touse one with yoghurt cultures (bacteria) in it (most soy yoghurts have that). it should say so on the label
