It's another movie, you probably should watch to get full context of how this built up, it happens during the finale of the film. It's fun to see you react again once you have the full context of a song if it's part of an actual film or TV show. To be fair it's fun to see you react in the first place, keep up the good work.
The movie was set in the early 2000s and they did a lot of work to get the music to match that vibe. It's been very nostalgic listening to the OST for this movie because it takes me to my early teens when I was into all the boybands XD My favorite part though is how the chanting keeps going and if you listen closely enough you can hear it all the way through as the foundation of the whole piece.
It gets super quiet at parts and is honestly easier to hear in the movie itself vs the soundtrack version (in the movie you can also more clearly hear Mei and her friends' singing and it just adds a nice touch I feel is lacking in this version)

Not only is it the transition from one type of music to the 90s boy band music that is perfect, but the way they incorporated the chanting from the aunties in the movie so smoothly into the 90s music, tbh i think this version of Nobody Like U just hits different, and represents the main character Meilin really well by showing off multiple sides of her and her life and how she can bring them together!
Yeah, they really got that across so well. Mei's whole core concept was that she couldn't just turn her back on Chinese culture - it's a PART of her, no matter where she goes. But she also can't let that culture bar her from the Western culture she was born into and is growing up in. She is BOTH.
I definitely recommend Ludwig’s song called simply “Turning Red” or “U know what’s up / U know what’s up the panda hustle version” Honestly this movie had one of my favorite movie OSTs in a long time
I know it's passed and many people might forget it. But i would love to hear your opinions on the songs from "Over The Moon". Especially "Love Someone New" which is the emotional turn near the end of the film. All the music is amazing though and you should really give it a look at

One song I can't recommend enough that I think you'll freak out over is Vs. Yinu from No Straight Roads. It's a classical music boss battle and my favorite song on the soundtrack. All the boss songs from the game are amazing though, encapsulating genres from synthwave to funk to hard rock, and I think you'd enjoy all of the ways the people who worked on it built up this universe through the music alone.
