That's actually because some of the characters designes were influenced by their VA. The animators did that on purpose, which is so cool!! It was said in the behind the scenes documentary!! 😊😊
I love Vanders character, JB Blanc did SUCH a good job, i felt the real care and love in his voice even in the tough scenes, they chose good, i cant wait for season 2 🤩
Jinx's coat tho at 1:41. I know it's concept art and all, but imagine if she were to be willingly exiled from Piltover and just ran away to find new meaning and purpose in life while roaming Runeterra. And the creators decided to put on her that coat. Smells like a great way to write a good redemption arc for her in case they decide to turn her into a central character in every upcoming season.
This show is one of the best cartoon series that i have watched this year! I'm really looking forward to season 2! There are so many things that makes this an amazing show like animation and visuals are beautiful, from the cities to the characters. What I especially enjoyed was how expressive the characters are. Many shows rely on speaking information outload to get it across to the audience- Arcane doesn't do that. It can communicate everything it needs to through it's characters facial expressions and their body language thought scenes. The action is enjoyable, it never felt over the top or boring. The action is pretty unique for each fighting scene and always hits the right note

All of the voice actors were amazing, most notably Hailee Steinfeild and Ella Purnell at the forefront of the show. But huge props to the young VA Mia Sinclair Jenness voicing Powder. She was phenomenal, and her performance in Episode 3 was gutwrenching, heartbreaking, which goes to show how talented she is. She definitely got me crying
I got to meet both JB Blanc, Ekko's voic actor, and Silco this past fall when they came to my city for comic con and got to sit in the Arcane panel to get inside scoops behind the scenes of season 1. And one tibit I learned in that Arcane panel, is Jason Spisak said that in order for him to find Silco's angle and doing his voice, which I now see when I rewatch season 1. He channels his voice like smoke that fills the room and manipulates those around him as influences.
You know, i completely forgot that the first few episodes were on Powder before Jinx. When Powder first feels abandoned and when she's scolded later - the crying done by the voice talent - I mean damn that's scary
The animation is what stands out the most in this. It's incredible. The animators deserve more recognition than anyone else. It's sad that the actors get all the light.
It pains me how little we have seen these people talk about their roles in Arcane. Hopefully some of them gets the chance after season II has finished airing. Amazing cast!
As much as I love Jinx, as a lesbian I've got to go with Vi. I also loved the fact that Vi had a body type that fit who she was as a character. Jinx did too, but I find that it's easier to find skinny women in animated shows/movies than women who work out a lot and have that muscle shown in the way Vi did. Arcane is just a masterpiece all around.
Jinx was fantastic. It was a tough assignment to have that manic pixie menace without spilling into cartoonishness. Powder was even better. Gut wrenching. Vi was the best. Anyone could have played Vi, but this particular performance added so much warmth and rich texture. She elevates the character and the script. She brought Vi to life and gave her emotional range, plus sexiness, swagger, and vulnerability.
An absolute incredible masterpiece of a show. As someone who watches shows nonstop and has watched hundreds I can safely say that Arcane is by far the best show I have ever seen

I kinda dig how so many actors who used to think of videogames as a "career-ender" are getting involved with videogame adaptions lately. After so many years of shit adaptions, it feels like we're finally turning the ship around with Netflix' Arcane, HBO's The Last of Us and Amazon's Fallout as well as the "Secret Level" show releasing in december.
Just earing these voice makes all the emotions come back all at once. I may have to watch this a fourth time, juste to put it all in good order. Arcane is one of the best if nto the best show of these last years, animated or otherwise. It is that good.

If I had to choose a side between Jinx and Vi, I would have to side with Jinx over Vi. But it is a hard decision because I relate to both characters the most. I am a zookeeper in chicago and I regularly feed the hippos day old sausages so they have a taste of their home. I put strings on the sausages and swing them around the hippos they get so mad at me and scream but it's an obsession sometimes the hippos try and break out of their cages but I keep swinging those hotdogs in wide circles over their heads. Luckily my boss doesn't know I do this
