Thank you for this video. Got my m50 markii few days ago. Watched many tutorials but yours was the first I practiced. Hope to see more videos from you on how to use my m50 efficiently to achieve better results. I'm considering starting a RUclips channel n I'm glad I made the best choice with my budget.
For me, this video was brilliantly laid out, thank you! My wife and I spent the last seven years (pre-covid) volunteering in a women’s prison. We learned how to use power point at a respectable level to bring them videos within and so many others things with music and beautiful gems of truth. Anyway, now desire to video messages of hope and encouragement. Been perusing RUclips videos for weeks for the right equipment and setup, and you brought it all to gather in really important small visual details that I was trying to understand … to get moving. Feel confident enough to move forward now. Subscribed, blessings to you and your family🙏
Omg this is so helpful! I’ve been struggling with this camera. Can’t get rid of the background/white noise. Also I’m making ASMR videos so sometimes I want to film in low light but the video quality turns out horrible and I don’t know how to fix it 😫
For Video. IN MANUAL - set the exposure settings to record a single shot. To record video just press the record button on the top of the camera. This will record video perfectly. I've recorded at 1/8 second at f/8 video and it is perfect. It is a video camera.
Bought this camera and gear because of you Meredith. Used your aff links, hope it helps. I like your style and no bs. Thanks for talking through things like you did here. Also followed you on twitter. Appreciate you.
@@meredithmarsh Just got all the gear in and did my settings as you show here. Thanks for giving me some quick confidence on getting started. I can see there is a lot I could get bogged down in but this vid help cut to the chase. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video I learned so much. How do i set the M50 in video mode so it is facing me like a selfie. Right now it is focued at the wall across the room. Thank you!
Thank you your videos. I am new to this and find it the best. I have a question. If you are not streaming or live, should the HDMI info disp be turned OFF? Kurt
Thanks! I’m not sure what the brand is on that, it’s nothing special. I use the Master Mount now, which you can find in my “Best RUclips Creator Gear for 2023” list at vidpromom.com/gear
Thank you! I just got my wife this camera and our first yt video on it looked slightly worse than iphone 😅, upping the fps, switching the auto focus settings to your suggestion, and (don’t judge me) switching to movie mode to record seem to have fixed our issues and now it looks way better. I’ll definitely be going back to your audio section as well. Thanks!
Really get a lot out of your M50 tutorials Ms. Meredith! Did I mention that I traded my M50 Mk I in for the Mk II? I know it wasn't a very big upgrade, but I specifically needed (wanted?) the clean HDMI out. Thanks for makig great content Ms. Meredith, and this 2-year old video is still relevant for me today. 💜
i watched a lot of videos about this camera all of them just talk about numbers or such a lot of tech info for new person in cameras your videos are the best they are simple so short like this the real info for anyone looking for the first time for camera to buy, and i wasnt able to pick this camera or sony zv-1 but after this video i will get m50 for sure i think it will be better for my channel and maybe some streaming, thank you
Thankfully canon cameras are so simple to use compared to some other brands. All the videos I have shot on my channel have all been shot with the M50 and EOS R. I like the features in the Sony cameras but I'm a bit intimidated due to what I have heard about Sony menu systems.
Thank you for not being too camera nerdy! I mean it. This video makes me feel like camera settings are manageable! I have two questions: I usually live stream 95% of my content and just use webcams. I need four for different stations. But I wouldn’t mind having one nice camera. I tried recording video with my canon rebel but it stops after a few minutes. Is this just a storage card thing? And maybe I can’t even use it for live streams it’s at least five years old. I’m not sure that’s enough info but hopefully. I’d at least like to experiment with it recording video before I buy a new one. But it just stops! My other question- the webcams are easy to position so I can have an overhead view of my work surface but I still haven’t found a tripod that can shoot pointing straight down. Have you come across one? Thanks I appreciate it very much!
I just got the m50 mark ii for live streaming through obs and wanted to know if there’s a way to keep the flip out display on for more than 30 minutes?
Thanks Ed. I probably shot that with the m6 mark ii since I only have one m50 mark ii so I can shoot with it and show it at the same time 😆 but they very similar cameras in a lot of ways
hello Meredith, just found out your channel recently and am loving it coz i am a canon user. just bought my m50 mark II last week. i hv a 16-35mm L series lens, is it same as the 16mm sigma you are recommending? thanks and have a nice weekend. God bless ❤️
Hey this is a nice simple video tutorial on how to get started with video recording!! Thanks for simplifying it since I’m wanting to start a RUclips channel and I’ve decided the Canon EOS M50 Mark II is a good place to start Vlogging / recording sitting home. I do have a couple questions if ya don’t mind 1. 2:19 When you went to sound recording to change the volume rate to 12 was that the sound recording from your external device that you had plugged into your camera? I’ve always wondered if the camera automatically picks up the audio sound if you had an external audio device plugged into it. 2. Does that audio automatically import with the videos you make to Adobe premiere or whatever editing software you use or does the Audio and video files upload to the PC separately.
Thanks!! No, the camera itself doesnt pick up your audio if you have a mic plugged in. The audio is attached with the video, whether you have a mic plugged in or whether you’re using the camera mic. Hope that helps!!
Thank you! Subbed you!!! ✔️Such a useful video.. My g7x mk II died after a good 4 years.. looking to get the next camera.. so I'm thinking of getting this m50 mk ii.. what's your thought??
Hi, great video thank you , can you help me the movie rec quality of FHD 29.97 is not there for me to select in the menu , I have 4 options but not that one, am I doing something wrong ?
This is so helpful but I'm having issues with my mic. When I connect the external mic, it doesn't get any audio. I've followed your steps with the sounding recording and I put it in manual but it still doesn't recognize and sound. What should I do? I'm using the Lavalier lapel mic from Amazon
I get my shot all lined up but then i hit record (for video) and then on the display the zoom and resolution changes from what i had before. How do i make the display screen show me what the Video shot is going to be before i hit record
Anyone know why my videos have an orange tint when I select manual white balance and filing indoors with regular lighting from ceiling lightbulbs? But once I switch it to AUTO, everything looks good.
Now I have a question. When you do slightly longer videos like around 10 - 15 minutes long, is it normal for it to take a while for the video to be ready on the memory card at all? What I mean is that when I have shot 20 minute videos, I have gone to import the video to a folder and it comes back with 0MB on the video. It is not able to be used. Other times I have filmed 10 - 15 minute videos and it might say 2.5 GB but when I go to play it on my computer straight away, it can't or won't play. I discovered that if I remove the memory card and place that into my computer and not use the cable, I can then export it from the card to my desired folder. The only problem is when it says 0 MB. Their doesn't seem to have any data at all. What am I doing wrong? I use a 128 GB SDXC card with 80s MBs. Should I perhaps look at getting a bigger card? Maybe a 250 GB with 170 MBs
Quick question (what is a "quick question" anyway? Lol!): Do you not try to block out light from your windows (during daylight hours) when making talking head vids? And do you not turn off all other ambient light such as room light fixtures, ceiling lights, etc?
Question , I have a new m50 mk ii but when I turn it on I have a buzz noise / sound at the battery , does your camera have a weird electric sound at the battery when turned on? I fon t know if to return it or not
