My driving improved 200% when I actually got my license and starting driving alone. Found it super stressful to have someone next to me judging every move I made.
Same. I just got my license but already feel 100 times better than the entire time I had my lessons and test.
I cant expect to pass my license test just because I feel nervous while driving because my father just keeps pointing out mistakes. I recently started driving alone ad I dont find any problems, but with my father, its like problems run into me and not the other way around.

i got mine and start blasting music and driving like im drink, no indications,1 handed turning slight speeding, its a mix after u get independent license

yeah and they put continuous honking sounds as the cars pass by
Commercial television...Some program makers fear the point is not coming across, or think it makes it a lot more funny than it actually is, out of fear of being unable to hold the viewer's attention.

I failed my driving test twice with the same instructor who was very intense and was picky about everything I was doing but the third time I had a different instructor who was so chill and talked to me the entire time that I forgot the intensity of the moment of what I was doing. I passed with flying colours!
Sometimes , no matter you well you have improve, there is just that one person who will screw you up. I remember doing pretty much decent in driving (with occasional stalling due to different car models being used every session), with nice reviews from previous driving instructors, then on the final day of assessment this nasty instructor is my assessor; talks calm when he lectures me on my driving mistakes then when we returned to the driving school, I was surprised he was about to give me low grade, because he thinks I need to improve more, I just begged to him, until he eventually fold and gave me a reluctant PASS and driving school certificate, on the condition I dont go on the official govt. driving assessment until I practiced hard (I told him we had a vehicle at home)

That's how my lessons went. First time was a scary, quiet dude who was hella picky when going over what I did. Second time was a talkative, friendly lady who really put me at ease often. I was successful with her
I've so far failed 2 NSW P's tests due to the instructors. Local test centre near me is a nightmare, got an instructor who had HIS OWN instructor, just sitting behind me and glaring into my rear view mirror, and he failed me for 4 early head checks (trust me he was full of BS), and the second test I was failed for someone else cutting into my lane going probably about 70 in a 50, no indicators, no warning. I swerved to miss him and apparently that caused me to fail for "not giving him enough space" :| really need it for work and im just so annoyed, it put a dent in my driving confidence and im just annoyed because I should've passed. Both times.

I'd rather have them laughing at me than screaming at me lol. Laughing at me even though I failed makes it a positive experience to try again and practice, screaming on the other hand makes me want to drop the examiner off at the curb and drive off or never take the test again. Though I'm not as bad as any of the drivers above here lol
Most of these aren't actually driving tests. The show is called "Driving Test". It shows driving tests and teaching lessons which is why they are laughing in some of them.

I remember learning to drive it was the most anxious time of my life 🤣 now I’m just flabbergasted that I know how to work a car and can take myself places. Blows my mind to this day because it always seemed so complicated

@Becoming New I am learning too. Taking lessons. On 2nd lesson took me on road. Each time it get's easier and my fear diminishes. I am overwhelmed by the things you have to be mindful of. The more you drive, the easier it becomes. I am no longer petrified to get behind the wheel...thank goodness.

Tbh, these instructors seem so chill and I wouldn’t mind having one of them as my instructor, it would def calm my nerves down.
My first one was absolutely awesome, one time we drove past a store where a former student worked and the store celebrated it's 5 year anniversary which obviously was cause for celebration with some balloons as decoration, and he went towards me "Don't mention me right now", opened his window and shouted out something like "OOOOOOH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SET OF BALLOONS!!!!! OOOOOOH!!!" and put his window back up and then as if nothing happened went to me "Former student....her store is celebrating it's 5th year anniversary" while I had just learned in my theory book not to shout to pedestrians even if you know them because it's considered rude behavior from a car user :P.
Next to that when he noticed I was nervous about some things we went to a parking lot without curbs and we got up to speed like in a main neighbourhood road and at a certain moment he said "Release the wheel and make an emergency stop", and when we had come to a standstill he was like "So, what did you notice?"
And I was like "Ehm, ABS kicking in, my seatbelt keeping me where I am?" at which he was like "But did the car try to change position without you holding the wheel?"
It took away so much fear for me from the idea that the car in even non-emergency situations would do something unexpected.
Along with his remark at the very first time we were doing a reverse somewhere, he was like "If you are not driving with a trailer of whatever sort, the steering wheel in a car will not magically change directions when we reverse. Turning the wheel right will make the back of our car turn inwards to the right, reversing does not change the direction of your wheel when it comes to which way you want to go, keep that in mind."

After 2 fails I finally got my license! It's pretty easy for the evaluator to fail you for simple mistakes so keep your head up if it happens. Failure doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad driver. Keep practicing and go at it again. You're bound to get someone who believes in you. But for me I took a step further by contacting a private license and professional dmv agent that helped me to write a provisional letter to bypass the test drive and i was given a provisional driver's license which will last for 12 months. I got a license now and it will serve for 1 year then I renew again.
My little advice.
* If you think are too nervous for the test drive then you can easily switch to a provisional driver's license which you won't need to test drive.

It’s been a very horrific story for me😢 I don’t know why I don’t have luck whenever it comes to getting my test it’s either I’m with a bad supervisor or I’m just the one with the problem, I have failed my test thrice now and I am fed up now but seeing this I would love to ask if you can guide me on how to hire one

Could anyone else feel the drivers frustration when she just chilled at the green light?
Yeah that was obviously unnecessary of her to stop like that at a green light but one thing i have learnt though is that just because you have a green light doesn't always mean you can go, for example i could have a green arrow for me to turn right but at the same time the opposite side of the road can have a green light to go straight ahead so i would have to give way while traffic goes straight ahead before i can turn so yeah just because you have a green doesn't always mean that you can go

Green light = you can move out a bit and have to wait till it’s clear

The lady who didn’t know the 3 point turn was such a mood. My instructor asked me which way the back would swing out and i was like “that’s a great question” most of these folks seem pretty willing to learn though
Can't believe how calm these instructors are. Where I live our instructors are notoriously hard, they'll have a heart attack if you forget one time to turn with both hands constantly on the wheel or if you make a safe lane change without their permission. 😂 These drivers are nearly colliding with everything in sight and the instructors laugh it off
These Aussie instructors seem so nice. Way better than any of them in the UK.

Being a manual car driver, watching this was nerve racking to the core. Now I truly understand how stressful this is. Thank you Driver’s Education Instructors for all you all do to help new drivers. Watching this was an experience on its own. 😳

As a learner, watching these people made me persevere more on improving my driving
as a current learner driver this makes me feel a lot more confident in my driving skills

Personally, my first failed driving exam was a trainwreck. I didn't think I was ready but my dad didn't want to pay for my lessons anymore and urged me to go. My nerves got to me and I was much, much worse than usual. And then for the following tests the weather got really bad and I wasn't accustomed to it. And it kept getting worse with each exam. When I finally passed, it was in the snow :,D But yeah these people clearly need more lessons and so did I

He was my driving instructor and he was one of the best. He had a high passing rate for his students taking their test for the first time and he was really patient. I passed my test first time because he told me what to avoid and whatnot beforehand. One of the best and I still think about him sometimes lol

I got my permit at 16 and I'm now 18 and I'm so scared of driving I never went back. I probably need to tho cuz my permit expired and it's not like I can use it for the rest of my life but I also can't even park a car. So they'd probably fail me if I went since I haven't even been on a road with more than one lane and I needed my license not until I hired a professional test drive professional who helped me in skipping the test and now I have my license
I'm gonna be 27 and still don't have my license because my family always keeps me inside the house. Luckily I applied for jobs to find my way out of this cage. They only taught me to drive i neighborhoods and shame me for not getting a license like my younger cousin who's mom is less strict. I'm tired of it and am tired of my life being drained, I want to take action for my own life and am doing it slowly but believe soon I can at least get my license and looking at your comment on this video makes me wonder and I think I want to skip the test too

@@johnsmith-fz5pz I was wondering if it was down to the positio her glasses were in and not the actual glasses themselves that were the problem. Her glasses were down way beyond her nose and when you get your eyes tested for glasses, they always pinpoint the center of you eyes when looking straight ahead so the glasses get made with the correction at the right place. She's looking right through the edge of he glasses and that seriously won't help in getting correct vision.

A lot of these people are learning in automatics and still can’t do it. If you can’t learn in an automatic you have no hope.. Driving an automatic is like driving a go kart

Agreed. An automatic removes like half of the things to keep in mind when driving, of course with time it comes naturally.

For the nervous drivers: as a fellow learner, it's okay to TAKE YOUR TIME. Whether it's with parking, or getting onto a road only when you're 100% sure. You have no obligation to anyone to hurry.
Edit March 2022: I now have an actual license and still stand by this. Don't get angry when people need their time, and take the time you need. Better safe than sorry x

@@midnightdemon9157 let's just take a moment to remember that statistically, men die earlier than women. Why? Stupidity, risk taking (toxic masculinity but ik someone like you won't understand that).
5:50 I relate a lot to this guy. When I started learning I would look at the gear to change, but when I did that my hand off the wheel led to the other turning it and id gradually come in without realising. And if the seat is a single position too close I'd underestimate the braking. One of the best things my instructor did was sit and hammer into me the gear positions by feeling the shifts over and over along with a quick glance before for the current gear.
Same when i was on a practice track i kept looking at my gear while driving and almost hit a sign several times. My dad wasnt happy. But after the second time of going there i mastered the Clutch control and can safely shift gears while driving and also do roundabouts without a problem

the patience these instructors have is amazing, I would've legit thrown half of them out the car and told them to stick to public transport
Aussie instructors tend to be the best ones. I don’t know what it is with all these foreign instructors losing their chill over mistakes someone with 30 years driving could easily make
@@chrislouis7913 Yah, I find the calm passive aggressive instructors to be uncomfortable and uneasy, they are either silent and occasionally lecturing you calmly on your driving mistakes while cruising, then after the end of the session you will gonna get surprised they have you low grades
Let's not forget that this is heavily edited for maximum drama. I bet you that if we would see the raw footage it would in absolutely no way be as dramatic as it is suggested here, and that's along with all the unnecessary sound effects that for sure as hell have been edited in for laughs...

I was never taught to drive by somebody else so I never had the same anxiety of messing up that most people experience and I think it helped a bunch. I already knew what to do from paying attention as a kid I just needed a little experience by myself.. I didn't get my license in highschool I got it at 19 but by then I had already driven quite a bit whether it was sneaking my parents car out at night to see girls, driving friends cars who were too drunk after parties, following parents back in their car from the u-hual place etc it just kinda came naturally. By the time I took my driver test it felt like I was just picking someone up to drive them around the block and drop them off 5 minutes later. Instead of having to thinking of what to do all I had to do was think of what not to do such as driving with one hand or something similar that we normally do when driving by ourselves. I was so relaxed my instructor on the test had to turn my radio down because I didnt even notice it playing lmao

I learned in a manual and if the instructor touched the pedals that's an automatic fail. touching the kerb is a fail, and going across a solid line is a fail, not stopping at a stop sign etc. I had a tough instructor, and I'm happy he was straight and taught me correctly
Me too, got yelled at plenty of times when I was learning in a manual transmission car. I hated it but it sure as heck taught me to be an observant and competent driver.

I learned on an auto, but the car my parents had for me to drive was a manual so I either learned how to drive manual or I didn’t drive. I learned how to drive a manual lol

I am SOOOO glad I got my drivers license in 45 long minutes, during which I made zero mistakes and meanwhile the driving instructor and the other dude talked about baking bread. Again, I made no mistakes but it felt like I was listening to my dad and uncle talking, zero pressure. Loved it.
Instructors here in the states are MAD. It’s genuinely so surprising to see someone make such a simple or costly error and not get completely berated

Their driving test day in Australia is like a first lesson in the UK (not a reflection of aussie drivers just the ones in the show)
This show does not reflect the Aussie driving test, me and all my friends got our Ps first try, you'll find most L platers on test day are very experienced, cautious, tested drivers
? got mine first go chum. it is actually pretty hard to get a licence in Australia. pretty much if you can't drive very good you won't get it.

When I passed my test in 2006 in Canada, the cars we used had breaks and a stearing wheel on the teacher’s side in case of an accident or something. I also remember I basically had to have passed the theoric test and driven like 24 hours with a professor at least before I could do the actual test. I don’t see any of that in this video but it may be hidden.
I’ll also tell you what my father told me at the time which I think was the best advice ever : When driving, never assume people saw you. You have to watch for everyone else :)
In australia we also have brakes on the teachers side of the car :) depending on the state you normally need 100-120 hours of driving time (which then has to be approved to make sure it’s not forged) then if that’s approved you can do your test. I’m about to go for my test and v nervous because there’s so many people on the road that shouldn’t be driving agh. I had 3 cars pull out on my last lesson when they’re meant to wait and give way.

Heart and eye checks, some schools require you to practice on a driving simulator inside their school before driving a real car , the driving instructor has his own pedals on the co-drivers seat to prevent big mistakes or even accidents, and you're only allowed to the test if you've done the theoretical test and spent a minimum of 30 hours on the road and the instructor feels like you're ready

same in Spain but here you dont have to spend a minimum of hours on the car. But obviously if the teacher sees you are not prepared he won't let you go for it, or at least he will try (cause in the end you are the one who decides)
It depends on where they are in Australia. Most states require a mimimium of 50 hours day time and 5 hours night time driving. However Victoria requires 120 hours day time and 10 hours night time driving

When I was in drivers ed, my drivers ed instructors cars had a brake pedal on the passenger side, and it was annoying tbh, but it helped me learn when I should brake and when not to
I just started to learn yesterday and am watching to calm my nerves down when behind the wheel. Seeing other people mess up is comforting a bit and let's me off on a note that everyone else was in my position once
people mostly make these mistakes because they're nervous or it could be there first time with no lessons

Nope. They have at least 120 hours of practice because the test they are doing is upgrading from a learners licence to a provisional 1 licence which requires at least 120 hours of practice driving.

I got a 100 on my driving test before I watched this video, this really helped and made me understand how good of a driver I was bc I was nervous asf
I watched a bunch of videos on this show before my test, and let me tell you, it really helps calm your nerves knowing that you're probably not too bad compared to these people.

These driving testers are actually nice, I remember my first one who was uneasy as soon as he saw me and while driving, he keeps asking me about my how I immigrated to Australia, after about 10 min, he decided to lead me back to the station and fails me stating I was going too slow. But I was going 50k on a road with no speed sign. I passed the test on my 2nd time though
I still don't understand why they consider going a bit slower means you're not confident with your driving. My dad warns me that sometimes they might fail you for going 58 on a 60 road.
