I have yet to get around watching Arcane all the way through, I can't remember her in that but looking forward to it more now. She was amazing in Yellowjackets and I binged Fallout about as fast as I could and she's great in that too but the whole show and cast of Fallout is great. So happy it did well with critics, should guarantee season 2 if not season 3.

She is a Fallout fan, that's why. An interviewer asked her if playing the games to prepare for her role was a waste of time and she seemed genuinely offended that someone would even suggest that. Honestly perfect pick for the show.
I hope Hollywood doesn't corrupt her. She has a charm that's very rare.

Loads of comments already singing Ella's well deserved praises over her performance in Fallout, so I'm going to give props to Dale Dickey for her work as Ma June in Fallout (the older woman in the clip at the end of this video). She's one of the best character actors alive, and she always elevates the scenes she's in.
I wanted to say the same thing, she is unreal, hope we have not seen the end of her.
the show did such a good job of making every side character memorable. felt just like the games where you walk around meeting characters with just a couple voice lines who end up being iconic.

I just binged FALLOUT over the weekend and LOVED IT, totally unique and wonderful. She created such a good lovable character. wished they had the 2nd season in the chamber but it wont be ready until 2025.

Agreed! She has real life anime eyes in some ways. They're big eyes, but more importantly they're very expressive. Combine that with her capability as a voice actor, and you have one really killer package. She's an excellent actor.

I am that co-star she was talking about (blush) I Love Ella So Much! I was in the film "WildLike" with her when she was 15 up here in Alaska! ❤She has built an Amazing Career and I am so proud of her. I would LOVE to be in FallOut with her now that she is all grown up beautiful woman! She starred in Tim Burtons Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children as Emma and so much more ❤
WildLike filmed all over Juneau, Alaska but my dog Skadi & I scene with Ella and Brian Geraghty we filmed by "Skaters Cabin" - because we filmed out by the the Mendenhall Glacier the day before we and the Entire Set "cast and crew" got ran off by a momma bear with 2 Cubs who walked thru the set! (Fun Film Fact) WildLike is a great Film, her and Bruce Greenwood really were such powerful performances and the film crew captured Alaska perfectly bringing scenes to life as also a living character in the performance. Visionary Director and Producers.

It's weird to say this but, Fallout was actually a solid adaptation. I really enjoyed the first season and I can't wait for season 2. Ella is a fantastic actress. She did a really good job on the show

Sad were in a world where putting effort into creating a good adaption is rare.

The great thing about it is that they created a whole new story set in the universe, rather than adapt one of the games storylines into the series which probably would’ve failed due to the amount of different things that occur within them. But creating this story within an already established world was the best choice possible.

They still managed to sneak in some woke topics. Interracial couples, most women are strong leaders and most men are timid and meek (with the exception of ghoul, but he's the only exception). Lucy kinda is a Nancy Sue, but... compared to the games, I've let that one slide. The player kinda is as well haha.
Ella Purnell absolutely stole the show in Fallout. She was fantastic and nailed the strong female lead archetype.
She did it first in Arcane, I haven't watched Fallout yet but Lucy has a job ahead of her if she's going to compete with Ella's portrayal as Jynx in the badassery stakes.
Didn’t really steal the show as Walton goggins was also amazing and more than held his own. Ella was great tho

Nah. She's a class act but there are so many great performances in the series. Walton Goggins. Aaron Moten (the weaker of the 3 but still good), the guy that played Norm MacLean, and countless amazing character actors like the old lady at Filly
It's not "strong female lead" you're trying to say but "good female character".
A "strong" female lead is something like Brie Larson as Capt Marvel or Daisy Ridley as whatever she was in Disney Star Wars.
Basically a "strong female lead" is a bad character portrayed by a bad actress.
Purnell's Lucy in Fallout is totally opposite of a "strong female lead". She walks out of the Vault with training in various fields, but utterly naive and clueless and totally unprepared to survive in the wasteland.
Her character has an arc with development, failures and learning and situations where she makes a bad decision because her only choices are bad and worse (no good "hero" choice).
These are things the Larson and Ridley characters mentioned above completely lack. Purnell also has the chops to sell it. When she has to do something that she feels bad about and can't find a way around it, WE feel it with her.
Her voice acting as Jinx from Arcane, is phenomenal!

What a refreshing change, not only to have an actress come through who is beautiful (subjectively, looking at other people's comments; but I'd certainly class her so), and intelligent, but also holds a huge respect and admiration for the source material. She seems really excited to be part of the project, like any true fan and wastelands veteran would. I've only watched the first episode so far, looking forwards to the rest of the series and anything else Ella may appear in.

she's very adorable. I just wish she didn't have her nose done in the past, it kind of messes up her face a little. Nose is too thin now, makes her eyes look real big, and causes her face to be a little flat, and push her lips out and up. She looked much better before the nose job.

She’s not the main, she’s one of the leads. the show has 3 different leads providing 3 different perspectives: the brotherhood of steel, vault dweller, and the ghoul.
She was perfect in Yellowjackets, as the cheerleader I hated in high school. Would never have guessed she was British, perfect American accent.

It's so refreshing to see an interview where the actor actually discusses the project they're in, rather than veering off into completely different topics.
I was dreading this show when it was first announced, because I thought it would be a flop. It really warms my heart to see that the team working on and behind the scenes actually understand the source material and handle it with care.
I didn't know who she was before seeing the show, but wow is she perfect for the role. That positive, bubbly vibe (as Lucy) is insane.
That wedding cake though. That was the highlight of the whole intro.

Yeah, more than game-to-show conversions tend to get, but that's changing. Twisted Metal, The Last of Us and the first season of The Witcher come to mind. The industry is finally gaining some respect for the art form after so long disrespecting and dismissing it. Reporters haven't caught up yet though. One of them stopped her on the red carpet and asked, "So, you played the games to understand the lore before the show. Would you say it was a total waste of time?" She actually looked offended.
She got the part because she trapped them in the room with her for 45 mins and they got to know the real amazing person she is.
I am a huge fan of the Fallout games and they really knocked this show out of the park. Everyone involved clearly love and respect the games and Ella is a pure delight to watch. 10/10!

It's amazing to me how there are so many British actors out there who can do flawless American accents but I don't think I've ever seen an American actor pull of a British accent that didn't sound fake.
It is crazy that Fallout is now something that a lot of people outside of the gaming community know about! I hope that this will encourage them to try the game. I have always said that the Fallout world makes for a really good TV series and I am so happy to see it come into realisation :)
A friend of mine decided to try one of the games, Fallout 4, out after watching the show and is loving it. Although for awhile he didn’t know what V.A.T.S and I had to tell him 😂
@@austincaldwell4258 Careful with 4 if they are playing on PS5. Two of the DLCs have corrupted coding that cause the game to crash during startup. It will most likely be fixed when they release the next-gen updates in 2 weeks, but until then don't install the Automatron or Wasteland Workshop DLCs (the other DLC are fine).

I play Fallout 76, and when the show dropped there was a huge influx of new players.
Apparently, all of the Fallout games currently playing figures have gone up by about 400%.
I think it is awesome that so many new people are playing.
I know some people who are not gamers, who have decided to play Fallout. Which I think is cool.
I also love that non-gamers are loving the show too.
