Quick tip for everyone! Remember the more nervous you are the harder and longer the test will feel. Also remember check mirrors at all times over exaggerate if you have to. If you think you’ve done a serious mistake don’t put it to mind and keep driving with confidence. As for everyone who’s got the test coming up good luck and may god be with you❤️
i passed my test last monday on the 2nd attempt. The first attempt i had such an easy route but got unnecessarily anxious and stressed and flopped it pretty bad but the second time my nerves were in check and i actually felt locked in. Stress/anxiety is defo a bit part.
Passed my test two weeks ago. I had a difficult test route. Unexpectedly there were diversions, temporary traffic lights and an accident which happened on my route. But thank God I managed and stayed calm.
I agree on everything else, except the overexaggerated mirror checks. You should only check the RELEVANT mirrors, when either changing speed or direction, or when you feel it's necessary. Overchecking your mirrors not only takes your eyes off the road more often and for longer, but on the test, shows the examiner that you're trying to please the examiner more than anything.

100% the most confident and polished driving I’ve seen by a learner on the channel, I’d only air caution that he’s so confident which is great, but overconfidence can lead to big mistakes out on the roads when you’ve passed. Always drive like it’s your test!!
Roundabout. Exit in right lane, drive 100 yards or so, observe and then move to the left lane . Perfect driving. Its quite tricky to cut to the left lane on exit. Better do it on a straight road with no distractions.
@DGNDriving and Alex. Thank you very much for this video as it helped me a lot to pass my driving first time. Watching Alex drive with confidence really boosted a sense of confidence in me and I am sure must have helped lot others!
I can’t believe I finally get to say my own “I just passed my driving test, anyways I’m saying it now”. I passed my driving test yesterday (18 July 2024) at the first attempt, but the best part is I absolutely passed with ZERO MINORS . I can’t find the right words but elated doesn’t cut it, I watched your videos every single day for the last 2 months gathering the information on all the failed mock test to see what they did wrong and took note of it. Thank you very much PIN, you don’t even know how much of a blessing you are to so many aspiring drivers out there , keep doing what you do 🙏
Alex shows how it should be done. Calm, controlled, competently, confidently and safety. Remember IPSGA. Information dictates the speed, great and acceleration - wins every time. Top tip - say what you're doing out load. It helps you slow down and concentrate. Also lovely to see the 10/2 position, and he's feeding it through his hands so maintaining control.
Just wanted to come here to say that I passed today with 6 minors and it was the first time I took the test. My instructor was brilliant but using your videos to help, fill in the gaps and remind me of various aspects of driving definitely got me over the line today so thank you. ❤🎉❤
Have you hired him as an instructor yet Pin? 😜 Impressive stuff Alex. I passed second time with four minors. Wish I could have bottled some of Alex’s calmness and confidence for my test. A really polished, composed and competent drive. I was literally s******g bricks and cleaning sick up off my kitchen floor as my instructor arrived for the pre-test drive on which I was dual controlled three times. I was convinced I was going to fail but between the wise words of my instructor and the relaxing presence of the examiner, I somehow pulled it off. Nobody was more surprised than me. As a disabled driver using hand controls, it took me over two years to get to the point of passing my test. Something I was always told and never believed I’d be able to do. There were times where I was ready to walk away but the hard hours were worth it. Definitely one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. To all learners, don’t lose faith, it will come. No driver is perfect and we all make mistakes even after passing. Learning to drive can be the most nerve wracking and frustrating experience. But the confidence that comes with knowing you’ve nailed it takes you to a completely different level. Respect to any learners who are willing to be filmed too. Driving alone is enough to make anyone apprehensive let alone doing it on camera. Huge kudos and thank you for allowing others to learn with you on your journey.
I passed my practical test on the first attempt yesterday without an instructor. I used to watch DGN Driving videos and Clearview Driving which helped me a lot. Thank you for these videos. Best of luck to all those who are preparing for the test.
Thank you for all your videos. I failed my test today because of wrong lane positioning. Basically at Holbrooks roundabout I was suppose to position on the second lane and I positioned on the first. Bear in mind both lanes goes to the second exit but because the exerminer specifically said position in the second lane and I didn't get the grip on time. He gave me a serious fault. No dangerous driving or endangering of peopes life. Well , lesson learnt .
Going uphill was my weak point practicing for my exam , now I have my License from 2018 . Guys push the gas more when going uphill , this prevents the Stalling.
yeah this was hard to understand at the start. I was always told especially on a really steep up hill go at least 15 or maybe even close to 20mph before changing gears cuz the lower gear helps and changing gears drops your speed by quite a bit. Also keep your clutch higher than normal when moving off from uphill otherwise the car is gonna roll backwards.
I have been watching your channel for over a year now and i passed my test today first try with only 1 driver fault, stalled on the emergency stop. so glad its all finally over and good luck to anyone who has their test coming up :D
i just started watching this channel due to a random recommendation and Im fascinated how different the traffic rules are, especially on roundabouts! In Germany, you never signal when entering roundabouts, only when leaving. and because from the roundabout perspective, each exit is to your right, you always signal right. Also, no test in Germany would ever be failed for bad signals.
@@zm_headhunter no. most roundabouts only have 1 lane. since we drive on the right side and you can only exit the roundabout towards the right, then if you signal and leave on one exit, the person wanting to enter through the same exit is not blocked by you. and if you dont want to exit, they have to wait, because you always have to yield to traffic when you want to enter a roundabout.
He is one of the best student drivers i've seen, but in hungary for the one handed driving you would fail immediately, still he's a really great driver. Nice job bro
@@sueloader6277you’re allowed to drive with one hand as long as you are still in full control of the car, you won’t fail for that unless you using one hand to drive is making it dangerous
“Rule 160 of the Highway Code states that you must drive with both hands on the wheel whenever practicable. This means that while driving with one hand is not illegal, it is typically accepted as best practice for safe driving.” - so not illegal, maybe try learning more about the highway code?
Alex did good.😅 Thank you for coming on this YT video. My personal favourite on channel was Tash.😮 Her video was a good watch. :) Edit update Cat a good pass video in 7th January was good too!
I just passed my driving test this morning with 3 minors, thanks for your videos. I'll just say during the test don't think you are in a test just think you are normally driving or giving a mock test to your instructor to ease your nerves (that's the most important thing). Once you have driven from any road just forget about it and focus in front (doesn't matter if you have made a mistake or not, just forget about it).
UK drivers, I need to ask you something. I'm from the US and have been driving for years, but I've been watching these videos out of sheer enjoyment. Generally, there is a "proper" way to drive in order to pass the test, and then there is the way people drive after getting their license. In the US, for example, one should have both hands on the wheel, at the 9' and 3' positions. A good chunk of people only drive with one hand after passing; some rest the driving hand on their lap, or rest their elbow by the window. If they want to make a turn, many often press their palm into the wheel with one hand, as opposed to turning with both hands. During the test, when parallel parking, they are supposed to look over their shoulder to see the opposite side of the car. With a license, many often grab the back of the passenger seat to rotate themselves more in order to get a better angle. Do UK drivers generally change their style of driving after getting a license? In addition, I noticed that at *every* red light, drivers put the emergency brake on. It honestly just seems exhausting to do, especially if one lives in a large city. In the US, we just hold the brakes until the light turns green. Do some drivers switch to just holding the regular brakes soon after getting a license? Admittedly, I drive an automatic, so I may have a skewed perception.
While i'm not from the UK and I'm on the other side of the world (AU driver). Our road rules are similar to the UK, except we don't do diabolical things like allowing cars to park backwards/opposite of the traffic flow. The hand positions taught here is also typically 9' and 3', both hands must be on the wheel during the test else it's a non-critical/minor fault (note: most states do not grade in that manner; afaik only in the state of Queensland - ie. 3rd most populous state grade things like that). The most populous state NSW tends to just grade through a big checklist of Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory and then tally the scores up at the end; there's even opportunity for students to gain bonus points if they verbally identify hazards and then show good responses to those hazards. Steering with hands inside the wheel or steering with one-hand is a big no-no on the test, and would be counted as a non-critical error. It's not advised to steer with hands inside the inner wheel as it'll cause injury and potentially hamper the effectiveness of the airbag if it deploys. Remember, an airbag only works if your head is falling onto it during its deflationary phase, having an object in-between could obstruct that process. In reality/practice, once people get their license no one is gonna care how you drive the car, so long as you don't cause incidents haha.... Also yeah, so long as blind spot checks are done, assessors/instructors won't care if you put one of your hands on the back of a passanger seat while reversing -- so long as you are in complete control of the vehicle. The most important thing during reversing is you must look back and continue to look back for the first few seconds. These days it's easy to reverse whilst entirely dependent on your rear camera screen and miss the blind-spot checks. The tech is supposed to be a driving aid, they tend to want you to go through the motions in the test. From what I've seen the only time handbrakes are used asides from parking is when we're driving on a significant incline/mountain and need to come to a complete stop. It is then we use hand brake alongside with regular brakes. As a matter of fact, hill-side starts and stops used to be on the driving test several years ago. But it has since been removed from the test as more and more cars now have automatic handbrakes. The funny thing over here is, it's easier to get a high-risk work license like forklift or a recreational pilot license than a driver's license (the costs are higher though). The hour requirements for a driver license is a bit insane (100h-120h) and it simply leads to people fudging their logbooks.
I'm guessing it's the same in every country. Majority of people don't put their hands at the 9 + 3 position. In fact why should they, it's uncomfortable, unless you're racing on a track, one hand is more than enough. Also having both hands on the wheel is one of the many pointless things learner's must do to ensure they pass. I don't know why people rotate their bodies to have a good look of the rear when you can clearly see everything in the rear view mirror. Majority of the people in the UK hate doing blind spot checks yet this is the most important part before moving off. There are multiple points in the car where your view can be blocked and you can miss a child, cyclist or motorbike. Only a small proportion of people apply the handbrake at lights. Usually they stay at the biting point and then move. In modern automatics it's even easier where the car will hold position without doing anything.
@@BWFAIZANSRD for the wheel here you are allowed to do anything basically as long as you maintain control im pretty sure You defo dont need to do 9 + 3 position here to pass
There's a good reason for putting handbrakes on when stopping. Namely that a rear-ender accident would have you flying forward less than without a handbrake. Of course you do this depending on the situation. You also mention that that seems like hassle to do. Well, that just seems like selfish thinking, tbh. You don't drive in a certain way for yourself, but for everyone around you. And hey, putting in more effort generally keeps one more focussed instead of dozing off.
@@brentywenty Just to be sure, are you taught to keep your foot pressed on the brakes when you have the handbrake up? In the US, we aren't taught to put handbrakes up when at red lights, even in older cars that still have them. It just seems...superfluous. If a car is going to hit you at such a speed that you would fly forward from a sedentary position with your foot already pressing down, then I don't think an extra handbrake would help. LOL. And I suppose it might be considered selfish, but certain "rules" can be bent if there is not a significant change in safety, in my opinion. For example, as I previously mentioned, I was taught the standard method to drive with both hands originally, but I almost always drive with one hand (there are some exception based on the road, incelement weather, etc.). I do so because it's more comfortable for me, but my ability to maneuver the vehicle does not significantly decrease to the extent that I should not do it. You could say it's selfish for me to choose to do it, however.
Currently having lessons with Alan, one of the instructors from DGN. I'm very happy with the lessons and having done 7+ hours, I feel quite confortable and confident behind the wheel already, but still have more lessons to do until I'm confident enough to take the test. I'm so glad I went with DGN :)
@10:50 if he already hadn't, Pin was ready to give him his number 🤣. This guy is like me, driving is all about having common sense, if only every driver on the road had a bit of it we'd all get home safe and with a little less stress.

Absolutely Phenomenal Commentary Drive Alex ❤ .I get the vibe that you feel you've been pranked Pin with him being this good 😊Great video as always Pin..wishing you all the Best Alex 😊
Auto hold does not use the parking brake. It locks brake fluid to keep the hydraulic brake lines and can release after a predetermined period or when the car moves
I can finally be one these comments saying thank you for helping me pass! PASSED today with 8 minors 😅 nevertheless, thank you for all these videos and the help you gave me and millions of others! GOD BLESS!
I´m German and got my license 14 years ago. I passed everything first try and have driven thousands and thousands of kilometers since then. I think I would fail every mock test though, especially in the UK. Your streets and traffic in general are just soooo confusing. Feel bad for all you learners out there :-D If you can make it in the UK, you can drive everywhere I guess.
Exactly. Also, these tests are overally restricted. People with driving licence won't remember every rule but they will still drive fine. I don't blame the driver who failed these moch tests just because of confusing roads and pressure from the test. The camera doesn't help either.
@@supernova82 Yes. I also think that the permanent looking for surroundings is distracting from the chaotic traffic in general. I just passed my motorcycle exam and had to completely readjust my driving. I felt a lot more uncomfortable checking every mirror and dead spots every 5 seconds. Doesn’t make sense to me.
Is that a Hyundai Tucson? That's the car I'll be doing my test in Was wondering if the Auto-Hold feature is allowed during your test, instead of engaging the handbrake when waiting
@@SadiaKausar-xz8by yes it is hard to break habits but I passed theory and practical first time in my own car and my mother was in the back at the time... I only had 2 mock tests with instructors one said easy pass the other said I'm too much of a rally driver to ever pass... I sent a text to say I passed first time but never got a response
His reverse parking just reminds me that I don't have to park fast like everyone else does. Like I get really sorta self concious when there are people lining up and I feel I have to park super quickly but it doesn't give enough time for full proper observations (why I failed on my first test, beg I pass on my second in 3 days ahha)
Really nice driving, he seems so confident! One small detail that could see him or anyone fail (At least in Spain were I'm from) is that at 10:50 he is driving with one hand placed on the gear box. I'm not sure if here in the UK the examiner would fail you for that even knowing that one-hand driving is allowed. In Spain the examiner would fail you for it. Other than that, Excellent driving!
I think the same applies in the UK but for doing it once would be a minor fault unless it's continuous or done multiple times. Happy to be corrected though... By the way, his hand is on the gear stick, not the gear box.
I don’t think so, he drives similarly to the way I had driven when I was a learner. I only had only driven for a week before passing my test. My instructor was constantly questioning my driving experience during that week. It really just depends on the person, some people just pick up driving easier than others.
He drives way too slow, or is a granny in disguise. Typical learner slow speed, leaving giant gaps and aggressive breaking. All that goes out the window when you've go some years behind you. Or you just drive like a model pupil doing 50 on a road that has the national speed limit.
@@MO20024There is zero benefit in me lying, I had zero driving experience a week before my test. I had done 21hrs of lessons although I made sure I was prepared before I stepped foot in a car. I made sure I knew the answer to every question in my theory and watched over a hundred of hours of DGN videos, as well as other driving instructor videos.
In some occasions he just casually puts one hand on the steering wheel and the other on the gear stick, that’s not the sort of habit and confidence a learner could have. Learners are tend to grab the steering wheel with both hands due to nervousness and tension. And he wasn’t seemed surprised when informed he’s the best driver so far on this channel. He’s definitely a lot more experienced than 16hrs of lessons, he might even already have a license in his home country but just needs to get a UK one
ive been watching your videos for the past months, i started making great progress with my driving so anyways im gonna get straight in it. Last time i went, i got into the car and we started driving about 10 mins in, i hear multiple beeping my instructor looked at me i looked at him and guess what ? i forgot to put my seat belt on, because in your videos they always have their seat belts on so i assumed i already put it too!!!😂😂

Huge kudos and thank you for allowing others to learn with you on your journey.
should've checked if he actually have a provisional license at the end lol
LOL
HIS VOICE YOU GUYS
Well , lesson learnt .
passed today 1st time with 1 minor, loved these videos they helped a lot, thank you😊
just passed today with only 1 minor for "signals necessary" your videos have helped a bunch
Today I passed my driving test.Your videos helped me a lot.Thank you very much.
Well done and good luck on the test.
Going uphill was my weak point practicing for my exam , now I have my License from 2018 .
Guys push the gas more when going uphill , this prevents the Stalling.
This is something I struggle with so thanks for the tip.
yeah this was hard to understand at the start.
I just passed my test. Thank you for all the help with these videos
this guy has definitely drove before or just naturally very good at driving
Proffsional smash! Well done Alex
i just started watching this channel due to a random recommendation and Im fascinated how different the traffic rules are, especially on roundabouts! In Germany, you never signal when entering roundabouts, only when leaving. and because from the roundabout perspective, each exit is to your right, you always signal right. Also, no test in Germany would ever be failed for bad signals.
So , do you have roundabouts with different lanes for different exits ?
@@zm_headhunter no. most roundabouts only have 1 lane. since we drive on the right side and you can only exit the roundabout towards the right, then if you signal and leave on one exit, the person wanting to enter through the same exit is not blocked by you. and if you dont want to exit, they have to wait, because you always have to yield to traffic when you want to enter a roundabout.
Amazing... Just amazing!
For a experienced driver
I passed last year but I’m still watching your videos 😊
Especially this video, this one is the best ❤️❤️❤️
He is one of the best student drivers i've seen, but in hungary for the one handed driving you would fail immediately, still he's a really great driver. Nice job bro
They fail you for that here too! Not sure why he's getting away with it in this video
how to shift if you cant one hand
@@sueloader6277you’re allowed to drive with one hand as long as you are still in full control of the car, you won’t fail for that unless you using one hand to drive is making it dangerous
@kexinguo9810 ok, you believe that
“Rule 160 of the Highway Code states that you must drive with both hands on the wheel whenever practicable. This means that while driving with one hand is not illegal, it is typically accepted as best practice for safe driving.” - so not illegal, maybe try learning more about the highway code?
I passed today pin, first time, all thanks to ur videos
Passed first time on the 8th July your videos have certainly helped me in many ways thank you 🎉❤
Alex did good.😅
Thank you for coming on this YT video.
My personal favourite on channel was Tash.😮
Her video was a good watch. :)
Edit update
Cat a good pass video in 7th January was good too!
Quality learner driver. Really good standard and positive attitude. No problem with sharing a road with this young man.
I have my driving test today in 2 hours and watching this is really helpful ❤
Best instructor around 💯
I just passed my driving test this morning with 3 minors, thanks for your videos. I'll just say during the test don't think you are in a test just think you are normally driving or giving a mock test to your instructor to ease your nerves (that's the most important thing). Once you have driven from any road just forget about it and focus in front (doesn't matter if you have made a mistake or not, just forget about it).
He was prepared for everything at his time now. Bro is the example of future dad one day
Passed this time last week with one major!! … still watching 😊
Well done Alex . Fantastic driving bro 👊🏽
passed my test today 8 minors im so glad to be a part of the “passed but still watching” gang
ty for helping me with the vids so happy
@@BWFAIZANSRD for the wheel here you are allowed to do anything basically as long as you maintain control im pretty sure
You defo dont need to do 9 + 3 position here to pass
Amazing driver but he’s right about the signs and signals need more work but for driving itself S tier
I like him he look a like a great guy it was nice to have him on this video now if anyone isn’t sure about driving they should watch this video I also recommend to watch ur channel and this video because I also just passed my theory test on Jul 20 and got 43/50 I’m theory and 57/75 in the hazard perception I’m so happy I can’t believe I passed it’s surreal also I did a practice version and didn’t pass because I revised little so I recommend to revise before u take the test and in the car also, I recommend to do it online on a computer and get the theory test app that how I did it and I could see the hazards much clear since it’s big screen
10:50 Good work on the course Pin you putting a lot effort in it
Absolutely Phenomenal Commentary Drive Alex ❤ .I get the vibe that you feel you've been pranked Pin with him being this good 😊Great video as always Pin..wishing you all the Best Alex 😊
Auto hold does not use the parking brake. It locks brake fluid to keep the hydraulic brake lines and can release after a predetermined period or when the car moves
Didn't know that. I do know at least in my VW, auto hold doesn't work if you don't have your seatbelt on.
I can finally be one these comments saying thank you for helping me pass! PASSED today with 8 minors 😅 nevertheless, thank you for all these videos and the help you gave me and millions of others! GOD BLESS!
It's nice to see the roads I'm actually driving on these vids very helpful :-)
Being confident and calm is the key for the perfect driving test
quite the heavy breather aye! x) gj
amazing, only thing was slight clutch riding near the start but guess it'll go when used to the biting point, good job Alex 👍
Brilliant Alex!
That's the car I'll be doing my test in
Was wondering if the Auto-Hold feature is allowed during your test, instead of engaging the handbrake when waiting
Alex here is using risk triggered commentry. Really helps a lot of learners work out the risks out loud 😊
When you learn to drive independently as a child it saves time in future
you got a point...
That's not always the case. Some drivers who learn early on hold onto bad habits that disrupts getting a license early on.
I just passed my test first time today and this video really helped with my nerves. Pin the 🐐
Well done on passing your test
May god helps everyone to pass and don’t be scared have confidence ❤️❤️
Yo man, just passed my test on first try with 3 minors. Bought your course, watched your videos and they helped. Drove with my own shoes though 😅
At the min 10 Hi has on hand in the steering wheel for quite a minute, and he still past the test, seriously 😮
Good move around when u drive 😀
This guy needs to sell a course on good sitting posture 😂😂
His reverse parking just reminds me that I don't have to park fast like everyone else does. Like I get really sorta self concious when there are people lining up and I feel I have to park super quickly but it doesn't give enough time for full proper observations (why I failed on my first test, beg I pass on my second in 3 days ahha)
i will say this is second best, the other one is the best
Which one?
Good video ever
Good job I got my test today hopefully I pass been watching your videos. I feel a bit nervous.
@@DanielBarham-ej7yj nah it doesnt cause a minor or a fail, u can drive with one hand as long as you maintain full control
Great details
Missed ur videos! Took my license 5 years ago and didn’t drive ever since so I came back 🤣
Alex is a liar he is experienced driver 10000000000% 🤭
I don’t think so, he drives similarly to the way I had driven when I was a learner. I only had only driven for a week before passing my test. My instructor was constantly questioning my driving experience during that week. It really just depends on the person, some people just pick up driving easier than others.
@@grams969
Means you drove a car before 100% and that good thing anyways 👍
The blind spot checking is so exaggerated in the UK. I don’t get the point of almost constantly checking the blind spots 😂
nice driving i totally learned something
Alex was definitely a knight in his past life with all that aura 😂😂
ive been watching your videos for the past months, i started making great progress with my driving so anyways im gonna get straight in it. Last time i went, i got into the car and we started driving about 10 mins in, i hear multiple beeping my instructor looked at me i looked at him and guess what ? i forgot to put my seat belt on, because in your videos they always have their seat belts on so i assumed i already put it too!!!😂😂
