Basic 3 speed automatic transmission - GearBlocks

- So, the idea came to me while watching a video using centrifugal clutches to build an automatic transmission. I thought while under load, input speed might lower as soon as it entered a gear and maybe throwing it out. So, I started thinking of another way and came up with this. The way it works is by using a worm gear and a clutch gear, I can control how much the lever slips. this gives me the 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear changes. With the spring, it keeps pressure on the lever to get it back into 1st gear. with some adjusting, I found a good balance between the gear position relative to the rpm. The spring dampening also helps with jerky gear and rpm changes.

Great idea!!! Gonna try it out and make a 3 speed then add a half gear step so I can make a 7 speed :D
This somewhat enhanced my understanding of how one works
Real automatic transmissions work differently but as of now, this is as close as I can get.

I normally don’t add my builds to the workshop as I just like to build random stuff most of the time but feel free to copy the design. I can start adding the specs on the clutch, spring and motor if needed.
