(Fun Film Fact) WildLike is a great Film, her and Bruce Greenwood really were such powerful performances and the film crew captured Alaska perfectly bringing scenes to life as also a living character in the performance. Visionary Director and Producers.

Loads of comments already singing Ella's well deserved praises over her performance in Fallout, so I'm going to give props to Dale Dickey for her work as Ma June in Fallout (the older woman in the clip at the end of this video). She's one of the best character actors alive, and she always elevates the scenes she's in.
the show did such a good job of making every side character memorable. felt just like the games where you walk around meeting characters with just a couple voice lines who end up being iconic. The snake oil salesman was my favourite
It's weird to say this but, Fallout was actually a solid adaptation. I really enjoyed the first season and I can't wait for season 2. Ella is a fantastic actress. She did a really good job on the show EDIT: "Why is that weird?": Because videogame adaptations usually turn out like crap
The great thing about it is that they created a whole new story set in the universe, rather than adapt one of the games storylines into the series which probably would’ve failed due to the amount of different things that occur within them. But creating this story within an already established world was the best choice possible.
They still managed to sneak in some woke topics. Interracial couples, most women are strong leaders and most men are timid and meek (with the exception of ghoul, but he's the only exception). Lucy kinda is a Nancy Sue, but... compared to the games, I've let that one slide. The player kinda is as well haha.

I just binged FALLOUT over the weekend and LOVED IT, totally unique and wonderful. She created such a good lovable character. wished they had the 2nd season in the chamber but it wont be ready until 2025.
The UK has a different accent every 10 miles or so. Putting on accents is something that British actors learn early on in their careers. An American accent is just another variant, which actually has its origins in a West Country English accent.

Americans could do as good of a job imitating our accent if they bothered to study it first. There's an expression with realistic drawing 'draw what you see not what you think you see' that is observe and pay attention to how it really is because your assumptions are wrong... The same applies to accents. You need to study them to convincingly portray them.

She seems really excited to be part of the project, like any true fan and wastelands veteran would. Ella Purnell is an amazing actress! Absolutely love her energetic personality, real relaxed, chill vibe about her, she seems like someone you would have a great time to hang out with for sure. She was amazing as Jinx in Arcane, Army of the Dead and absolutely stole the show in Fallout as Lucy. 👏👏👏👏

Nah. She's a class act but there are so many great performances in the series. Walton Goggins. Aaron Moten (the weaker of the 3 but still good), the guy that played Norm MacLean, and countless amazing character actors like the old lady at Filly
It's not "strong female lead" you're trying to say but "good female character". A "strong" female lead is something like Brie Larson as Capt Marvel or Daisy Ridley as whatever she was in Disney Star Wars. Basically a "strong female lead" is a bad character portrayed by a bad actress. Purnell's Lucy in Fallout is totally opposite of a "strong female lead". She walks out of the Vault with training in various fields, but utterly naive and clueless and totally unprepared to survive in the wasteland. Her character has an arc with development, failures and learning and situations where she makes a bad decision because her only choices are bad and worse (no good "hero" choice). These are things the Larson and Ridley characters mentioned above completely lack. Purnell also has the chops to sell it. When she has to do something that she feels bad about and can't find a way around it, WE feel it with her.
I thought it was Jenna when I first saw the trailer, I loved her as Clara in Doctor Who. Ella is a great new face and her doe eyed confusion is a really funny contrast to the rest of the stuff going on in the wasteland

you can't really compare any American accent to the likes of scouse, geordie, Glaswegian etc even us Brits struggle to pull them off. I have a Barnsley accent, Sean Bean without the posh Hollywood tweaks.

She’s not the main, she’s one of the leads. the show has 3 different leads providing 3 different perspectives: the brotherhood of steel, vault dweller, and the ghoul.
I am a huge fan of the Fallout games and they really knocked this show out of the park. Everyone involved clearly love and respect the games and Ella is a pure delight to watch. 10/10!

Just finished Fallout. It is the best show ever. I have played Fallout since I was 5 years old and it captures the feel of the games perfectly while giving an entirely new storyline. Starting over episode 1 tomorrow ❤
Yeah, more than game-to-show conversions tend to get, but that's changing. Twisted Metal, The Last of Us and the first season of The Witcher come to mind. The industry is finally gaining some respect for the art form after so long disrespecting and dismissing it. Reporters haven't caught up yet though. One of them stopped her on the red carpet and asked, "So, you played the games to understand the lore before the show. Would you say it was a total waste of time?" She actually looked offended.
It is crazy that Fallout is now something that a lot of people outside of the gaming community know about! I hope that this will encourage them to try the game. I have always said that the Fallout world makes for a really good TV series and I am so happy to see it come into realisation :)
A friend of mine decided to try one of the games, Fallout 4, out after watching the show and is loving it. Although for awhile he didn’t know what V.A.T.S and I had to tell him 😂
@@austincaldwell4258 Careful with 4 if they are playing on PS5. Two of the DLCs have corrupted coding that cause the game to crash during startup. It will most likely be fixed when they release the next-gen updates in 2 weeks, but until then don't install the Automatron or Wasteland Workshop DLCs (the other DLC are fine).
I play Fallout 76, and when the show dropped there was a huge influx of new players. Apparently, all of the Fallout games currently playing figures have gone up by about 400%. I think it is awesome that so many new people are playing. I know some people who are not gamers, who have decided to play Fallout. Which I think is cool. I also love that non-gamers are loving the show too. I’ve been a Fallout fan for a very long time.

A "strong" female lead is something like Brie Larson as Capt Marvel or Daisy Ridley as whatever she was in Disney Star Wars.
Basically a "strong female lead" is a bad character portrayed by a bad actress.
Purnell's Lucy in Fallout is totally opposite of a "strong female lead". She walks out of the Vault with training in various fields, but utterly naive and clueless and totally unprepared to survive in the wasteland.
Her character has an arc with development, failures and learning and situations where she makes a bad decision because her only choices are bad and worse (no good "hero" choice).
These are things the Larson and Ridley characters mentioned above completely lack. Purnell also has the chops to sell it. When she has to do something that she feels bad about and can't find a way around it, WE feel it with her.

I thought it was Jenna when I first saw the trailer, I loved her as Clara in Doctor Who. Ella is a great new face and her doe eyed confusion is a really funny contrast to the rest of the stuff going on in the wasteland

very far off actually😂 First off Americans all over America have different accents themselves like literally everywhere there is a different accent and we have the most default imo so it makes it easier to do any accent😅 and americans never said brits can’t do american accents like what🤣
you can't really compare any American accent to the likes of scouse, geordie, Glaswegian etc even us Brits struggle to pull them off. I have a Barnsley accent, Sean Bean without the posh Hollywood tweaks.
it's just that americans think they can do it without voice couches, plenty of brits tried to do american accent without voice couch and failed miserably

She’s not the main, she’s one of the leads. the show has 3 different leads providing 3 different perspectives: the brotherhood of steel, vault dweller, and the ghoul.
She was perfect in Yellowjackets, as the cheerleader I hated in high school. Would never have guessed she was British, perfect American accent.

I am a huge fan of the Fallout games and they really knocked this show out of the park. Everyone involved clearly love and respect the games and Ella is a pure delight to watch. 10/10!

Yeah, more than game-to-show conversions tend to get, but that's changing. Twisted Metal, The Last of Us and the first season of The Witcher come to mind. The industry is finally gaining some respect for the art form after so long disrespecting and dismissing it. Reporters haven't caught up yet though. One of them stopped her on the red carpet and asked, "So, you played the games to understand the lore before the show. Would you say it was a total waste of time?" She actually looked offended.

It is crazy that Fallout is now something that a lot of people outside of the gaming community know about! I hope that this will encourage them to try the game. I have always said that the Fallout world makes for a really good TV series and I am so happy to see it come into realisation :)
A friend of mine decided to try one of the games, Fallout 4, out after watching the show and is loving it. Although for awhile he didn’t know what V.A.T.S and I had to tell him 😂
@@austincaldwell4258 Careful with 4 if they are playing on PS5. Two of the DLCs have corrupted coding that cause the game to crash during startup. It will most likely be fixed when they release the next-gen updates in 2 weeks, but until then don't install the Automatron or Wasteland Workshop DLCs (the other DLC are fine).

I play Fallout 76, and when the show dropped there was a huge influx of new players.
Apparently, all of the Fallout games currently playing figures have gone up by about 400%.
I think it is awesome that so many new people are playing.
I know some people who are not gamers, who have decided to play Fallout. Which I think is cool.
I also love that non-gamers are loving the show too.
