This is so bitter sweet, so deserved, terrible that Yauch was too sick to attend this moment. The Beastie Boys were the soundtrack to my formative years. I remember sneaking out telling my mum I was staying at my friends house and going to watch the Beasties when they were considered hellraisers, my bestie told her folks the same and off we went! We saw them again in 95 after Ill communication came out. It was an incredible experience.

I saw Beastie Boy at Lollapalooza 94. I just remember thinking after watching them do Watcha Want, Sabotage, and Gratitude. How the heck is anyone going to beat that? Well Smashing Pumpkins were under whelming and Billy Corgan was talking about how he had sex and was a rock star and his band was pretty much asleep for their set.

The Beasties used to go down to Rock clubs in the early 80s where it was full on Rock and Punk scene. There is where the Beastie boys heard the first hip hop records being played over the loud speakers. it's crazy to think that in clubs where it was mainly Rock, they would play Hip Hop to rock fans. That's rock for you, they bring exposure to things that mainstream media wouldn't necessarily be covering. This is coming full circle for them tho, starting as a punk band and then evolving into a hip hop group. well deserved. RIP to MCA (Adam Yauch) and may the boys carry on their legacy any which way they can. Rock on \m/

Nightclub DJs have only one job - to keep people dancing. It's the ultimate meritocracy. If your record makes people dance, it gets played. In the 80s, it could have been U2, Michael Jackson, David Bowie or Grandmaster Flash. Back to back to back. Great era (but maybe I'm biased).

I remember the emails from Oscope asking people to pray at the same time at a certain hour all together and send healing energy. @Robert Anthony - yeah ok buttercup, i'll remain misinformed. I'm in no way a medical expert but from my personal experience, I'll stick with modern medicine over natural remedies when it comes to fighting the big c. Chemo and radiation treatment are brutal that is a given, but if it gives you a fighting chance to spend more time with ones you love, why wouldn't you give it a crack? Funnily enough I've known a number of people that have opted for natural treatments, and in every instance it ended quickly. I know more who have chosen modern medicine and low and behold most extended their lives for a minimum of 5 years with a majority in full remission and still walking this earth today. You do you and stick to your kale smoothies and hippy oil remedies when the time comes to fight it, let us know how it pans out.
