That was one of the funniest moments on Letterman. Love the guy and he's hilarious, but the sheer "what" that I uttered at my TV was followed by one of the single biggest laughs I had. I'd be lying if I said tears weren't streaking down my face and that rarely happens. Cheers to Dave, Eddie, and the band. So wonderful.

It's crazy how many careers in entertainment in general he's helped. Comics, bands, actors....I know Norm Macdonald LOVED Dave and felt he owed him everything. Came on to do the last comedy set for Daves last episode even (and you know it meant a lot to Norm as his voice broke twice when he almost started crying and had to stop to compose himself and was in tears by the time Dave came over to hug him, which is probably the only time I've ever seen Norm break "character"). It's worth watching and very sweet, also sad being that Norms gone now.

@@splinteredspace3469 The awards shows are, but this is a bit different. And if the awards shows are BS (which I agree with), why the fuck are you bringing up the fact they never won anything as if that should keep them out of the Hall of Fame? It's a little different than awards shows and would be a nice thing to do. But ultimately it's pretty meaningless too. Nobody has ever said "That band was awesome"..."Well yeah, but they aren't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" as if it's somehow a judge of talent or how much fans love them. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that whoever profits the most from the rock and roll hall of fame is NOT a musician. Probably someone or someones that none of us have ever heard of who doesn't give a fuck who does or doesn't get inducted, just as long as they can keep collecting $$$

I was 8 when ten came out. My older brother had it, I'd sit outside his room listening to it while he was listening to it, I wasn't allowed to listen to it but I didn't care it was amazing. Jeremy was the first rock song I wanted to hear over and over and over again, that, heart shaped box by nirvana, no rain by blind melon, last dance with Mary Jane by Tom petty and the heartbreakers, I was barely ten, but those were the songs that got me through a lot of bullying and made me want to sing and play piano. Music is magical.

Idea by the show author and composer. A pure ironic critic to their ignorance of their success creator, who wished once to receive a letter with a guitar, but never did. playing violin projected on Letterman's son (similar age of the composer years ago) was a metaphor for playing First Violin as author anyway.

I feel a sense of gratitude that my wife introduced me to a CD in 1981 called Ten. I was so blown away by the songs, lyrics the entire experience of blasting this music in my ears changed me profoundly and all these years later still blown away by this group. I have listened to there music every single day since 91 during my commute to work Ventura to Santa Barbara on my prize possession my 59 knucklehead for 32 years! Yesterday was my last day to jump on my bike and commute 29 miles to work as I am now officially retired at the young age 61. Filled with emotions wondering what this next chapter will bring but one thing that won't change is my love for this band. I'll still jump on my bike their music blasting my ears my bike vibrating under me , not a half bad life. Thank you Pearl Jam for 32 years of keeping my company during my commute. I'm a lucky man because my wife and 5 daughter's will surround me thru my retirement and for certain pearl jam will be playing in the background😁👍. Here's to the next chapter in life and my upcoming golden years, yep I'm a lucky man👍. One love ♥️

The fact that you have David Letterman, a talkshow host (which I do not say in a demeaning way), inducting you, not just one of your fellow artists, and you managed to have impressed him enough to do so pretty much tells you all you need to know about them.
Also pretty sure everyone has that "du du du du" moment once in a while, I sure do have it every single time I see them play live still! One of the best bands ever, nothing but respect for them musically and from a humanitarian point of view we could go on for ages and ages really. They are an example to all of us.

I was there that night, and while I was at first very disappointed that my dream of seeing Neil and PJ share the stage was over, I truly believe that what Dave brought to the table, Neil wouldn't have come close. Fantastic, honest, genuine words from a true fan, that has been there since the start. Great Job Letterman and a truly magical night in Brooklyn all around.
